wait till you start adjusting that front baffle. I have mine down to the 2nd lowest setting, mowing at 4" and it pulls the grass straight up, like its not even trying! My VR1 did not come with the turbo baffle on the discharge side, so make sure if you order a vr2 that it comes with the turbo baffle!
Just started running the 52" scag v 2 this season . Also run a 36" and 48" scag v 1. I love all of them. Very well built and reliable. The only thing that I don't like on the V 2 is every time I have to get off the mower to pick up sticks or garbage , I have to put the parking break on, but everything else is great. My 48" V 1 has 1500 hrs on it and only had to replace the belt, tires and a pto switch. My 36" has around 700 hrs and no problems yet with it. Great mowers!!
You can't beat the cut and striping capability of the Velocity deck! I would definitely pick the Scag over any other mower. It is a great company and I am proud to say I own one!
on the third lawn, the one where you mowed the front at a 45, why not take the pass all the way onto the sidewalk? You're stopping your stripe significantly short. Just a thought. also be careful early in the morning using the zero-turn on the lawn. I leave divots some times if its even just a little bit wet. Thanks, Brian. . . K
Try to get a Wright Stander demo and compare the two. Wright was the first one in the industry to try stand on mowers. I worked for a large commercial landscpae company in cleveland area and all we ran was wright standers and walkers. Very low preventive maintenance on the wrights
I just recently bought my Scag V-Ride 2 last October. It is now my new work horse over top of my Scag Cheetah. My V-Ride 2 I went with the 23.5 Kawasaki and it seems to have more power then my Cheetah and is definitely quicker. Leaves a clean cut and cutting in the morning dew is not even a problem. I have other people I know dumping their ExMarks and switching over to Scag. Best decision I ever made
Spelled scag wrong on my first comment o well, they are good mowers I’ve had one but not like that one. I had the walk behind, it was ok but needed bigger motor more horse power. Well thanks for showing telling see ya next time see ya bye.
to mccool 24 you have to be careful going on the concrete when the grass is wet it will mark it up green and you can't blow it off, and if dry you don't want to put rubber streaks on there driveway
American lawn care is crazy compared to the UK. Only elderly people get there grass cut. And fall clean ups aren’t even a thing. Love watching your videos man!
I've ran them all and will stick with the vantage with the ecs system plus can't go wrong with exmark great cut from the 60 ultra cut deck and spped was great nice ride on the platform plus stick with red have it all match keep up the good videos great work
You should try the Ferris Z2,I'm a Exmark guy but the exmark stander cost to much,I watched several videos on RUclips about the Ferris stander,so I went to the dealer and tried one out and that same day I took one home and so far I love the ferris stander and the price is good
I'm in the market for a new stander so I really appreciate this video. I've been on a vantage for 4 years now with turf trackers before that. I've had no major issues with exmark but lots of minor stuff, which is just how it goes with everything in our biz. But I'm jumping ship! The vantages are just too spendy and don't have the greatest cut. But thanks for the vid!!
Brian's Lawn Maintenance I'm actually leaning towards the gravely! Funny you mention that. Gravely is pretty popular here in Utah and I'm switching to a dealer that is super close to me that carries Toro and gravely. Exmark dealer here is great just a little too far. Dealer here has 20 percent off gravely right now! That'll almost save me 2gs! My opinion is that the stander is the way to go and all companies are making great machines! Its coming down to price and convenience for me.
Once you go V+ you wont go back. Been in the business in MD for 24 years. Being able to cleanly cut in one pass a thick lush spring heavily fertilized tall fescue lawn at 7am an hour after it stopped raining is absolutely priceless. That is the V+. Oh and get the damn chute off of there. Thats why you were getting a little windrowing going on.
Scag is a very heavy duty mower, I see all the comments on Scag but here in Ms all you every see on the landscape trailers are Exmark and maybe John Deere sometime.
I've heard the Scag vride clumps a lot in damp grass like spring conditions. this spring I'm going to buy a 36-inch stand on. my choices because of the dealers by me are Bobcat quick cat or Scag V Ride I know you demo. Both of these units so was wondering what your thoughts were thanks for making videos they are awesome
I have a Scag Vride2 with mulch kit in wet conditions it does clogged up With morning dew in Florida it clogs up as well I have to constantly clean out bottom of the deck. But The mulching capabilities and cut quality is great
I have a VR 2 52”. Would of loved that 61, especially for the money (only an additional $300 at the time) but I wouldn’t be able to get through any my gates. I don’t have a lot of big properties, biggest 1 may be about an acre so the 52 is doin just fine for me. I’m very happy I pulled the trigger on buying my vr2 this spring. Hallelujah! Lol
