Pikachu would be like being in an mmo and not upgrading your job cause all it is, is a stat boost with no other downside Charmander is like if staying at a lower job let you learn skills faster at the exchange of being weaker for longer
I wrote a long thing, got too long - In simplified form/TL;DR; [I used RPGS as a basis and their systems for my explanation] First, there are a couple rules in the world; In order to level, they must meet a level requirement of proficiencies and skill. People have base primary stats that they are born with, and this dictates their ability to wield certain weapons and their overall potential when directly compared to someone else with the same weapon [these are your typical DnD, pen and paper character sheet core stats]. The ability to draw out potential, limited by the weapon that the individual uses. The higher the quality of the weapon, the higher the scaling and therefore the closer to their 'true potential', or absolute maximum damage they can do with that type of weapon you reach. Lastly, when they level they gain a power boost that scales off of their experiences, however, it is limited by their innate ability. Functionally speaking, it is scaling for how much you can gain from a level up [A C user gaining an average amount of experience and scaling when they level, and an A earning more than average]. For example, if they're a B with a sword through experience, but only have a D in their innate level-up potential, when they level it is likely that they would average out to a C and only improve at an average rate, even though their experiences and hard work would have offered them above average skill. The reason that last bit is longer and annoying to get across is because it is important and the crux of how Bell can be so strong whilst everyone around him only gets marginally stronger. Sure, there is the background ability to gain xp faster, but that only reduces the time spent levelling, giving him more levels, but not more experience. This would mean that instead of getting stronger, he would become a higher level, but weaker than his same-level peers because his experiences levelling would be too shallow to be considered experience and therefore he would actually be weaker than everyone else at the same level, even the average person because he is constantly playing from behind, where trying to get ahead would limit the amount of actual combat experience, but not levelling and therefore his scaling would be significantly weaker since we know thats a crux of performance/levelling in this world. What I'm getting at is that you have scaling for your levelling. Levelling jumps your stats up a bunch, and Bell specifically has insane stats across the board for both that and the rate at which he improves at skills he's trying to learn. It's not just the xp boost, it's his damage scaling and then his level scaling on top of that. Even if Bell tried to become a swordsman/mage, because of his ability to draw out the potential of his stats, he would eclipse his peers. This would normally balance out with poor consolidation of those skills at level-up, however Bell is broken and so he has his learned skills amplified during the levelling process to an absurd degree. When he levels, assuming his levelling is similar to his other stats, Bell Cranel would recieve an A, S, SS, or SSS scaling to whatever skills he has tried to learn when he does end up levelling up. Just to emphasise how insane this is, if this was an RPG; A 100 damage sword. D would be x0.75 damage to damage, dealing 75 damage C scaling would be x1 scaling to damage = 100 damage B scaling would be x1.25 to damage = 125 damage A scaling would be x1.5 damage = 150 damage S scaling would be x1.75 damage = 175 damage SS scaling would be x2 damage = 200 damage SSS scaling would be x2.25 damage = 225 damage. Please bear in mind this is ON TOP of the base damage as scaling. If bell has SSS scaling on his levelling on top of his base scaling, he would literally be broken in any RPG because you are multiplying already multiplied stats. If we assume the same figures as before and apply the levelling scaling of SS class levelling on top of the weapon scaling you see how ridiculous this gets, even with simple numbers. Bell's damage literally doubles at all weapon proficiency ratings, just because his level scales insanely well. D proficency = 150 damage C proficiency = 200 damage B proficiency = 250 damage A proficiency = 300 damage S proficiency = 350 damage SS proficiency = 400 damage SSS proficiency = 450 damage. Even if Bell does not maximize his learning experience and performs averagely in his skill proficiency with a skill such as swordsmanship, because of his broken level-scaling, he will gain double the damage/double the experience in relation to his same-level peers when he levels, assuming that they retain their proficiencies at an average rate of x1. Not only does he level twice as fast, he scales twice as hard [and this isn't even the SSS case senario]. [I know I know I made it long again]
@@ReaganWForrest I think i just made it too confusing and can vaguely remember what i was on about. But i think the long short of it was that it's like traditional RPG systems where a character has the ability to scale based on proficiency, rated E to SSS - the latter being the best. Bell seems to have high base stats in any skill he picks up in relation to his peers, meaning weapons he uses and spells he uses are naturally at a higher quality and do more damage to start, keeping that consistent lead. In RPG's this is often shown as: Base Damage + Scaling [Base Damage * Proficiency] * Level = Actual Damage. In simplest mathematical form; Damage: D Proficiency: P [E-S tier [where C is 1:1, +/- 0.25 above or below C]] Scaling: D + P = S Level: L [D*P] = S D+S*L = Actual Damage So a 100 damage sword on a level two adventurer with a B proficiency [1.25] would be; 100*1.25 = 125 100+125 = 225 225*2 = 450 Actual Damage. It's a little more complicated than that because weapons have their own scaling and it's a calculation between the users proficiency and the weapons proficiency. But for fun, Bell Cranel as an S ranked proficiency, level four adventurer, with an S rank weapon that does 100 damage each attack would be; 100*1.75 = 175 100+175 = 275 275*4 = 1100 And just for reference so the level difference makes sense and why Bell gets so significantly stronger, Bell at level 3 instead of 4 would do 825 damage. If he does that to all of his stats and skills then it's no wonder he's broken. ^ I think that makes more sense than my inital comment tbh, just because the it was a 3am type.

