You can smoke a cigar any way you want. BUT I think you would get more of the intended experience if you actually put the head of the cigar in your mouth, between your teeth. You get the flavor of the tobacco leaves in addition to the favors in the smoke. Just my 2 cents from a 35 year cigar smoker.
Would highly recommend the La Aroma De Cuba Mi Amor it’s made at the My Father factory, chocolate delight low spice I think you’ll enjoy it. In the MF lineup the Flor De las Antillas Maduro I think would also fit your palate well, the original blend with a sun grown wrapper is fantastic too. Nice video Jacob thank you!

you should try putting steak sauce or worshesister sauce on a cigar i havent tried it myself and to be perfectly honest i just made it up but it sounds kinda good if i do say so myself
You should light the cigar until the ash is white or gray depending on the cigar,it matters a lot also to the flavor of the cigar,that's why you didn't like the cigar cause you didn't lit it enough

Gotta puff it and let the initial smoke out between puffs to get it to temp before taking your actual puff.
If you exhale through the nose (retrohale) you will get more of the aroma and flavour the cigar offers
