I seriously believe we can be friends 😂😂....like I have no one to stan with stray kids...like my family and friends are not into kpop...and it feels so good to watch smn who is as into stray kids as I am😅

I feel like if I went around asking my family and friends if they like Kpop, most would have no idea what I'm even talking about, and less than that would have ever listened to a song. So I feel ya. But hey, people surprise me all the time. I could have friends who are STAY, but we've just never talked about music.

Some do, yeah. There are some platforms that it can be monetized. Others have a lot of followers and take it seriously. I don't charge much for a simple once-over. Changlix and Minsung are the pairings I see the most in my YT suggestions feed.

Didn't manage to catch the livestream, but as always your reactions are lovely thank you for the content~
I would recommend you the video "han jisung ending thieves careers" by the channel closer to the edge. It has bits from both Finding Stray Kids (season 1, episode 4) and Fandom Tour (episode 4) where the kids played a game.
I think the edited video should be safe for youtube.
Also since you mentioned reacting to some more random music that sounds like a super cool idea ^^ maybe you could also take a look at other enseble/collab performances like that Christmas one you posted on patreon

Man, i don't even have the patience for a 2 hour movie these days, but you manage to make me interested in watching a 3 hour album review and an almost 2 hour live-stream, lol. Didn't catch this live, but i turned on post notifications so maybe the next one! I think reacting to some stand alone songs from different artists might be fun! I'm trying to think of what you might enjoy and honestly my first thought is NCT. Definitely not a group you'd have time to deep dive into (they have 23 members all divided into sub-units lol) but to me I've always thought their music was in a similar experimental category as SKZ. You might enjoy "Simon Say's", "Kick It" or "BOSS". Those are some of their more hype ones. They're a little less rap heavy than SKZ but their vocals are some of the best in 4th Gen Kpop.
I'm curious what kind of stuff you're interested in checking out more casually. Are you looking for things that are specifically your taste? Or things that are really culturally relevant to Kpop, like the basics that pretty much everyone knows and likes? Or just a smattering of different genres, lol? Cause i have so much music in mind you could potentially check out and enjoy but i don't want to bombard you with suggestions for stuff you aren't particularly interested in.
P.S. please don't feel like you have to take any of my suggestions as requests. It's just stuff i'm throwing out there in case you're interested!

Thanks for watching! I'm getting long winded these days, I guess.
I always enjoy the suggestions. Now that you mention it, I'd be looking for a good mix of music I enjoy and music that is popular/important. The kind of music I enjoy, I would be able to appreciate that at face value. The stuff that is more relevant to the basics but I may not be too into, I'd want to check it out, but a little assistance on why it's being put forth as a 'must listen' would be appreciated.

@@kpopauntie Okay good to know! I'll have to do a little more thinking about stuff you might like, but here are some very famous/iconic basics that essentially everyone in Korea knows and also references a lot:
"Fantastic Baby" and "BANG BANG BANG" by Big Bang are legendary. Probably their two most famous songs. They're referred to as the "Kings of Kpop" because they pioneered so many things that are common place today, such as having a hand in the producing, the invention of official lightsticks for concerts, referring to the youngest of the team as "maknae" and many more things. This song helped get me into kpop many years ago. Side note, they're a group that's had many scandals unfortunately, but the biggest one has resulted in one of the 5 members leaving and being arrested. He's currently serving his sentence. Just mentioning to avoid confusion if you see anything related to that.
"Ring Ding Dong" and "Lucifer" by SHINee are also classics. The hair? Absolutely tragic. But classics nonetheless. Ring Ding Dong was put on a list of "banned" songs to listen to before taking the SAT exam because it's so catchy that you can't concentrate once it's stuck in your head.
"Growl" by EXO is jokingly nicknamed Korea's National Anthem it's so well known and popular. Definitely legend status even though it only came out in 2013.
"Love Scenario" by IKON is one of those songs that everyone LOVES even if they don't like IKON. You've heard a part of it from the mashup that IKON performed on Kingdom. It was especially popular with children oddly enough. So popular in fact, that it's banned in a lot of elementary schools because the kids wouldn't stop singing it.
These are all some good ones to start with if any interest you! I realize I only listed boy groups though. There's a lot of iconic girl group songs as well but if i'm being honest, I don't listen to nearly as much music by girls groups as I do boy groups. Mostly because of the vocal style. Quite a lot of kpop female artists tend to veer more on the nasally, high pitched side. I gravitate more towards deeper female voices and there aren't many of those in kpop.

    • @kpopauntie
      @kpopauntie  2 года назад

@@brennak5044 Agreed on the female voices. If I have a favorite in the US pop industry, it would have to be Pink. Much more my style.
What an epic list! Thank you. I've pretty much copy and pasted everything. That gives me a great start to get into some of the popular Kpop. Popular Kpop is redundant, isn't it? Maybe just emphatic. I may start my journey this week. I'm thinking of doing an end of the month top three songs as well. We'll see how ambitious I get.
