I used to work on a popular tourist route and I couldn't tell you the amount of American tourists we had insisting we rerun all their maxed out credit cards because how dare we suggest they had no credit left 🤣 It became a running gag with my colleagues and I, I'm sure this route is no different.
The terminals are super shit mate, sometimes I need to run it twice even with a new card. By the way, insufficient funds are a different error code, but that just shows your level of ignorance towards the customers and your job.
Thanks scott nothing like sounds and scenes of a train coming in fast too a station it does create slight tension but is great thanks again scott we love trains enjoyed thank you
Hi Scott! I've done the Railjet journey a number of times in both directions. Not to Budapest but Vienna from Salburg. The train separates in Vienna one part goes to Vienna Airport and other directly to Budapest. In vienna I go onto Bratislava and then an internal train in Slovakia. The Railjet is fast and comfortable but I've never tried the cafe and I think the toilet was OK that I can remember.
I've begun watching recently and would like to suggest you add costs, departure arrivals times and duration. Also how you purchased tickets, machine, online and so on.
I.have travelled OBB and CD Railjets many times mostly between Vienna and Prague and enjoyed every journey. Sorry you didn't. Next time try Business Class, If your journey starts or ends in Czechia you get VERY cheap fares on CD eshop website and meals are served at your seat!
Nice! 🙂 2:20 If you book with ÖBB, you can exactly choose your seat on a seating plan. 3:44 the whole 1st class and business class get at the seat dining car service, maybe she was held up there. 5:05 the dining car crew does not change.
@@kuzaikim Hi, yes, you only book tickets on almost all ÖBB trains. Reservations are almost always optional. But on routes like Vienna - Budapest they are highly recommended. It usually costs 3€. Make sure it is the same class as your ticket. Or buy both at once, then the app will choose it correctly for you. In the seat reservation dialogue, click on choosing the exact seat by plan, it also shows which seats are already taken. Classic reservation rules in Central Europe: you may sit wherever you want. If a reserved seat is not occupied 15 minutes after departure from that station, this seat is also freely available to everyone.
Great video (again). I've been thinking of making more train journeys instead of flights, especially as the price of airline tickets have gone up considerably.
The dining car crew stays the same, it has nothing to do with the origin’s country but with OBB. Been on a Münich- Vienna - BUD service back in 2018, they kept cancelling orders and ignoring pax in the first class cabin, so nothing changed really it seems.
Oh dear. Never had a problem with Railjet, only great experiences. Only thing was paying for meals; we had to chase them up several hours later to get them to take payment, but then that is I no way negative! At least you did not have to endure a compartment😒
Interesting to see that not all public transport on the continent is 100% perfect, as some would make out. Has Railjet blown all their chances to impress you now, Scott?
Such a shame to hear about your bad experience. I really live RailJet. Typically Munich-Budapest and back. But honestly I usually choose to their Business Class. Large Seats. Perfect service in seat from the dining car (also available in 1st class). But you are right. WiFi only works in Austria and (surprisingly) Germany. But as mobile data on the phone is also not available outside of the Györ. Tatabanya and Budapest I guess this is nothing you can blame RailJet for. About the staff in the trains: They only change the conductors and I guess also the engineers, the staff in the dining car usually travels all the way to Munich.
In 2015 I travelled Milan - Chambery by train, I knew where the toilets were, their presence was annouced by the smell drifting in the corridor. Many years prior I visited Budapest, travellign by train from Vienna to Kaleti station. I don't remember much but the journey was in a compartment coach, comfortable and very warm. Unlike outside which was freezing cold with snow on the ground.
I did Railjet in Business from Vienna to Prague and the experience couldn't have been better. Their app works great and the conductor took my drink orders at the seat. You may want to go in at least First as I think food/drink can be ordered at the seat. Adding: ÖBB tends to be fiddly with American credit/debit cards as we're chip-and-sign, and I've heard the card machines on Railjet tend to have more problems than not. Always carry some euros!
Well, Scott old mate, fourth time unlucky means give it the flick champion! Move on to another rail journey that has been tickling your fancy somewhat. Maybe in a large country, or maybe small. Maybe a metro line, or maybe regional. Even try those Mountain railways in the Himalayas. Thanks for some great viewing Scott. Keep it up old sausage!
I spent almost a month in Europe last summer and travelled around 6 different countries by train. They all had decent WiFi-except for those operated by the Hungarians. But at least they didn’t sell me a reservation for a non-existent seat, which is what happened in the Czech Republic. BTW, I did get a refund for that seat assignment.
It appears that the Railjet management does their job poorly. While the Austrians and Germans have a reputation for efficiency, it seems that they have little input on the operation of this line.
I’ve had very similar issues back in 2018, from Munich to BUD. they don’t seem to care it seems. And from MUC-VIE there was barely any pax announcements, despite the 2 hours delay.
I believe you are one unlucky guy. I just saw your video about an unlucky trip by Thalys. Imho Railjet is the best train in EU. Maybe you chose the worst service journeys.
It would make your life easier if you would not visit Europe! And ours as well! Railjet is one of the best rail-service provider on the Earth! So: just pls skip it! Your video is a shame!
I’ve watched your Videos for a while now but I think your running up against a brick wall now… No real info about the journey except it’s hard to get a coffee with a card and the toilet smells..🤷🏻♂️
Of course the Austrian side was more efficient. There was this famous Austrian who made the trains run on time in the 1930s and 40s. Whatever happened to him?🤔
@2:05 Love the mod-con of a sneezing light!
You fair get around mate! Another awesome video, enhanced by the lack of smell :)

