In 1978 werkte ik met een nieuwe h16c deze machine had een volledige oliebad draaikrans ,zeer mileu vriendelijk ,geen op de grond vallend smeervet ,geluidsarm, fijne rijbediening, super.
I've never seen an Akerman Excavator in Australia, in fact I'd never heard of them before googling "history of excavators." But being a Swedish machine I'd bet my last dollar that they were up there with the best in the business. Samsung bought them for the quality no doubt, and then the product knowledge went back to a Swedish owned company, Volvo. I see more Volvo excavators here in Australia than just about any other brand. Unsurprisingly, they all seem to come from the factory in South Korea, and they are excellent machines.
Akermans were regarded by many as the 'Rolls Royce' of excavators in the UK. My old Boss had a few, virtually indestructible machines, strong and powerful. Many also say Volvo ruined them.
Yeah Volvo bought up Åkerman, then bought up Samsung. Closed the Åkerman factory in Sweden and put efforts to the Samsung plant. Samsung was also a high regarded excavator brand prior. But I think they were more competetive in the international market. Åkerman were very robust, strong and had very well made hydraulics. But I think they just werent profitable to sell internationally
