I had been looking for a video exactly like this - an actual comparison to see how purely the microphone captures the sound of the clarinet. Thank you! I couldn't hear any key click sounds on this video - but I could on one of your later videos using effects. When you're trying to just purely amplify the clarinet sound with no effects how much can you hear the key clicks while playing? Thanks again for the great videos.
Hello Nathan, thank you for watching and I did it for the same reason. I could not find a video like this before. I would say in general when you add gain through the pick up or through the effects you can hear the keys. It's so sensitive that you can even hear the breathing a bit, but with the right gain amount and combinations it does work fine! :)
wow.. im guitarist and i just learn to play clarinet for two year now.. this is good thing.. thanks for sharing dude..
Guitarrist myself too! Glad you liked!
Thank you, this helps a lot! Sounds great.
Cheers!
thanks! very informative. does it need phantom power or is there a battery?
Thank you Francois! You don't need anything, just simply plug in to the amp and play!

So I’m just getting into the piezo pickups for steel pan. With the initial cable being only 2 conductors, do you get any hum through the amp?
Barely any hum to be honest.
Cool! As a percussionist, I’ve not dealt with piezo pickups. So this is all new! Do you use any kind of preamp or direct box?
@@panplayer not really, this one works more like a guitar pickup. But i guess you could add your own preamp.