Fantastic video again. Loved Vienna when visited last year.
Great video, and interesting glimpse at 2:43 of M61-019, a veteran locomotive, which entered service in 1964.
Another great Sunday night video. Thoughts of adventures rather than mundane work tomorrow. Cheers, Scott. Great stuff👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻
Great video as usual - many thanks.

Always interesting. Thank you.
I've made more Railjet journeys than I can remember all over Austria and never had an issue! Try 1st class, you'll get at seat service for your meals.
I’ve travelled on RailJet quite a lot and never had any problems!

Awesome video. The trip you did was so amazing and tremendous. 😊
A rear facing seat my favourite. I like to see where I am going NOT where I have been. EH?
Especially on aircraft, BA and EK herringbone J seats.
the regular train is perfectly acceptable.. no need to take Rauljet to/from Hungary. Wie Hbf is a real improvement over Westbahnhof
That happens to me too when we were travelling from Switzerland to Paris
Nice! 🙂

Hi.. is there any specific shown we book the seat if we go there? What if someone’s seat there? Or is it free seating if we are not booking?

OBB Railjet in my opinion is the best passenger service in Europe.
The dining car crew stays the same, it has nothing to do with the origin’s country but with OBB. Been on a Münich- Vienna - BUD service back in 2018, they kept cancelling orders and ignoring pax in the first class cabin, so nothing changed really it seems.
Going from Vienna to Budapest this year with rail jet.

Hi Skott, was there a passport control on the train when going to vienna in hungary?
Great video Scott

You WALKED from Vienna to Bratislava!? The bus fare is only about €5 (less if you book online.) Really enjoy your vids, though. Great variety.
I think the walk was for a challenge, though it's advertised as a bike route. Think the train is about 12 euro one way?
I will travel from Budapest to Vienna by train. I bought the tickets from the OBB app. I wonder if it is necessary to validate
My god the train Driver speaks fast or it could be pre record by staff ???
It is unlikely the wi-fi would work in Hungary but in Austria maybe!

Sir, you’re a glutton for punishment! We enjoy it all😎😵💫
I once did 50 miles in 18 hours for charity. Mentally I was fine but by less than half was a had a shin splint that became very painful by the end.
RegioJet is better. They do the same route. Vienna to Budapest
How to catch a train to from Margate to Budapest
What is 'waffting' may I ask?
Ticket cost, travel time?
You’ve been very unlucky !

I often hear of a choo choo train but it seems you got the poo poo train...LOL
4TH? Being Vienna it really should have been the 3rd man.
Sloppy Café and the stench not good
Confusion
If you like to see where you're going, why are you happy with a rear facing seat? Or was that irony?
Toilet wafts of the rich and famous! Celebrity toilet wafts! In the UK, it would be First & Second Class toilet wafts. 🚽🌬
Standard class, please. There are now no 2nd class customers. Whatever happened to passengers?
I believe you are one unlucky guy. I just saw your video about an unlucky trip by Thalys. Imho Railjet is the best train in EU. Maybe you chose the worst service journeys.
In German speaking countries... Use CASH ! ;-)
Best part about Budapest is that you can leave it
It would make your life easier if you would not visit Europe! And ours as well! Railjet is one of the best rail-service provider on the Earth! So: just pls skip it! Your video is a shame!

It was an infamous Italian who famously made the trains run on time... although it turns it it was only his own private train.