Ferris has a 61 standon with the 37 efi. I'm a scag guy but they need to step up their game. I'm also worried about not being able to feather the deck over uneven lawns with the standons.
A friend of mine owns a paintball field and has a Scag V Ride 52" (the original, not the V Ride 2). I really enjoy using it. The controls are easy to get to and use, although the handle safety is annoying at times. Cuts great and tackles anything that is in its way both really tall (like 3-4 ft grass, weeds, and vines) down to regular height grass. Has a HUGE gas tank on it. I think its gotta be something over 5 gallons because 1 5 gallon jug doesn't fill it up.
How do you like standing instead of sitting when mowing? ( do you feel it more at the end of the day?)Definitely seems you can mow faster on a stand on compared to a zero turn because of its smaller length, but I'd imagine it's harder to go under low hanging branches with it. It does leave a nice cut tho.
Meadow View Lawn Care LLC Didn’t feel any real discomfort or fatigue by the end of the day to be honest. I felt more inclined to pick up trash tho I will tell you that lol. Ez on off.
Meadow View Lawn Care LLC standers are where it's at. But whatever makes you money! The work flow of a stander saves you time. Seconds are minutes and minutes are hours.
Brian, Do you notice any "delay" or lack of control some on the 3 point turn on the Vride 2 when you go from forward to reverse. I've been slightly noticing that there is something "unsmooth" about the transition from forwards to reverse. I come to a complete stop, make my half turn forwards, and then when I go backwards, it's almost like the wheels start spinning out or are stalling for a bit. Not enough torque to the wheels almost off the bat, then it kicks in and goes backwards. This is nit picking stuff, but just something I'm noticing on mine, and have rutted a few yards already because it's like a car being stuck in snow for a second, where it digs into the ground easily. I will add that the grass here in MA has been super tall, growing like crazy, and always damp when I notice it the most, but just noticing it more than I have on my other mowers I have run previously and something to watch for so you're not burning the lawn out on three point turns
Detailed Lawn Services I didn’t have any issues that I can report on. Every unit is different, every brand of course too. But I didn’t see anything that made me not happy with the unit.
I agree man. I’ve had mine for a month now and I’m having the same issue but I only notice when starting my three point turn to the left. I’ve mowed for 6 years previous with an old 52” zero turn torro and never had issues making divots. Got this scag and sometimes it feels like I’m wrestling an alligator when trying to turn
Brian, what would be a great starter mower I could use to get it done ?Size . Price. Efficiency. Prefer a zero turn. Just reaching out bc you started out that way too I'm sure. Thanks bud! Love love this channel
At 8:52 you toward the loan when you turned it around then at 9:11 on the other strike when you turned around that Scag left like a circle print in the lawn why ?
Nah that's me just being overzealous on the throttle. These tires actually tear up the grass waaaayyy less than my zero turn. If that's the worse these tires did, I'd be a very happy camper.
I believe all commercial mowers cut the same given they are maintained properly with good blades and deck height correct. After that it becomes preference of name and color of machine. Let’s keep it real
That's like saying all cars are the same as long as they are maintained . Quality of parts and design are a huge factor . The ease of use and comfortability of using is huge. The design of the deck is important like the design of a turbine or anything that creates suction. Not all are equal.
Clark Traub you missed the key word in my posting. “Commercial” I’m not putting ALL mowers in the same category. Some mowers are “residential” those are not what I’m talking about.
We have the same question as Josh H. Does anyone have any other opinions on using a stand behind style mower? We typically use Exmark Zero turns and push mowers with amazing results. Thanks in advance.
it's HIS turf I love the option to jump off and on to grab trash and have that higher visibility of seeing what’s in front of you. I think they’re dope.
Just a few but, let’s be real. Spring conditions and new customers who have 10 days of growth, rain/wet conditions, you’ll have to double cut with every mower. At least those thicker back yards. Honestly it great the first pass, but we had time, wanted to do a good job so I double cut. The backyard here was a new customer. Wanted to do a good job of course.
Brian's Lawn Maintenance I completely agree! I just didn't know if you guys didn't need to because of the baffle being adjusted differently. The best thing I have found is that the deck stays super clean even in tall wet grass! And the cut quality stays good as well. Thats all I could really ask for in a mower 😉👍
