So good to share your joy and many happy times using your serger. For those of you who may be new to sewing and just trying right now to get the sewing thing down or who might not want or be able to invest in a serger at this time like me. There is a presser foot thing called the side cutter you can put on your sewing machine.. It does an overcast stitch but unlike the overcast foot it stitches and trims the excess fabric at the same time. I love mine. I got mine on Amazon for around $47.00. There is a little learning curve but so easy. The main thing you need to do is manually move your needle up & down to make sure needle jumps the bar. I’ve been doing some sewing while on vacation and this was so easy to carry rather than a sewing machine & a serger. One day I might get a serger but for now my side cutter presser foot works great and saves so much time.
My Janome serger is getting on for 20 years old now and still going strong. The difference between this new one and your old ones will be like night and day! I am so happy for you.
Congratulations on your new serger Karina and thank you for sharing your joy!! It reminded me of when I got mine just 2 yrs ago. It definitely changes the way you sew! Enjoy.. Teri
Katrina, I am so happy for you, no one deserves it more than you. You are such an excellent teacher and I have learned so much from you. Thank you for everything you have taught me. Keep up the awesome work.
Differential Feed is so cool! You’re going to love it to gather, and when 2 layers aren’t flat, you can adjust it an voila! Perfect. Last year, with everything shut down, I tried to retread my 20 year old serger for 3 days, then found a sewing machine in the next town over and had them thread it. They were having their machines for half off for Mother’s Day. I went back the next day and bought the Babylock that threads itself, and automatically adjusts the tension. I’m in heaven. Things are opening up and I went to a half day class yesterday on how to use it. Heaven!
I’m so excited for you! I know you will love your new machine and it’ll make your life easier. I’ve been sewing for almost 40years and it was just 2 years ago that I got my first serger. I love it! I can’t live without it now. 😌
I'm so happy for you, Karina! If anyone deserves a sparkly new serger, it's you! Have fun learning about all the new features you've never had before. ❤️
I felt your excitement, Karina. I bought a Brother overlocker about five years ago after a lot of soul searching. Can’t imagine not having it now. I was a nervous wreck trying to thread it at first but now can do it in minutes. Also got a chair on wheels to slide between the machines. I’m looking forward to being more adventurous watching your voyage of discovery with yours. Many thanks.
Congrats on your new serger. You will love it. There are a lot of You tube videos to help. I am so fortunatev where I live that I have a dealer close by that gives lessons when you purchase your machine. Have fun.
Really thrilled for you to get your new machine. Its a great experience and with the amount of sewing you do and the experience you've passed on to us all, its the very least that you deserve. I wish for you - many happy years of sewing on your new machine. All the very best from Yorkshire, England.
Congratulations Karina, you will absolutely love your new serger. I upgraded to a Janome 744D earlier in the year, after having my three thread for more than 20 years. I had no idea about what the differential feed would do, and landed on the very helpful video from Chris, that you suggest. I feel like a whole new world of sewing has opened up to me now. I think converting to a three thread is as simple as removing the thread from the left needle. Enjoy your journey.
I have the exact same machine, just different code because I am in Europe. It was my first one, bought it 4 years ago. It never gave me a single issue. Threading the lower looper is a bit of a pain, but you are gonna love the differential feed, rolled hem, and all the other cool stuff :)
The new generation sergers can do so much! You ae going to love these new features once you have learned them! Your sewing of knits will be transformed!
Congratulations Karina, you are going to love it!!I have a Janome serger that I have had for over twenty years and it is still going strong, and I use it all the time!
How terrific! I can almost smell that "new machine" serger smell, like a new car. Sewing even faster than you already do! Wow! Congratulations and looking forward to your explorations with your new machine.
Thrilled for you. I bought a brother from eBay secondhand and I am still learning. You can pull off the little cone at the back to put on your larger cone. Lots of love...you deserve it you work so hard.
How wonderful, Karina! Enjoy learning with your new machine. I know I did when I got my very first serger (or overlocker, as we call it in South Africa) just eighteen months ago. I share your excitement 🥰
Very Nice video, thank you. My wife has a Janome Sewing machine and I know that she wants a Serger; I think that I will get her this model for her upcoming birthday.