Fun Fact: In Danmemo Bell basically inherited huge parts from his parents, he gained his kindness from his mother and the ability to run away from his father.
Luck stat plus an innate skill that every hero of ambition have. Seriously op innate, only losing the will to get stronger could stun the growth and we all know Bell, a priced champion of a certain white bearded perv god won't quit.
Yes it would be correct, but it is also a means of holding back your character/pokemon's evolution just to be able to unlock better moves/abilities that are only available at the current stage of evolution, just so he can have them at the evolved version of the character, which wouldn't be able to learn such moves being evolved already.
if you ask, the buff that people obtain by leveling up is like 1000 points per level, that meaning: normal adventureres have aproximately 3500 points at the end of level 1, when they got to level 2, they have acumulated 4500 points(this with the buff by level up), in the war game, bell´s opponent was almost ready to go to level 4, menaing his status were likely 13000 points, but bell being a level 2,and all his SS and SSS status, has aproximately 12500 points, meaning that the NEW level 3 bell, has around 13500 points, the same amount a normal adventurer would have JUST BEFORE going to level 4.. posdt: in the novel bell is a recently new level 4 adventurer(having all his stats in 0), his status are a little higher from a new level 5, meaning he literally skip 1 complete level podt 2: the bust that offers harihume, gives 5000 point to the user, basically level him up 1 level, meaning that if the acttual light novel bell uses that bust, his stats will be from someone of level 6(mostly new at that level), menaing he can give a fair fight to aiz( not beat her, but being almost to her level)
@@romonk5980 think you are confusing the Buff of harihume, when level up, they give you 1000 points, and I am pretty sure about that, 200 points per stat, and in harihume buff, is 1000 points per stat.
They never tell the buff you get from lvl up. How u know all that. And if haruhime buff plus 1000 stat I think it severely lacking. That mean newly lvl 2 got lvl boost is equivalent to lvl 2 that got g in all his stat. Make no sense to me.

