      Fyre SG the original Wizard X220 😅

    • @fyresg
      @fyresg  7 лет назад

      Currently, X220S is USD33 more expensive than X220, and the important improvements (that matter to most pilots) are: better FPV camera, durable VTX, and maybe the rear buzzer+LEDs. The other components e.g. F4 FC, taller motors, 5051 props, Runcam 3 mount, Pagoda antenna, etc, do not significantly impact performance. If you can afford the additional cost, go for X220S, otherwise you should be fine with X220. Hope that helps!

    Awesome review sir! At what cell voltage do you stop flying a battery and put it in the charge pile?

    • @fyresg
      @fyresg  7 лет назад +2

      Thank you! 😀
      I stop at when the OSD says 14.0V while in flight. When it lands and at rest, voltage raises to around 15.0V, which is the recommended "storage voltage" for 4S.

    Hi! I have a question: short the SBUS pads to use SBUS protocol, means to solder up the second and the third pad together? And as you get the RSSI signal, you have on your osd the battery voltage too? Thanks!

    • @fyresg
      @fyresg  5 лет назад +1

      Yes, that's what shorting it means.
      I don't understand your second question.

    • @francescorobotti7632
      @francescorobotti7632 5 лет назад

      @@fyresg the second question is a newbie one, I mean: does xm+ let you know via OSD lipo voltage, and other parameters as fly time?

    • @fyresg
      @fyresg  5 лет назад +1

      If you have OSD, then you will be able to configure it to display lipo voltage, flight time, RSSI, etc. It has nothing to do with xm+ or not. It has to do with the OSD supported features. Typically, you can get all these values easily in OSD, with XM+ or any other receivers.

    Thanks for your excellent review! I'm finally setting up my X220s and this was so much help. One quick question, my XM+ doesn't seem to be giving RSSI to aux 12/ch16 like yours? I set it up how you showed, is there any reason you know of why it wouldn't work? Thanks again!

    • @fyresg
      @fyresg  7 лет назад

      Some XM+ comes with old firmware that doesn't support RSSI output. You need to flash it with your TX, and the steps are very easily found. I showed it very briefly in Part 2 of my FuriBee X215 Pro series.

    Hi!!! I'm sorry to disturb you for an old video but i just bought the same quad and i have a question about the stock cam: do you know if it's possible to connect an osd board to tune the camera settings (for example to enable the WDR)?
    Thank you very much for you help and very compliments for your videos and your channel!!!

    • @fyresg
      @fyresg  6 лет назад

      Hi, thanks for your message, I'm not disturbed! :) I don't think it's possible to change settings because there isn't any OSD ports exposed on the board. Unfortunately, this is a basic camera with minimal features; we have to live with its limitation.

  • @txcowboyfpv7898

    I actually got alot of my knowledge from project blue falcon. Watching his technical support and tutorial downloads are the reason I'm as far along in the Fpv world as I am . Watch his films and you will be amazed of how much you can learn and achieve and be able to help others achieve there goals also. Im hear for you if you need anything else. New build, set up esc especially 32 bit. Flight controller set up, betaflight conf. 3.2 etc. I'm hear for you if needed.

    • @fyresg
      @fyresg  7 лет назад

      Don't get me wrong, but I do watch a lot of technical videos, and that's why I had done the capacitor mod in the first place. If you watched Joshua Bardwell's video, you'll see he swears by *adding a capacitor to each ESC* instead of just one at the battery leads, which you had suggested. He explains the reasons succinctly in his video.
      The problem here was my *carelessness* rather than my lack of knowledge. Your reply triggered me to check my capacitor mod, and then I uncovered my mistake.

    oh, I have another question. I saw on the RTF that It comes with an iRangeX iR-A8S receiver but I already have the classic FlySky FS-i6 with the FS-i6B receiver. I can bind them with the X220S ARF? Are my FS-i6 tx and FS-i6B receiver compatible with the Ómnibus F4?

    • @fyresg
      @fyresg  7 лет назад

      I'm not familiar with the TX and RX, but from the specifications, FS-i6 and, FS-iA6B, iRangeX IR-A8S, are all using the same RF protocol, so they should work with one another. In other words, you can use your FS-i6 TX with the IR-A8S receiver. If you want to use FS-iA6B on X220S, you have to confirm that FS-iA6B supports PPM, and know how to connect that to the flight controller. I only got SBUS working; while I'm sure PPM works, I don't really know the exact connection.
      Please ask Banggood Customer Service to be sure.

    • @fyresg
      @fyresg  7 лет назад +1

      I'm not familiar with FlySky stuff so I can't give direct help. Since your TX says it has detected the RX, that means they are binded.
      I'd guess the RX mode on the FC is wrong: configured for PPM but RX is actually SBus? Other than PPM vs SBus, check if it should have been iBus too.

    • @awebs047
      @awebs047 7 лет назад

      Fyre SG the rx is setup in ibus and also on betaflight. I soldered the fc for sbus, do u think maybe I need to solder it for ppm since I need ppm enabled on my tx for ibus to work? I'm gonna give it ago lol

      When you say you turn it on, do you mean you go to the Command Line Interface, to run commands to turn on the barometer?
      Even if the barometer is "bad", it would not affect flight unless its at altitude hold flight mode.

    Actually, the frame is not 100% carbon fiber from what I read in a lot of places... that's why it seems to break so easily. I'm new to FPV drones, considered buying a Wizard 220S but a lot of people on the internet advice to stay away from them, especially if you're beginning and might crash a lot.

    • @fyresg
      @fyresg  6 лет назад +1

      This is true, but this is not a huge deal. It's cheap, and it breaks, but that may not be a bad idea to some. Newbies do crash hard, but sometimes they do that over soft grass, or sometimes they get lucky, and get away without breaking the frame. In this way, the impact of the inferior frame is mitigated.
      Crashing and breaking don't just occur to newbies. Advanced pilots tend to break parts *more* than newbies because they do riskier moves, and fly much faster. Personally, I did lots of aggressive moves with my X220S, and I crashed it a lot. The arms survived fine but the not the top plate. All in all, I wouldn't say discourage newbies to X220S.

    • @Hexalyse
      @Hexalyse 6 лет назад

      Fyre SG OK interesting to know about good pilots breaking more parts because of speed and risk taken. I think I'll go for a Furibee X215, but maybe I'll try the wizard in the future.

    • @fyresg
      @fyresg  6 лет назад +1

      There are some issues with X215 Pro. I've done a couple of videos on it. My friend broke the arm of his X215 Pro, so you might wanna get some spares.

    • @Hexalyse
      @Hexalyse 6 лет назад

      Fyre SG I've seen the issue about the FPV lines but seems easy to fix. Are there other issues?
      And yes I'll definitely order some spare parts, whichever drone I finally choose.
      It's a hard choice, I've been reading and watching reviews for several days. Spent hours and hours and still can't decide!
      Also I've been told to begin with a micro like the lizard 95 because it doesn't break even if it crashes. But I won't be able to later put a camera on it if I want HD footage :/

    • @fyresg
      @fyresg  6 лет назад

      The main issue is the VTX lines, and is easily fixed. The other issue would be the arms breaking on a hard crash, but that is normal; just get spare arms.
      To be honest, the best way to start is to learn with a "tame" micro. Lizard95 is not exactly tame because its props are exposed. You should really go for platforms with rings protecting the props, e.g., Inductrix, Aurora 90, etc. Not only will you not hurt anyone, you will have more confidence, less stress while learning, and allows you to concentrate more on flying.
