I've been playing loosely for 25 years and I'm a recording engineer and I've NEVER heard harmonics like that. They're really beautiful and it's blowing my mind to hear something that new. Wonderful job. (And seriously, we need a harmonic tutorial.)

It often get's overlooked and a comment I often get from people in person is that I'm pretty good but not that good and need to reach the next level like other guitarists like on candyrat etc, that I can't play fast and that I play simple albeit nice melodies that need singing and other accompaniment - and that's all fine - I am always striving to become a better guitarist and musician - but to have someone appreciate the work that has gone behind the technique and composition is really nice! So thank you and all the best with your own guitar journey!

I found out about you from a guy learning this song (took him 2 years he said) and I had to see who's song it was. Now I've listened to all of your stuff I can find and love it all. This one is extra special.
"Practice makes better" is the version I like. That way you will not feel so discouraged by not being perfect but instead appreciate that you are getting better.
@@RMate-bu7se You can do some on the 9th and 7th frets, but they are not as loud that one on the 12th. Too, you can do harmonics just after the last fret (on the soundhole)

My favorite part about learning the Bell Harmonic technique, myself, is that even if I "miss" the harmonic or get a partial, it still sounds great because the note is still in key! Thought I'd share my (yet again) great appreciation for showing us this incredible technique. Thank you, Alan!

first the already mesmerizing fingerpicking, then in some unexplainable way adds the worlds most beautiful harmonics, then multitasking even further- adds the palm 'kick'... but what really was the icing on the cake was the thumb 'snare' on top of all of that.. just how? its like 4 instruments

I figured out the technique and the tuning and I’m learning the song now by watching, it is the most satisfying thing ever to play, thank you for creating this!! 🙏🙏🙏
From what I can tell, it's sort of like doing a pinch harmonic but flicking the string with your fretting hand for the pick aspect of it and having your right hand in position to hit the spot where the pinch harmonic would be. That and some natural harmonics based off of where the capo is.

"Practice makes better" is the version I like. That way you will not feel so discouraged by not being perfect but instead appreciate that you are getting better.
I heard that harmonics are only produced 12 strings away from the fret, but this guy seems to do it only a further frets away

daniel reeves As the metal strings get stiffer, they begin to sound more like bells since the sound become less harmonic
I'm fairly sure he's not using standard tuning as well, which could make it easier to find/play the right harmonics potentially?