I know they worry about increased death counts but the guild should reveal how he grows, just not mentioning his skill. It might initially take a long time at first but if you at least get an S in every stat at lv1 it'll make it much easier at lv2. Bell is an outlier but at lv4 it's suggested he is strong a new level 5, but he won't have the experience requirements of a lv5. If I have this right it's pretty broken as he might actually levels up faster at higher levels long as he fights appropriate opponents for his specs.
I just finished the whole series and movie for 2 days because of boredom... My friend recommend me this anime and it is really good. Now i'm prayin that the 3rd season will not be delayed

@@jamesmuise2499 The wiki describes it as a minute per level. I missed the detail in the book that suggested that was not true. Always thought that something like this or SAO would make an awesome mmo. Everyone starts as like a normal person with no skills and they have to work to impress a goddess or whatever and then eventually they get random powers and there are very few if any people who have the same skills. Feel like it would make you feel really special in a world of a bunch of people.
@@jadenrush7276 nahh add that shit cause why a god will be impressed in you if you took a hundred times just to get that specific thing unless the gods will be impressed by your unbreaking will.
lol that's a good observation. Life in Danmachi as an adventurer would effectively result in an reverse exponential curve cause it's....real life for them. There's on scaling exponential threat like in a video game unless you consider the dungeon but you can only go so far. Lets say the level 6s of a familia can only make it to the 60th floor but that floor is extremely tough. Stands to reason the group has to make it down there only to split the experience so minimally that hardly any progress takes place. It's like a drill that gets sharper as it burrows but the surrounding landscapes gets tougher and tougher. So the drill moves insanely slow
Nice example. You also see that very good with the Kali Familia. One of the few Familias outside of Orario that has Level 6 members. The reason behind that is that it´s members constantly fight and kill each other in one on one battles thus they regularly fight opponents equal or stronger to themselves.

Hmm... No, it's kind of more like a rebirth system. Basically, after grinding enough to meet the prerequisites, you switch to an advanced class (think of this as a Prestige Class) and the stats don't show your TOTAL stats, but just the stats you've gained in that advanced class... in order to hit the next prerequisites. Because people in DanMachi assume the stats show TOTAL stats, they naturally assume gaining a levelup gives them a power boost since a freshly promoted "all I" can beat someone with straight 500s on a lower level, so they rush for levelups rather than grind out their stats more than they need to.
Great video like always! Love to get deeper in the lore of these series. 1 thing I want to point out is about the base abilities limit. Upon reading vol 9 of Sword Oratoria spin-off, i found that those abilities are the proficiency given in a certain field (dexterity, endurance/defense, magic, etc), and that the upper bound is based on the race. In human cases that is a max of 999 for each field. As of now we don't know the limits for other races (so from here it all comes to speculation), but some races could have higher or lower limits to some of those stats (example a dwarf having a higher upper limit for strength or endurance, but having lower magic ability or agility) And there we got to Bell, who is possibly more that a human (Hermes calls him Zeus grandson), so just like the spirit's blood makes Welf able to create his op magic swords or Ainz magic wind, Bell could have a body that can go beyond the human/mortal's limit

I took a LOT of the Level power difference from this series into account when setting up the level power curve in my homemade game world. So a Level 4 would kick the crud out of a Level 2, a Level 6 (FIREBOLTO !!!) would even moreso against a Level 4, and a Level 10 (out of a max of 20 Levels) would pretty much destroy any Level 6's...

You might wanna remind everyone though that Firebolt came about due to Bell accidentally reading the grimoire that Freya planted for him. The anime should have showed this info on levels back in season 1. That was one of its biggest mistakes. Before videos like these came out the ones who know how the level system worked are those who read the LN and manga so they were saved the trouble.
With every addition to his Harem Bell gets an additional boost to his stats which are as follows- +14 attack speed +11 damage +6 mana regeneration +20 health +18 magic +100 sex appeal -20 Hestia's patience

