here's the thing with olive skin...you're tan after 5 minutes under the sun in summer, and become snow white in the winter. it's so hard to find shades that are consistent through all seasons...

I also tan easily and my tip is get one that is as light as you are in winter and one that is as dark as you are in summer and then just mix them inbetween, that works rlly well for me :)

Unfortunately I have never even seen a drugstore brand that carries olive toned foundation and concealer. But the DIOR Backstage line and Rare beauty both have olive toned foundation and concealer. Rare beauty prices are actually not that bad. I mix a light yellow concealer with the olive toned concealer with these to lighten them a bit for the winter months.

Everything makes sense now. Actually, I rarely use foundation or concealer. Only on special occasions. I always thought that my undertone was neutral but whatever neutral shade I tried, it always looked too peachy on me. Warm was too yellow and cold was too pinkish. I might be olive. I need to test it out immediately. Thank you so much ❤️ Actually, I should have known because of my heritage. 🙈 Mediterranean people are often described as having olive skin. Both gold and silver jewellery doesn’t look bad on me but gold looks better. I‘m also light but tan very easily. Have spent so much money in the past buying the newest foundation, bb creams etc. After years of being colour matched to golden-based foundations (just because I’m Asian) that oxidises even more on my skin, and always ends up looking terrible. I’ve come to the conclusion that my skin tone is neutral (I have both green and blue veins, which is a strong sign) and things that work for me are anything that is a neutral beige tone. A life-saver for me has been buying a slightly yellow foundation (as I have more yellow overtones) and mixing green primer with it. I use the "L.A. Girl Pro Prep HD Color Correcting Face Primer". Another comment also recommended the "Catrice Prime and Fine Anti-Red Primer." Should help a lot! (:

Well now I finally understand why I always felt green and gray! I found mixing a bit of green color into my foundation helps make it match a bit better, perhaps that neutralizes things, but the match is better than otherwise. I always go for a neutral foundation color too, I think that's almost always our only option

This is roughly what I do now too. Neutral concealer and translucent powder. On no make-up days, I wear an SPF moisturiser with a green tint so I don’t look too blotchy. I’m not big on blush and eyeshadow colours, but soft wash natural colours and tints (like watercolours, I guess) tend to look the best on my particular skin.

Thank you for mentioning that an individual’s overtones change depending on sun exposure!
that changed my whole perspective on skin tones
For years I have wondered why in the winter I turn a greyish yellow, and I traditionally fit in the “cool colour” spectrum.
Meaning cooler colours and sliver look best on me.
But then in the summer, I get a little darker and I feel as though I change to a warmer colour spectrum.
all the sudden gold looks better and warmer colours bring me to life.
My veins are a mix of purple and green, and that has confused me a lot.
I have always been very confused about what my skin is….

The only brand I've found to specifically cater towards olive skin tones is EX1- I discovered them last year and it felt amazing to finally find a shade that actually matched my undertone. For so many years, all the concealers I wore (I don't wear foundation) were usually too pink so it looked like I had pink rashes on my skin. I think the founder put it best when she said that, you can have 100 shades, but if the undertones aren't right, they're not going to match.

*if you're olive, does that automatically mean you can tan easily? I think I may be slightly olive (but more on the pale side)* if I haven't been out in the sun for a while, I need to tan for a while to start getting darker, but once I get the base, I tan normally. I get hyperpigmentation easily, I'm oily, I've always had trouble finding the right foundation shade. I've always said I was neutral-leaning-warm since neutral is a little too beige/grey for me but warm is too yellow/orange. and when I look at my neck under the sun (but not in direct sunlight), I have a slight green-tinge to it

Thank you so much for this video. Last year when I watched this, it made me really think. It answers many of my questions. I realised after a lot of trial and error that I’m a warm olive undertone.
The fenty 290, although a neutral olive, is a good match. For me, the problem is most foundations are not yellow enough, i.e. more peachy or red when warm, or more pink when neutral. I am in between light and medium in most foundations or a medium at most. I can see the hint of green in my yellow undertone but again something used to always feel off. Now I always check Reddit before getting any foundation. Or take my foundation to the store to see if the undertones are similar.

I’m training to be a personal color consultant.
Olive 🫒 skin is apart of warm tones of course. Yellowish green is definitely very warm. It’s just that there are different kind of warm colors.
    To be exact,
    1. Yellow / Warm undertone
    (a) Very fair skin = Ivory
    (b) Medium to darker skin = Olive
    2. Pink/cool undertone
    Only lighter skin
    3. Greyish, Ashy undertone
Vary from very light to deep
“Neutral” does exist but it’s not about your skin color. It’s neutral colors (lip, blusher, eye makeup, clothes) that you have to use. Because not everyone is sensitive to warm and cool. So they can use somewhat in between colors.

    • @122timeout
      @122timeout 3 года назад

Okay this is very incorrect , olive can range for very light to dark . Olive is the hue of skin and undertone , anyone from cool or warm can be olive . Makeup artist and beauty community has such misinformation about olive skin . I can tell you go to a beauty school or have been learning from makeup artist that don’t know anything about olive skin tone or only learned what has been told to them .Yellow greenish can be both warm or cool , depends where it leans on . Yellow it self can be warm or cool like she showed on this video . If want to test it out get a bunch of mixers and you’ll see how different is each olive skin tone . This is why olive skin tone is still such a problem . The surface of your skin is different from your undertone and combining both makes different skin tones . Neutral does exist in skin tone because it’s in the middle of the spectrum . There’s people who either have balance of both tones or don’t lean towards neither because once again it’s in the middle of the spectrum . Look at some color wheels and some color charts and your body color charts too .

Thanks so much! One question: should we pick gold or sliver for olive skin tone?

Olive undertone here! Neutral still looks paler on me TT and I look sick without makeup too
always so difficult to find a right shade of foundation, would love if you post another vid about foundation 🤩🤩