Brian's Lawn Maintenance Yep! Mine sorta lays the grass out on top of the lawn as quickly as possible but it doesn't actually clump which is pretty sweet 😉👍 thanks for getting back to me so quickly bro! Congrats on how fast your channel/business are growing!
I'll keep watching all the vids you make and I'll probably never go and get a 0 turn. Honestly, I really like exmark myself. However, I also like scag, toro, john deere etc,. Didn't really know until a few days ago about the toro 4000 series being redesigned. That's when I decided I'd like to have one of those over the exmark or the scag or the john deere. Now I'm not sure about anything except I think I'm bout to go nuts
So I’ve been push mowing for the past year my 3 acres and this has been out for over 3 years now? 😂 oh hell naw I’m getting one of this, gotta sit the wife down and have a serious conversation today!!
some of your reviews leave alot to be desired. There is so much a experienced operator can discover about a machine after a few days of mowing, heck sometimes only after a hour of mowing... Things like how well does the underside of the deck stay clean, how locked into the machine you feel ( on a stander ) how easy are the controls to use, are the controls too high or too low, how easy is the deck lift, and so much more. Also since I try to do as much work on the mower as possible, being that most shops get back logged in the cutting season, when I look at a mower I am looking at how well built does it appear. I look at the idler pulleys and do they look strong and robust or cheap and likely not long lasting. How hard will it be to replace belts... how hard will it be to replace idler pulleys... What other weakness or strengths do I see when I look at a machine. You have a great personality as you do your videos, just doesn't seem like you are doing them from the perspective of a person who has done this for many years and who tackles his own repairs and upkeep.
Well some of these videos we only get the units for 2 weeks, agreed we don't go too in depth. If we have some of them for a long term demo, we could definitely weigh in more. Thanks for the .02, we'll keep doing what we can do the best we can.
SuperDave21 Surprisingly I wasn’t tired at all. And I would weigh in on that if I was. That was my second biggest question/concern. First was if it lived up to the stripe-hype! Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised by the demo/results.
My wife and her sister are mowing and I am the salesman getting work for them I work in oil feild for now. I am getting them commercial accounts. I need more work for them. Should I ask local lawn company for some work or accounts they want to let go of or just keep bidding
I’d like to see the ease of lifting the deck between all the stander mowers. I know the gravely prolly has the easiest with the foot lever but wanted to know the easiest one to grab really quick and to feather the deck.
Been using scags for over 25 years and they are the best, you guys need to learn how to mow straight lines and quit turning/pivoting in the grass, tearing up the turf is worse than leaving removable green marks on the sidewalk!
Once you make the proper adjustments to the deck that work for your region those lines will come to life. That is just scratching the surface as far as stripes from a scag go. Scag is “simply the best “... I have a 1st time cut of a property with my 11 year old turf tiger on my channel. Check it out if you really want to know what a scag can do when dialed in. Great content!!! Keep it up!!!
Did you miss ur operator control chute? When I mow with a mower that doesn’t have one it sucks. Haha. I would like to Demo a few Mowers. Have to start emailing
Changing Seasons Landscape & Water Features Demos are always fun. Really opens your eyes up to what’s out there. I do miss the OCDC. Curious what folks use on their v rides for an OCDC
Brian's Lawn Maintenance I put a GrassFlap on my Hustler Super S. Don’t like the mower but the GrassFlap is pretty good for what I could find out their on the market
Maybe, you ought to hop over a curb and then mow a field with that scag and see how it mows. Okay, now I'm waiting to see what you think about this one
Not impressed. I will stick with what works for me. Tried a Scag 36” and could not get used to the touchy controls. I here Exmark has something in the making for fall. Rumor? Nice video!
Those velocity plus decks have a sound of their own. I swear you can tell a scag over any other brand when they mow. #teamscag
Stegs It is distinct I will give you that!
wait till you start adjusting that front baffle. I have mine down to the 2nd lowest setting, mowing at 4" and it pulls the grass straight up, like its not even trying! Yea I might or might not rig that to where I don't have to and my blades keep going if I get off for trash. But cant confirm this :)
I just recently purchased a 36" v-ride 2 about a month ago. I love it. I use it for a lot of my backyards. It cuts great and is a time saver.
Im currently waiting for mine to be delivered. Are you still loving it?
You can't beat the cut and striping capability of the Velocity deck! I would definitely pick the Scag over any other mower. It is a great company and I am proud to say I own one!
We appreciate your business!

