Just wow! This group is incredible. Bringing back "REAL MUSIC".
When I hear King, I experience a huge release of Seratonin in my brain because(and not to sound like a super cornball, which I probably am anyway) it feels like I'm high on something, not joking, its like I feel immediate euphoria. I remember getting this same feeling when I was 11 and my father would play music by this group called "The Fifth Dimension" and this other group called "Brazil 66". I didn't understand at that age why that music made me feel that way but I just knew that I was starting to become drawn into this whole other world that I could get literally lost in for hours at a time, oblivious to everything around me at the time. Once my parents noticed this, they started to cultivate my musical palate by coming home once every 2 weeks(Payday) with vinyl records for me listen to. At that point they realized that all they had to do was bring home some music and I literally would stay in my room for hours and days at a time listening to that music and they wouldn't have to worry about my whereabouts. Now as an adult I understand their EVIL, CUNNING GENIUS! lol!

Congratulations on the Grammy nomination ladies!!! I feel so proud, been a fan since 2012, never looked at the music industry the same since...looking forward to what's next!!!
I've not yet pinned down every single thing but I've been studying King's multi-layered harmony for about a year now and one of subtle nuances that make their harmony sound so very different from other female groups is: If u listen very closely, Paris Strother, the twin who produces all of their tracks actually sings what I guess I would refer to as the female equivalent of male bass vocals on mostly all of their tracks, most females don't have the ability much less the desire to do this but Paris pulls this off without a hitch and it really adds a very unique roundness and fullness to King's sound. The only other female vocalist that I've heard actually do this on a recording is Lalah(The Vocal Gymnast) Hathaway. I'm sure Cassandra Wilson could do it as well but I've not heard a record with her doing it.
Interesting discovery you have here. There was something so unique and soulful I felt as I just discovered this song. It just takes you in. It's so lovely and smooth and their harmonies make you feel so good. Great song.
Tony Sizemore Hey! I love that analysis! But If I'm not mistaking, the lows or "female tenor" parts are all sung by Anita Bias (the one who isn't a twin)...lol. Amber Strother takes the highs/soprano lines. The unique blend on the harmony comes from the fact that in this particular song, Anita isnt doing a standard alto line. Her part isnt exactly paralleled to the top part and she dips in and out of that "tenor" to make the harmony hit differently...though, I'm pretty sure Paris is the genius behind what notes were chosen for this crazy, beautiful melody & harmony, being the group's producer 👌😎😊...her chords and arrangements are BANANAS 👐...been studying and enjoying these ladies since they first came out in 2011. #dopeness

My friend Ashton put me on you guys and when I heard this song and Supernatural I told her that the young lady who produced this is classically trained in music and probably went to a prestigious music school. Lo and behold on your site it says Paris attended Berkley for music and was an accomplished musician and composer. When I found Paris's website I couldn't stop beaming from the wonderful music you ladies have made. Two of the 5 songs were deleted though =(. God Bless u beautiful ladies.
