Babe came first actually. The original novel "The Sheep Pig" was released in 1983, predating Gordy by nearly 11 years. Gordy was released on November 4th, 1994 in Tucson, AZ 6 months before it's wide release. The Sheep Pig would later get made into a film which became "Babe" and got released on August 4th, 1995 (less than 3 months after Gordy). Gordy became a critical and commercial failure, while Babe became a critical and commercial success.

The director of this (Mark Lewis) is also an Australian, like the director of Babe (George Miller).
