wow, looked good. Grilled chicken looked yum. I did not know there was a Peddler in NC either. We have been to the one in Gatlinburg and liked it. Thanks for going and taking us along. Liked seeing this one. God bless.
I LOVE the idea of filling out the card for the salad! (And I am a Peddler fan....the GB one is the one we have gone to over and over)............love your reviews always. God bless you.
The owner of the Boone location also recently left a comment, to tell me that they are not actually affiliated with the other locations. The person inside the restaurant told me that they were, but I assume the owner would know more than the employee would. The filling out the card was fine, considering you can still get all you can eat salad. I am glad, however, that I tried the mushrooms. I really, really enjoyed those, and thought they were generous with the portion. Thanks so much for watching, and God bless you and yours!
this is a great review ,i had no clue that peddler had one in north carolina ,i love the peddler in gatlinburg , i love the salad bar thank you for sharing
Hi, I own the Peddler in Boone! Thank you for the review. I can answer a couple of questions you raised in your review - We are not associated with any other Peddler. It used to be a franchise, but we have all been independent for many years (also why we don't have the cake from Gatlinburg etc) The chicken is marinated in pineapple juice and teriyaki To clarify for anyone who hasn't been, the restrooms are single occupancy - I don't want anyone to misunderstand and think we are expecting you to share a restroom with someone of different sex. It's a one user at a time situation. The bathrooms aren't meant to be woke or political - I'm not the type to risk alienating half of my potential customers by taking a public political stance (and who cares what a restaurant owner thinks about foreign policy anyways!). I just noticed that there was often a very long line for the women's room while the men's was open, and women were using the men's room to avoid waiting anyway, so it made sense to me to just go with the flow. It never occurred to me that this could be construed as a political statement. I appreciate you featuring my restaurant on your channel. Next time you come in (the weather is BEAUTIFUL this time of year) say hi - you'll know it's me because I'm the only person in their mid 40's working. Have a great day!
Hello, and thank you for reaching out with some clarity on some things. As we stated in the video, we really enjoyed our experience here, and thought the food was top notch. No complaints there. We certainly will be in again, and would love to say "hello". We were told by the person seating us, that you were affiliated with the one in Gatlinburg, so that is why we said that. I understand from you, that is not the case. In regards to the other issue that was raised concerning the restrooms, I understand and understood that they were single occupancy. However, that is not really the problem I have with it. I would like to discuss that further, but would rather do that through private message. Is there a way that I can do that?
Absolutely. When we started doing these videos, I had no idea that there would be so many people that would get so upset about A-1. Pretty much every time I eat a steak, somebody has to make a comment. I figured as long as they're going to do that, I'll make sure they see me putting it on....LOL!
When we first saw the sign we both thought it was very similar to the one in Gatlinburg. Your steak looked very good! I agree with you about the salad bar. That is one thing the Peddler in Gatlinburg is know for. You would think that this one would have a salad bar as well. They did fix Shawnasi a big salad. I thought her chicken breast was rather small for that price. But everything did look good and if we get to the Boone area we will have to give it a try. Hope you two have a great weekend and God Bless!
Yes, if y'all are in the Boone area, I would highly recommend this one. Y'all have heard me say before, that I was a little bit underwhelmed by my steak at the one in Gatlinburg, but this one was just the opposite. Very good, tender, and cooked to perfection. Yes, them taking out the salad bar was disappointing. From what I understand, they did have it at one time, although this restaurant is smaller on the inside than the one in Gatlinburg. So, maybe that had something to do with it. There are some other upcoming reviews we will be doing from the Boone area. A couple of them, are places we haven't been to in years.
One in Raleigh NC that my wife and I have been going to for 30+ yrs. We have eaten at he one in Boone several times as well. Both are equally great!! My mom is friends with the original owner of the Boone location.
@JB-70 Yes, several people have mentioned that there's one in Raleigh, and also in Greenville. The manager of the one in Boone commented here and told me they are all independent, and not affiliated with each other, which surprised me. Given that they have some similarities with each other, I thought that they would sort of be connected in some way.
Yes, I am aware that Greenville has one, as does Raleigh. But the manager of this one, told me that they are independent of each other, and not affiliated with each other. I was surprised by that.
Yes, that is true. The Peddler is sort of known for being pricey. Even the one in Gatlinburg, tends to be a bit more expensive than the other places in town.
I don't like going to bathroom where you have to share i think they should have male and female bathroom in public places food looks good enjoy God bless you both
😂This is unbelievable. Do not understand this reasoning at all. You know you don’t all go in at the same time right? Just laughable. Just something to complain about I guess.
@seanjone4574 Actually, I guess you left this comment for something to complain about. Did you bother to ask our reasoning, or do you just want to make assumptions to start trouble? Very likely, the reason that you don't understand our thinking, is because you didn't bother to ask what it was. You just want to come and mock. This is the wrong channel for you to be doing that. If you really want to know our reasoning, I'll be happy to explain it to you. If you don't, and you just want to start something, you can move on. Which is it?
