The best era was pre-Dark Light. I really don't see why people hate on them. They don't write metal songs about metal or have tattoos all over themselves but it's just pure music. They show that writing songs about hurt don't have to be depressing.
It is a bit... Entwine, Charon, HIM, Type O Negative, My Deception, For My Pain, most of these had to stop due not selling / not getting paid enough, and having to find other ways of living. Except Type o Negative, he died. Also Lovex, and Negative from Finland. These were a lot of underrated bands that just had to quits, because metalheads "trve evil" are against, and call this sell out pop rock. I made My Deception .
HIM was the reason why I started singing, wryting lyrics and playing drums. I even have 6 HIM tattoos. It's sad that it will be over very soon, with them going a part of my life will be gone. But that's life, good things come and go.. And I'm glad that I got to know Ville and that he recognized me at concerts, these were the best moments in my life
Wings of a Butterfly was my introduction to H.I.M. Been a big fan ever since. His music doesn't follow the formula of most of what you hear today. His sound is as refreshing as it is melancholy.
Beautiful times, beautiful moments, beautiful memories with this band. Will forever be my all time favorite band. I give them 10 years until they announce a reunion which i'll definitely go to! Until then, i'll be spinning their vinyls for the time being.

I've seen them twice, 10 years apart, almost down to the day (10/30/07 - 10/29/17). Was lucky enough to see them play a sold out show in Denver on their Bang and Whimper tour. Words cannot express how good their set was that night. Really going to miss these guys touring.

His infernal majesty, a true Metal rock band, They just got a little soft but always were amazing, I think Ghost B.C Is what HIM could have been if they kept being consistent with their music... Just listen to HIM's heavy guitar solos they are really well elaborated.
Oh my gosh! Can you believe I was thinking of that these days? I've been a fan of HIM since childhood and, from there, it took 10 years for them to come to my country for the first time. I met Ghost this year and it feels like a transition from Ville to Papa/Cardinal. Like a new generation of metal/rock made in a romantic and dark way. The fact both Ville and Tobias are inspired by 80's icons such as Kiss adds a lot that. Great thinking! Cheers from Brazil.
I share the same opinion. I might be wrong, but I pick up on very subtle similarities in both their music. I just love the oeuvres of both bands. I will love them both until the end of time

I’ll never forget seeing them live. Ville chainsmoked the entire time, drank Jack Daniel’s and still hit EVERY note perfectly. Such a great live band.
