    It's way harder to move a whole laser diode assembly than to move a very lightweight polycarbonate mirror with a tiny magnet chip on it.

    • @MahouSama545
      @MahouSama545 3 месяца назад +6

      It would still be easier to move the foundation the laser is mounted to.

      Moving a mirror is still harder than moving electrons in a vacuum, right?

      @@1994AustinSmiththat's going into the realm of CRT. This is a laser display it's photons moving not electrons but yes it would be easier to bend the path of the electrons

      That's the exact reason why Texas Instruments DLP devices are fake.

    • @unpaidintern6652

      Thats how actual laser projectors work. Instead of moving the diode they have a small mirror with a magnet on it that gets turned by running varied current through a coil.

    • @Moonstone-Redux
      @Moonstone-Redux 3 месяца назад +1

      Confocal laser scanning microscopes also do the same thing to precisely move the laser beam in a grid pattern. When they were first invented the original idea was to move the entire microscope stage along the X-Y axis until precision electronics got good enough to move the laser beam.

    • @satibel
      @satibel 2 месяца назад +1

      also that's how DLP projectors work, except there's more mirrors and they are really tiny. (and a lot of commercial DLP use LEDs as the light source instead of a laser.)

    Use the coils from a VCR capstan motor, flat coil air core type. Glue 4 tiny neodymium magnets to the laser diode. All 4 with the same pole facing outward or alternate NSNS. Make the laser diode support spring a fairly stiff one with some vibration damping on it. Next run it with quad op amp with 4 half bridge drivers. It wont do fast animations but if you want simple eyecandy stuff its fine.❤

      How you gonna get a webcam to spit out frames even close to the speed of eyesight? And then run OpenCV and then compensate with that feedback...

    • @celestinemachuca2339
      @celestinemachuca2339 3 месяца назад +1

      @@dylpickle8147 u can use still low speed opencv for feedback in how depending on the coil it converts to x y values. Then crank the speed up. If u were to make a x pattern while cranking up the speed u could see the change on the x and y with speed as one frame gets captures which due to the shutter speed will probably capture the entire movement in one go. I guess u could implement a pid loop and tune with it with a pre movement calibration. I am just giving ideas on how to do it :s.
