I am so thankful that he and/or his teachers listened to his voice! I shudder to think of how often "dark" and "low" get conflated at the expense of the full realization of such beautiful identities.

Not a Mozart voice. Clearly a heavy tenor, but perhaps singing it too lightly is what you mean? I quite like his rendition, because it's so different.