kvn08cosmo probably to not leave green tire marks on the sidewalk from cutting damp grass
I had the same question.
There is nothing better than laying down some stripes! It really does a great cut. Looking forward to hearing more of your thoughts.

I have the 52in V ride 2, no complaints yet, awesome machine
Thank you for your business!
Does the v ride 2 leave ruts being so heavy? I'm considering this or a swz with a sulky for my new mower any thoughts?
I just recently bought my Scag V-Ride 2 last October. It is now my new work horse over top of my Scag Cheetah. Yes it cut nice, that v saga is my pick they cut good maybe the deck is why. Well great job showing and well see ya next video see ya bye.

Got a new grandstand this year... I'm very pleased and it stripes good as well
to mccool 24 you have to be careful going on the concrete when the grass is wet it will mark it up green and you can't blow it off, and if dry you don't want to put rubber streaks on there driveway
I like Scag and Exmark
Scag by far best mower I've ever been on they are tanks n just keep going n going n going
American lawn care is crazy compared to the UK. Only elderly people get there grass cut. And fall clean ups aren’t even a thing. Love watching your videos man!
Scag vs Exmark???? I think I'll go with team Scag
Agree

i have the same mower (23.5 HP kawi) its a sweet mower....but these vr2's look real deluxe!
I run a 36 in v1 and I love it.
Same. Adding a 52 v2 soon!
I love your Scag V Ride mower man,Keep up the good.
Brian, i have an exmark lazer z and they cut great, but when in comes to stand ons i think scag and Gravely are the best out there right now.
Good to know!
Scag is a very heavy duty mower, I see all the comments on Scag but here in Ms all you every see on the landscape trailers are Exmark and maybe John Deere sometime.

The Scag probably clumps the least in wet conditions .. not sure where you got the opposite info from. Thanks!
I have a Scag Vride2 with mulch kit in wet conditions it does clogged up
With morning dew in Florida it clogs up as well I have to constantly clean out bottom of the deck. But The mulching capabilities and cut quality is great
Scag all the way baby!
Hallelujah! Lol

A friend of mine owns a paintball field and has a Scag V Ride 52" (the original, not the V Ride 2). I really enjoy using it. I double-cut every lawn with my Scag...my customers love the stripes. 👍
i owned V Ride one and v ride 2. They cut the best.
Demoing a 52 vride this week so far I like it. Working on straightening that stripes out. Way better than my toro belt drive.
Ez on off.
Brian's Lawn Maintenance yeah I can see that! Lol lazer gets comfortable and does take more effort to get on and off.
Yeah, I grab trash without even shutting off the deck.
Meadow View Lawn Care LLC standers are where it's at. But whatever makes you money! The work flow of a stander saves you time. Seconds are minutes and minutes are hours.
Truth!
If you do decide to buy it either a mid range or small deck would be good for gated properties.
No gates for me. Dropped them all. Now I’m debating the 52”/61”.
The scan v ride2 is just a copy of the wright standers. You should definitely demo a weight stander x or any wright. You would be impressed.
Brian,
Do you notice any "delay" or lack of control some on the 3 point turn on the Vride 2 when you go from forward to reverse.

My 48 in Ariens cuts stipes better 😉
@@SuperPlastered I doubt it seriously
Brian, what would be a great starter mower I could use to get it done ?Size . Price. Efficiency. Prefer a zero turn. Just reaching out bc you started out that way too I'm sure. Thanks bud! Love love this channel
We have videos on all those topics check em out 👊
More like Crop Circles....LOL!!!! Liking the SCAG!
At 8:52 you toward the loan when you turned it around then at 9:11 on the other strike when you turned around that Scag left like a circle print in the lawn why ?
definitely demo a Wright Stander. really great mowers!
Tip to cutting faster. cut all your lines first, then do your clean up lap.
Don't know if I can wait until the staris is available in the 36 in, what do you think about this mower is it a good substitute?
Hard to say, Scag or Gravely? Just depends what your dealer sells
Looks like the weight of this machine rips the grass at 8:50. Is it recommended to not turn on sidewalks?
Nah that's me just being overzealous on the throttle. These tires actually tear up the grass waaaayyy less than my zero turn. If that's the worse these tires did, I'd be a very happy camper.
Scat all the way
Sweet stripes guys, keep up the good work.

