GIBSON dumps to Canada rejects. The pick was set too high to compensate bridge being too high; lowering the bridge created string buzzzzzzz... ;) changing truss rode tension did not help. I gave the bass to repair department, and that's exactly what they did: screwing pickups down, resulting in poor output. Besides, strings were too high above normal, making it hard to play.. Thanks for help! I gave up on it (Fenders J&P basses do just fine!) I got my money back from the store the next day
hey, read discussion below, lol if you ever do that ;) THE BASS IS NOT UP TO GIBSON's specs.. the angle is incorrect, thats why the distance between strings and guitar can not be reduced, thus playing position is BAD Well, 'screwing down' would make pickups useless; using foam would be fine on CHEAP guitar from second hand shop, not the special order, three years delivery ;) in addition, when you use foam you cant rest your finger there.. plus 100 more 'why it is not a solution'.. cheers
the big problem is the incorrect angle; if you watch this video for real.. ..you'll see the screw is hardly touching the wood and the pickup is way too much up... you are welcome to use extra long screw and have pickup to float over the body of YOUR bass :) cheers, keep on rocking (or else)
bringing pickups up high WAS the only simple fix (and it did not work); anything else involved string buzz or rebuilding the guitar itself ;) note: the neck is not bolted, so you could not use shim... ...good enough? double cheers, mate
you must be working for GIBSON ;) this bass (pre ordered, a few years waiting time) came in totally bad shape; we did side by side comparison to Epies TB by the way, and no one in repair department said it is a good bass, comon... ...Our conclusion: GIBSON ships to Canada what they can't sell in US knowing it won't come back. GIBSON DOES NOT TAKE BACK FROM CANADA and NO LIFE WARRANTY FOR CANADA. L&M took it back no arguments, money back, I did not pass their return policy. This time I did not!
please, read the comment and discussion below this bass build with incorrect angle so 'screwing down won't (and did not) help... the major point: NO LIFETIME WARRANTY IN CANADA, NO SHIPPING BACK from the store, only whatever your local store policies! Beware! read comments and discussions for vids you watch ;) cheers

Congratulations, you're the ashamed owner of a new Gibson!

Ah yeah, you're right. There was rotting foam underneath the pickups in a '65 Precision Bass I owned. What a cheap piece of shit...
