In your Amok sleeping pad there is a piece of green rubber behind a grid just inside the inflation point that prevents the air from coming back out again. If you just pull a piece of that rubber out through the grid you can quickly deflate the mat totally flat. Then roll the mat up to expel any remaining air, tuck the rubber back inside and it is easily folded up. No problem.

  •  6 месяцев назад +1

Top tipp: When ever setting up the Amok make sure you hange it so you avoid wind from the side, ie face the wind. The combination of wind from the side and the shape of the tarp can generate a "wind tunnel" that blows accros your face. I does help to close the tarp on the windyside, but its not perfect.

Just looking at your stew made me want to rush out into the woods to make some for myself.
Tip wise I like to use the bug net even when it’s too cold for bugs. I was surprised by how much warm air it helped trap inside.

You know what love? If you arranged a hike for like 10 people, where they bring what they need, you just plan the trip. 10.000 people would stand in line to join you. I enjoy your videos so much, and would pay a bunch to join you for a hike. Thanks for sharing your adventure!

Same here mate I've had it with trekology pillows now my original one just deflates through the night I also take the aluft lux with the strap to go around your mat that just wouldn't inflate out and about this weekend looked at the bladder and there was a tear in it like something out of the howling haven't done anything extreme with it plus it's covered with the soft material cover the first one I had the valve went got a replacement then this I can't even be arsed complaining anymore so it's a new brand for me leading on to my question mate would you recommend the alpkit drift then pal atb 😀👍

When Im not in the hammock I usually use the side straps and the middle strap area to keep the sleeping bag and pillow inside the hammock until I am fully in it. And also for bits and bobs/clothing I want to have near me I just have it in a dry sack or two clipped around the straps

How do you let the stew boil for 3 hours without burning it in the bottom? Mine always reduces really fast and burns on the bottom. This weekend I hung it over the fire with a stick and let it be for 1,5 hours and it reduced so fast even with the lid on.

As for tips the tarp does have a foot end which is marked with feet
When it’s not so windy, I often ballpoints a stick about 5 foot and prop it in the eyelet of the foot end.
so you have a great view out of the hammock

A few tips for using the Amok Draumr-:
I sling bedding etc over the ridge line, or put a heavier item at the head item so it lies more horizontally. Clothing at night goes over the ridge line too. You can put shoes etc in one of the storage areas up by the ridge line. I find a long bit of paracord added to the bug net's zip makes it a bit easier to open and close the net when lying down. Also put the sleep pad into the hammock vertically (i.e. have the draumr standing up on the foot end and push the pad upwards). I normally leave the tarp pegged out at the rear of the hammock and only pull it over the top if raining (allows a fuller view). I 'larks tounge' my head torch strap around the ridge line to turn it into a lamp. Hope they help.

so I have a matt on floor at the point that the foot end would / will touch. and then I just stand in it, get in my bag etc. Like you would normally. And then grab the straps n slide up. As for the gear, yeah you just gotta balance it out a bit, found no secret to that other than having more beer and not been as fussed :-) that bed stuff sack is pretty big, at first I was like man, this matt is massive and have to unfold like 2 times to get super compact etc. but the bag is hug so I just let loads out, fold in 3, then slow roll and BOSH baby. in da bag. It's odd I know, as I do through hikes too and used to getting massive things into tiny pouches ( no pun intended), but yeah the Amok is a different beast, more chill on that side of things, less thinking about how compact you gotta get etc. I ALWAYS zip mine too. if you don't, the ants like to climb down, get snug etc. But maybe that's just the places I been with it :-). Oh one more thing, in heavy rain, You know the side pouches bit, that did all get wet, so now I Add an extra drip lines when I know it's gonna be bad mush. On food side. if you crush that garlic mate, BOSH you really get the oils flowing for more or less zero effect., Shin is a nice idea though, not thought of taking shin, taken quite a few cuts before, and used Guinness to get my leprechaun on ya know :-)