Your "tiny lawns" are double the size of any lawn I get out here in CA.... I really want zero turn... Just not sure if it's practical out here.
I’ll buy one eventually.
Great video brother keep up the awesome work
It looks nice,
It ride fast. Do you like it so far.
I really really do.
Definitely Scag! I use Scag and Hustlers
How short do you cut the grass
That vride looks awsome i would get scag
I'd get a 36" for gated and small yards. Looks good though
Sweet! No gates for me thankfully.
Brian's Lawn Maintenance I don't have one either, but I was just saying it in case one came my way. Lol
Nice video Brian
I run a Scag v-ride 2, 52 inch deck, EFI. So far its been a great mower. Want to install an OCDC eventually
Thank you for your business!
Adding one here in the next week and going with efi as well. Can't wait to see what it can do !
the lawn boss on Instagram also
It leaves nice line just like my scag. If you added the actual stripe kit you will get stripes
What size cut and engine ?
Awesome stripes.
Hey Brian do you have to double cut most of the thicker lawns? That's what I have found with my vride II
Wyatt's lawn service Oh ya! I will say tho, it did NOT clump at all during that lawn or during the day. Very surprised.
That velocity deck 😍
Wouldn’t trade my V Ride 2 for anything. Thinking about getting a 61 soon
61 v ride 1 is where it's at
Nice cut!
both are great machines
So I’ve been push mowing for the past year my 3 acres and this has been out for over 3 years now? 😂 oh hell naw I’m getting one of this, gotta sit the wife down and have a serious conversation today!!
What do you guys do with the clippings on the sidewalk and in the road I find it when I blow it back into the grass it makes it look bad
Double cut and blow the clippings
some of your reviews leave alot to be desired.
Cats eye gold
how much weight does it take
Do your legs or feet get tired of standing compared to the zero turns?
SuperDave21 Surprisingly I wasn’t tired at all. And I would weigh in on that if I was. That was my second biggest question/concern. First was if it lived up to the stripe-hype! Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised by the demo/results.
True that
Awesome!
Patagonia!
Got to love the stripes
Very nice V Ride man,Keep up the good work guys.
My wife and her sister are mowing and I am the salesman getting work for them I work in oil feild for now. I am getting them commercial accounts. I need more work for them. Should I ask local lawn company for some work or accounts they want to let go of or just keep bidding
Just depends. Definitely advertise and pass out flyers, create a website, great next steps that could help
Do u checker ur lawns
Caleb White We can/do yep
I’d like to see the ease of lifting the deck between all the stander mowers. I know the gravely prolly has the easiest with the foot lever but wanted to know the easiest one to grab really quick and to feather the deck.
They're all heavy. I'd say that SCAG was one of the easier ones, shorter distance to grab the handle.
The deck is easy to lift on the Spartan stander, and it stripes great as well. You lift it with your foot, check it out.
Been using scags for over 25 years and they are the best, you guys need to learn how to mow straight lines and quit turning/pivoting in the grass, tearing up the turf is worse than leaving removable green marks on the sidewalk!
Teach us Master Yoda!
Thing cuts pissah, I run a 52” Wright’s stander love it stripes great I also own 36” scag machine stripes the balls
Good info
Once you make the proper adjustments to the deck that work for your region those lines will come to life. That is just scratching the surface as far as stripes from a scag go. Scag is “simply the best “... I have a 1st time cut of a property with my 11 year old turf tiger on my channel. Check it out if you really want to know what a scag can do when dialed in.
Great content!!! Keep it up!!!
Exmark but my favor is Toro
Nice throw Brian LOL
Dale Nienow Dude, the throw of the season right?! 😂😂
Brian's Lawn Maintenance That means that the season will be successful, god bless!
Let's not get ahead of ourselves 😂
Good stuff
Did you miss ur operator control chute? When I mow with a mower that doesn’t have one it sucks. Haha. I would like to Demo a few Mowers. Have to start emailing
Changing Seasons Landscape & Water Features Demos are always fun. Really opens your eyes up to what’s out there.
I do miss the OCDC. Curious what folks use on their v rides for an OCDC
Brian's Lawn Maintenance I put a GrassFlap on my Hustler Super S. Don’t like the mower but the GrassFlap is pretty good for what I could find out their on the market
Brian's Lawn Maintenance grass flap
I use qwuik chute for ocdc. Very solid
Oh and do they have a FX engine available now?
I’d imagine ya
Connor is really funny!
Maybe, you ought to hop over a curb and then mow a field with that scag and see how it mows. Okay, now I'm waiting to see what you think about this one
52" deere my friend
Umm.. No
I heard that Exmark is coming out with a new Vantage the end of this year.
Supposedly!
Awesome stripes Brian! #exmark

Exmark navigaor is where it’s at
Yes Brian you need to try out the Navigator why dont uou see if you could demo one?
Not impressed. I will stick with what works for me. Tried a Scag 36” and could not get used to the touchy controls. I here Exmark has something in the making for fall. Rumor? Nice video!
Francisco Ramirez Rumors are true. We’ll see.
