This guy does a great job with making an easy task look difficult while trashing Jeep design. Ive driven Jeeps fkr over 30 years and find rhem one of the easiest platforms to do your own work. Their light bulb engineering is much easier than Acura or MB or a host of others. This job takes 15 mins for someone who actually uses his tools more than when he wants to make a video of himself.
Thanks for the heads up on this. I have to change the housing out on mine tomorrow, as the lens fell off out of nowhere. I assume it was from the glue dry rotting. Will probably be a little more challenging, but I've got this. Thanks!
you can change the bulb without doing this i just did it on a compass 2007 its not easy and you gonna need pliers with long handles but i did it under 10 min. the bracket which is in the way still leave you about 1 1/2 inch, not enough for your hand but enough for the pliers. i don't know if both side are the same i did the driver side.
Thanks so much for this!! I have a 2010 and I'm pretty sure it has the same setup. Question: There are two light bulbs in that housing, correct? Is it possible to swap them to LEDs??
Glad you liked the video. On the 2007 Jeep there is only one bulb in the housing. I'm not sure about the 2010 but it's likely the same set up. Regarding the LED replacement you need to be careful about purchasing those. There are different kinds. Some need actual rewiring of the socket and the LED bulbs themselves product a lot of heat. You can buy LED replacements that are a direct fit but you will end up paying much more for them. Check eBay and Amazon!
Do you know how to replace the small sidelights next to the main headlights in a Jeep Compass? I have tried twisting, pulling, pushing but cannot seem to get them out from the engine compartment side...maybe I have to remove the whole front grill 😱
What a pain in the ass to replace a simple expendable item. The three screws and tabs that hold the plastic crap together... ...GONE. fell in the gravel. Not worth replacing. Just let it flap in the wind. An embarrassment for an "American" car to be so crappy. I don't know what the plastic "nut" and metal screw is called to even replace them. Why do they call it a COMPASS, when it doesn't even have a compass anywhere on the dashboard or in the car?
The ktber day i noticed that my blinker bulb was sitting half way out of the socket and melting the housing a bit....NOWWWW i remember why it was like that, because last time i changed it, the bulb got the best of me and won the battle so i said to hell with you bulb your staying halfway cocked out for the rest of your life lol and i agree the dumbest design ever thats not the only flaw in this model of jeepa...the suspension and brake systems are horrible!!!!!
I truly hope that the idiot who designed this lost his fingers in trying to have demonstrate his own design. I will NEVER buy another Chrysler product. I had to help a friend change his battery. Same thing. You have to remove the fender well to get at the damn thing. That shouldn't be legal.

Beautiful and charismatic! That's super cool.
Thank you for taking the time to shoot this video. Saved me a bunch of time changing mine out.
Thank you. This just saved me a huge amount of confusion & stress. Love the presentation style!

Glad the information helped Brian. Let us know how it goes when you get it finished. Thanks for watching my video!
Replacing the housing with this method is a nightmare. Just take the bolts of the upper bumber out and it's more easy.

Damn I wish I knew this before buying this jeep

The craziest situation I've ever seen, and whoever designed this should be run over by it. My husband is dealing with this right now.
Hope it all worked out for your husband. Thanks for watching my video!
Every Mans Auto He ended up at the dealer :((.. ..not enough time. But thanks a bunch !
Every Mans Auto p.s..I like your humor!
Glad you got it fixed anyway. I appreciate the feedback on the video. Was the dealer charge reasonable?

none of this is necessary. i have a 2008 compass, and you can reach your hand in front the hood, and pull out that bulb
How did you do that? I tried the same thing and couldn’t.
