Such great info! Especially when you discuss taking great pics of your food. My husband is the one that takes pictures of our items, it’s def important!
First of all , i enjoyed your tips very educational. I had started to bake and delivered to a popular store, but was a little dissapointed, yesterday i went to collect my cash from the previous delivery, to my surprise they gave me instead 9 returns. Anyhow. I decided to go on utube to get some advice. The strange thing is, they were not transparent. They were only telling me a that they cakes were sold and that i could bring more. I am thankful for the information .
I love your top! It's so cute! And yessss @ start cake business in 2020!! I started 1 month ago and collected my registered business certificate yesterday so super excited!! Love from Trinidad... okay now to listen to the rest of your vids!!
Thank you for this video! I am just now starting. Once I get registered with my county clerk, I was just going to start off with regular cookies until I can get more products like boxes and stuff. However, most of the other products offered in my town from other home bakers, are sugar cookies and cakes and tuff. So I am thinking about starting off with Pavlovas. I'm still researching on what to start with.
I love it! A great idea to set yourself apart! If you really love cookies I think it would be great to add those on too. Especially as we enter fall and the holiday season!
Thank you so much for your video it was very helpful. I took notes down & everything and I feel 100 % confident about starting up my home bakery again.
Just got caught up with all your fabulous videos on this channel! at 10:30 there is a picture of taco-shaped treats. I would love to learn about these. I don't see any tutorial. Can you direct me to where I can find out more about these? What is the shell? What are they filled with?
Hey! I don’t have a tutorial for those. Those were my brownie and cobbler tacos! Fried the tortilla and sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon and orange they toppings drizzled with chocolate then stuffed with brownies buttercream and other toppings.
Christal Hardy I’m glad I could share some valuable info with you. Yes that’s one of the restrictions as a cottage/home baker. In my state they recently changed the laws so we can take orders over the internet as long as the delivery/ pickup is made in person.
I’m a 16 year old teenager that wants to try this but first I want to learn how to bake. Can you give out tips for new people like me🙃 btw great video very detailed 😊
The Station Bakery I want to learn how to make cakes and cookies and cupcakes and cake jars. What would you recommend I start with ? Thank you so much for answering I did not see the reply until months later sorry 😐
Kyasiimire Carol you’re so welcome! The best place to start is RUclips university! Start looking up the items you want to make and sell and start experimenting!
I love your video! I have a quick question: I live in Texas, so does that mean I need a food handler certificate? If I do, where do I get that? Thanks!
The list of states that do not allow cottage food operations is outdated in some cases. North Dakota does allow it, for example. Just a helpful tip (or so I hope)!
@@TheStationBakery No problem! We have to stand by each other and give what support we can in this crazy time. I got your back! Thanks so much for your videos. I'm supposed to be studying but have a bunch in my queue to watch later :)
@@TheStationBakery Probably something that is boring to many, but I'm auditing a class on translating the book of Ezekiel from Hebrew to English so I get stronger in Hebrew for eventual PhD work :) Thanks for asking!
Hi, I just found your channel🤗 what do you do if your in a state that doesn't have a cottage food law? I read that you have to cook out of a commercial kitchen? But what if you don't have one?
Maybe check at a local church to see if you can work out of their kitchen. Or see if you can find a Facebook group specifically for your area and see if anyone there knows of any.
Hooked On Sweets Austin aww I’m glad you enjoyed!! Do you mean items or flavors? For items: cakes, cupcakes and custom wrapped treats. For flavors: all of ‘em 😂😂😂 jk hmm that’s a hard one but let’s go with Oreo, strawberry vanilla, amaretto, wedding cake... this is really hard to choose 😂
#NEWSUBBIE ..... Thank you sooo much I had no idea of cottage laws. I just checked my state requires a license and food training and inspection. I would only b able to sell at a farmers market. I need to do alot more research!!!!
Heyyy ms booker!! You’re so welcome! I’m glad you were able to learn something new! A lot of people don’t know about cottage laws. I would love to see when you’re up and running!!
I can’t find anything about an age limit in my states laws anywhere. Is there one? Or would it go along with the child labor laws for my state (Texas)?
Nope. Keep in mind each state has different laws and yes you will find people are unaware or just don’t care about the laws. Not much you can really do except make sure you are in compliance.
Oh I feel you! In the beginning you may need to make a few things and post pictures of them to get peoples eyes tingling lol make things for your family and friends and neighbors and have them post on their social media and tell their friends. Also ask them to leave you a review on your business page. Another way is to do markets to get your products out there and find potential customers.

Aww Thank you so much 😀
I can’t find anything about an age limit in my states laws anywhere. Is there one? Or would it go along with the child labor laws for my state (Texas)?
I would advise you calling your local administration to get clarity, but it might fall under the lemonade stand law.
What position should I contact?
It will be your local health department
Yeah thanks. They referred me to the Texas Workforce Commission.
Did you just ignore the refrigerated laws regarding frosting and fruit? I have similar laws but it looks like a lot of home bakers ignore that one
Nope. Keep in mind each state has different laws and yes you will find people are unaware or just don’t care about the laws. Not much you can really do except make sure you are in compliance.
I’ve started my business from home but seem to be struggling with promoting and having actual orders lmao any tips?

You are in texas correct? I had a few questions to make sure I am understanding the cottage guidlines if so. Do you have a business email?