Two combination Skill Bell Has Give Him The Proficiency to Have A Monstrous Rapid Growth Which *Bare in Mind* that Argonaut is The Desire And Passion to be the Hero and His Other Skill That Hestia Concealed Boosts His Stat per Growth Leveling significant By Adding Factor of his Emotion and Dreams..
Rather than additive, like the difficulties increased for leveling up, the stat gains is also exponentially higher imo, so like maybe a 500 stats in level 2 is much higher if translated to level 1 stats
Would it be fair to say this is why Freya's familia is so strong. They seemed to have polished each other to create diamonds. The worth of their excelia being through actual training by threat of death each time they engaged with one another
Anyone else love how every state was shown with a different anime character. Yet Bell was shown next to Agility? That man IS Agility at this point. Lol
Im late but what a wonderfull explanation of my favourite anime power system. Funny thing is that Its only the surface. There are things left to consider. Let's do an analogy with games like wow/lol. Increasing ur stats would be like having items, while Leveling up is a sustancial power boost in stats base + level up your skills. A higher level player would almost always win a duel against a unleveled one unless the difference in items were massive (Lets say Bell can fight higher level enemies because he has a monster items adventage = stats to SS+) But Is it a chance for a player to outduel someone of BOTH higher level and itemization? YES , there is. PERICE. A pro wow/lol player could outplay you in a duel at lower level/items simply because of his pure ability at the game. In Danmachi Ryuu would be the best example of this, she hasn't upgraded her falna because she had no godess anymore so all this time training has served 0 for her in terms of leveling up=base stats and grinding stats BUT she is getting more and more combat experience, so she could fight stronger enemies out of pure skill. Now that S4 has just started, this is what Takemikazuchi explains to Mikoto, don't get obsessed about falna status and also focus on training your combat/magic techniques.
just take a second to compare 11:57 to the ones the green elf read at 11:40 there's significant decrease of stats in hestia's list. ex what I assume as agility is 1049 in hestia's list vs 1337 earlier

@@jetbell i think you don't get the point of what i want to see I know that if you make a tier list of adventurers aiz would be in the top tier however what i want to see is how the actual Bell would fair against the higher ranked adventurers, like if based on his stats and ability he could take them down and how. 'Cause it's quite evident that if you take it purely on level and raw power Bell is clearly lacking
20:01 Yeah, turns out he doesn't have his showing at all times. It was invisible when he was attacking the Ishtar Familia until a drop of Ishtar's blood fell on it. I'm thinking his might have only been visable at that time because of Mind Zero, though I'm not too sure how that would cause it.
One fun fact not touched on in the video is that not all people with Falna are adventurers. Some are blacksmiths, masons, fishermen, etc. The falna gives them more strength to complete simple tasks, but it is extremely difficult to level up as a non adventurer. There are very few Level 2s in non adventuring roles. Also familias are required to register what their job is (i.e. blacksmith, building houses, fishing, etc.) and all the strongest guilds are registered as dungeon crawling familias with the exception of Hephaestus. The familias are also required to accomplish tasks based on the field they're registered in and pay taxes based on the field.

I wrote a long thing, got too long - In simplified form/TL;DR;
[I used RPGS as a basis and their systems for my explanation]
First, there are a couple rules in the world;
In order to level, they must meet a level requirement of proficiencies and skill.
Just to emphasise how insane this is, if this was an RPG;
A 100 damage sword.
D would be x0.75 damage to damage, dealing 75 damage
C scaling would be x1 scaling to damage = 100 damage
B scaling would be x1.25 to damage = 125 damage
A scaling would be x1.5 damage = 150 damage
S scaling would be x1.75 damage = 175 damage
SS scaling would be x2 damage = 200 damage
SSS scaling would be x2.25 damage = 225 damage.
D proficency = 150 damage
C proficiency = 200 damage
B proficiency = 250 damage
A proficiency = 300 damage
S proficiency = 350 damage
SS proficiency = 400 damage
SSS proficiency = 450 damage.
It is sad that you don't have many likes despite having put in so much work. Underrated comment 10/10
In RPG's this is often shown as:
Base Damage + Scaling [Base Damage * Proficiency] * Level = Actual Damage.
In simplest mathematical form;
Damage: D
Proficiency: P [E-S tier [where C is 1:1, +/- 0.25 above or below C]]
Scaling: D + P = S
Level: L
[D*P] = S
D+S*L = Actual Damage
So a 100 damage sword on a level two adventurer with a B proficiency [1.25] would be;
100*1.25 = 125
100+125 = 225
225*2 = 450 Actual Damage.
It's a little more complicated than that because weapons have their own scaling and it's a calculation between the users proficiency and the weapons proficiency.
But for fun, Bell Cranel as an S ranked proficiency, level four adventurer, with an S rank weapon that does 100 damage each attack would be;
100*1.75 = 175
100+175 = 275
275*4 = 1100
And just for reference so the level difference makes sense and why Bell gets so significantly stronger, Bell at level 3 instead of 4 would do 825 damage. If he does that to all of his stats and skills then it's no wonder he's broken.
^ I think that makes more sense than my inital comment tbh, just because the it was a 3am type.
@@rasmachris94 yea makes sense