@seanjone4574 You literally asked in another comment that I didn't see prior to this one, then proceeded to tell us how foolish it was, and I don't have time for somebody with a closed mind. Like I said, you're not going to do that here. You can ask your question, and you can approach us respectfully, and you'll be treated the same way. Now, I am a little amazed that I actually have to explain this. But men and women urinate differently. Women sit down, and men stand up. Men tend to not always aim very well, and either can splatter the toilet seat, or dribble on the floor. If you've ever been in men's restrooms, I'm sure you have observed this phenomenon firsthand. My wife should not have to use the restroom in the manner that women do, on a toilet seat that has been subjected to such unsanitary conditions, nor should she have to clean it, if she happens to be in there right after the incident has occurred. That's the main reason...Sanitation. Men tend to be nasty and not clean up after themselves. Secondly, it would avoid an embarrassing experience, like I had in an Italian restaurant in the mountains over a year ago. Granted, that place only had one restroom, so they had no choice. But the lady who was occupying the restroom, failed to shut the door correctly, so it seemed unoccupied. I literally walked in on her as she was sitting on the toilet. Kind of embarrassing, to say the least. Now, had that been another man in there, it would not have been nearly as awkward. Therefore, when a restaurant has the capability of having 2 restrooms in their facility, it saves a lot of embarrassment and awkwardness, to designate one for males, and one for females. It seems that places with that capability, would be more interested in the comfort and peace of their customers, than trying to show how woke they are, in catering to a very small minority. Most sensible people with common sense, are sick of it. So, your little comment about everybody not going in at the same time, was foolish and rather short-sighted. I will chalk it up to you just not thinking. If a person who is in there does not shut the door correctly and leaves the appearance of it being unoccupied, then yes, 2 people can end up there at the same time. And again, that's not nearly as big of a deal if it's someone of the same gender. There is absolutely no good reasoning and no amount of logic, to have 2 restrooms, and not have one for each gender. And now, the one I'm sure you were waiting for.....Both men and women have the right to use a restroom without someone of the opposite sex in it. Just because someone else may be confused about their own gender, does not make everyone else obligated to play along. I hope that cleared up for you, what I believe is a very common sense issue. In short, it provides women a cleaner restroom, and it avoids awkward situations like the one I encountered myself.
We’re going to have to pass on the Boone Peddler. We’ve been so accustomed to the great salad bar at the Gatlinburg location. Also the “Woke” bathrooms just don’t flush with us. Your food looked very good! Thanks for another great video!!!
I completely understand, about the bathrooms. I could have said more about that, and why I think they did it that way, but my thoughts on that, are probably best left out of the video. And yes, even though her salad was good, it is nice to have that big salad bar. I will say, that I actually liked the steak better at this one. The last steak I got at the one in Gatlinburg, was just not worth what I paid for it. Maybe it was just an off night.
The salad bar went away during Covid and they really should bring it back. It was loaded with everything you could want. Also had all sorts of cheeses, a big "vat" of French Onion soup (that they now charge for) and even caviar. Used to eat there every time we were in Boone, but it honestly isn't as good as it used to be. The last couple times we ate there the steaks were tasteless and nowhere near worth what they charge now. If you haven't been there, try Stone Walls up in Banner Elk. Went there last fall and had the best NY Strip I've ever had. It's not cheap either, but far better than Peddler has been the last couple times.
Yes, they will do that, at least. But one of the things about the other location in Gatlinburg, is that they actually have a salad bar in the restaurant, and you can go up and get everything that you want that way.
Hahhahaha! I think y’all’s closing comments should have been recorded in the car. I was starting to feel cold watching you man lol! But how fitting that your table was labeled A1?! Anyway, thanks for your review, it really helps when planning a trip. I think we’ll skip this one when in Boone. The prices and the food mismatched as much as the bathrooms.
Yeah, I didn't notice that about the numbering of the table, until I was editing the video later. That was something else. It can stay pretty chilly in these North Carolina mountains, even on into May and June. I should have worn long sleeves.
The rolls are Sister Shubert you can by them in the frozen at the grocery store.. The butter must be land of lakes butter balls you can buy them at the grocery store. Lord didn't want you to have chocolate cake plus your on a diet.
@BigEd1971 Well, I am in the process of losing some, but I'm not going to lose all of it at once, and I'm not going to stop eating. Just eating more sensibly and exercising more.
Totally insane about the restrooms. How was the bread? Looked kinda iffy. You really don't like aluminum foil in your baked potato? 😂 Nice review as always. God bless you both.
I agree, about the restrooms. If they have 2 restrooms, there's no reason not to designate them. The bread was basically store-bought. Not bad, but certainly not made in-house. It was decent. Thanks for watching, and God bless.
Good review. As for the restrooms, wait until you see unisex restrooms in a church! I have. No, I didn't go back. @cathybriggs5846 Yes, it is just common sense. Even if it is for single use occupancy, there could always be an embarrassing situation like I had in an Italian restaurant one time. There was a lady in the restroom who didn't lock the door, and I walked in on her. That's the problem with things like that. If I walk in on another man, it's not a big issue. Looks good but a bit expensive and I agree it would be better to actually have a salad 🥗 bar. I probably would’ve done what you did and skipped the salad and gotten another side.
Yes, it was disappointing that they didn't have the salad bar. But, I did at least get to enjoy the great mushrooms. Right now, we have salad greens coming out of our garden constantly, so I'm eating salads pretty much every day, anyway.
Food looked great. Hate they think they need to be politically correct with the bathroom situation. Glad to see the A1 made an appearance ! Have you worn those socks yet, lol?
Oh, yeah. I just wasn't wearing them last night. Wish I had. If people keep harassing me over A-1 the way they have lately, I'm probably going to wear them out to a restaurant and give them something to remember, by putting my legs up on the table. I already show the A-1 bottle just to annoy those people. When we started this, I never thought in a million years, that there would be people who thought it was okay to tell a grown man how to eat. It's mind-boggling, really. Like I haven't eaten enough steaks over the years, to have finally figured out how I like them...LOL. Thanks for watching!

There is a Peddler in Greenville SC also.