Love how excited you are about your new Janome. I’m sitting rethreading my Janome 8002DG (which looks exactly the same as yours !!). My engineer guy told me to “hand crank” the first few stitches when I’ve rethread it then test the stitches on a scrap of fabric. Love my overlockers (also have a very very old Toyota which I keep threaded with dark colours). Enjoy your new “toy” Karina 🤓🏴
So happy for you Karina. I upgraded my serger from a 3 thread to a 5 thread machine. I know the learning curve is real. I still haven’t braved the cover-stitch capability.
When I got my serger I took a class on using a serger and I made a sample book of all the techniques using a serger and what the settings were. I can reference these samples and the settings. You will learn to love your serger even more if you try some of these techniques.
Love your excitement!!❤️ I found you tube videos very handy in learning how to thread my new serger, when I got confused with the instructions. Good luck! Search by your model number, but it might be called something else in the US. If your search provides you with a Janome serger that looks like yours, go with it.
Congratulations on the new overlocker, you are going to love 💖💖 it,l cannot wait for your overlocker/serger Tutorials’s 🤭🤔😀. I have got 2 Singer heavy duty ones and a Brother one. So I don’t have to keep changing the colour threads. I do all my knit / jersey fabrics on the overlocker. It is a lot quicker. Enjoy getting to know it.
I was able to get a used serger 3 months ago and I wonder how I got along without one for so long! It's an older Janome but it works and that's what counts. Congratulations on your new purchase and have fun learning all the features. I'm still experimenting and can't wait to see what you learn and share with us.
Get a notebook and make samples of all the stitches and different fabrics , tape the samples in the notebook with the settings you used. Makes it easier to adjust the setting when sergering different fabrics and stitches.
Delighted with you for your new serger! You are always such a blessing in sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm for sewing with us! You are an inspiration and wonderful teacher. Thank you 😊
I'm sooo happy for you! I also used the green chinezinha machine but I want a more modern overlocker and the Janome 7933D is one of the few I'm finding here in Brazil. I'm very thankful for your video!! Muito obrigada! Deus te abençoe!
I realize this was a year ago but I just want to say I am sending you joy and happiness. I hope your serger has been helpful to you, I know mine is. I have a 4-thread White 534 I purchased in 1989 and a 5-thread Huskylock 936 from 2007 that can convert to coverstitch. FWIW I converted it back and forth for years and one day I just snapped and purchased a Janome CoverPro 1000CPX. Anyway, hope you have many happy years with your new baby!
I share your excitement! I just bought a used Bernina coverstitch/serger. I will be looking forward to you incorporating your serger techniques so I can learn too. Thank you so much for all the information and inspiration!
Ooohh, you're going to have so much fun. I can't sew without my serger. I just learnt to do a flatlock on my serger. Looks lovely as a decorative touch on active wear
So glad for you. I have had my Jenome serger since 1996 and it is still perfect. My repair guy says Jenome sergers are the best workhorses and he recommends them to everyone. Good choice then!
Idk if anyone's already mentioned in the comments but in any case, I think this is the same as the Janome mod 8933. I recently got what I believe is the same serger and I'm loving it. It's my first serger so I'm learning as I go but so far it's been a pretty positive experience! There first time I used it I rethreaded the machine. It is time consuming compared to a regular sewing machine but apart from one finicky spot on the lower looper, it's not as bad as I thought. Happy sewing!
Hi Karina, your joy and excitement was fun to watch. Looking forward to following the journey as you learn all about your new serger. Beware knits may become an obsession 😉
If anyone deserves a brand new serger, it's you! Enjoy!
Congratulations Karina. Being the great teacher you are i know we will be getting great overlocker tutorials from you.

Congratulations, you won't look back now. I wouldn't be without mine. Have fun playing.
I am so excited for you you will not ever look back you will love it forever.
As mentioned, Chris has wonderful videos. In addition, Gali Patrice Design and Deb Canham all have lots of great videos, too. Enjoy your new serger!
Your teaching videos are always worth the wait. Congratulations on the new serger
Yeah, I'm super happy for you, enjoy every moment with your new serger 😊👌

Get a notebook and make samples of all the stitches and different fabrics , tape the samples in the notebook with the settings you used. Makes it easier to adjust the setting when sergering different fabrics and stitches.
absolutely fantastic suggestion
How fun. Thank you for sharing your excitement.
You deserve it with your love for sewing.
Enjoy it. Happy Sewing.
Happy for you!