if you ask, the buff that people obtain by leveling up is like 1000 points per level, that meaning:
normal adventureres have aproximately 3500 points at the end of level 1, when they got to level 2, they have acumulated 4500 points(this with the buff by level up), in the war game, bell´s opponent was almost ready to go to level 4, menaing his status were likely 13000 points, but bell being a level 2,and all his SS and SSS status, has aproximately 12500 points, meaning that the NEW level 3 bell, has around 13500 points, the same amount a normal adventurer would have JUST BEFORE going to level 4..
posdt:
in the novel bell is a recently new level 4 adventurer(having all his stats in 0), his status are a little higher from a new level 5, meaning he literally skip 1 complete level
podt 2:
the bust that offers harihume, gives 5000 point to the user, basically level him up 1 level, meaning that if the acttual light novel bell uses that bust, his stats will be from someone of level 6(mostly new at that level), menaing he can give a fair fight to aiz( not beat her, but being almost to her level)
Nope even bigger they get around a 500 point buff...TO EACH STAT. so technically they would go from 3500 points at level 1 to 6000 points at level 2.
@@romonk5980 think you are confusing the Buff of harihume, when level up, they give you 1000 points, and I am pretty sure about that, 200 points per stat, and in harihume buff, is 1000 points per stat.

I love this vid. You explained something complicated in a way that everyone would understand without making it boring.
SoooOOOoo Bell can actually be higher level than MAX level, becomming the strongest one of all
not higher level, just maxing out his stats unlike others before leveling

lol that's a good observation.

So they're using Milestone leveling instead of XP grinding.
Yes, the right leveling. :)
Technically they're using both, XP for stats, milestones for LVs.
Kinda like prestige.
he could have 0 stats, if he did something righteous it couldve filled his falna "bucket"(the way the book explains it) and can level, or most adventurers get 999 stats but do nothing great and cant rank up. they say it in book and anime, to rank up, u need to go on adventures.
Just started watching this show this week and I gotta say... I can't wait for season 3. This show is amazing

As of now we don't know the limits for other races (so from here it all comes to speculation), but some races could have higher or lower limits to some of those stats (example a dwarf having a higher upper limit for strength or endurance, but having lower magic ability or agility)
And there we got to Bell, who is possibly more that a human (Hermes calls him Zeus grandson), so just like the spirit's blood makes Welf able to create his op magic swords or Ainz magic wind, Bell could have a body that can go beyond the human/mortal's limit

All too true friend, all too true...

Im late but what a wonderfull explanation of my favourite anime power system.
Funny thing is that Its only the surface. There are things left to consider. Let's do an analogy with games like wow/lol.
Increasing ur stats would be like having items,
while Leveling up is a sustancial power boost in stats base + level up your skills.
A higher level player would almost always win a duel against a unleveled one unless the difference in items were massive (Lets say Bell can fight higher level enemies because he has a monster items adventage = stats to SS+)
But Is it a chance for a player to outduel someone of BOTH higher level and itemization?
So basically leveling is quite hard and complex. Unless you are Bell and "everything just works" out for you right when you need it.

'Cause it's quite evident that if you take it purely on level and raw power Bell is clearly lacking
shade dust
Somehow i read Aiz as Ainz and I was about to say, wtf how do you even rank Bone Daddy.
Nice explanation
