    Vacheron Constantin needs more attention honestly...every rich guy wearing patek and ap not even knowing that VC exists..amazing history, amazing quality and compared to a patek a real bargain haha :D

    • @treedillinger5801
      @treedillinger5801 6 лет назад +7

      I think that’s largely due to the fact that VC is no longer an independent company, unlike Patek, AP and Rolex. Vacheron, like many once strong brands was rescued from extinction by the conglomerate Richemont after having changed hands a couple of times.
      I’m not questioning their quality and nobody can question their history. It may not seem like a big deal that they’re not independent, but it is. To people who spend that kind of money on watches- it really, really is.

    • @Jeff-mj1nl
      @Jeff-mj1nl 6 лет назад +1

      Tree Dillinger yeah thats a good point, but imho it is very questionable to buy a watch under condition that its maker is an independent company...ALS, VC, JLC, companys i‘d choose over patek or ap at any time altough they are under richemont..

    • @treedillinger5801
      @treedillinger5801 6 лет назад +7

      Jeff1809 certainly top-tier watchmakers. No question. On one hand I complete agree with your focus on quality. On the other hand I recognize that we’re paying the big bucks for history, as much as quality. The brands you mention have incredibly important histories, it’s just that they’re not uninterrupted histories. ALS, for instance, shut down production for over 40 years and the modern company has only existed since the 90s. Again: that has no bearing on the quality of the product coming out of the factory today.
      I don’t criticize Richemont or the Swatch Group. I think what those companies did was incredibly important in keeping the Swiss Watch industry alive. They rescued many brands we love from the jaws of death. It’s not their fault those brands were broke- it was a combination of the brands’ own mismanagement and the reality of the cheaper, more reliable Japanese quartz watch.
      All of that said- I can’t help but respect the independents for bucking the trends and remaining independent, and not only surviving but thriving throughout the decades- and centuries.

    The biggest problem with Patek Philippe Nautilus range is that once you hold it or wear it, it simply does not feel like a AUS $35-60k watch. It's feels too delicate to the point of almost feeling flimsy (for lack of better words). Looking at the dial of the basic Nautilus makes you wonder where your $35k went, bracelet feels like Omega Speedmaster or equivalent. Nothing wrong with the Speedmaster, but it is problematic at Nautilus' price range. All VC Overseas models have weight and sturdiness to them and the stainless steel bracelet is hands down one of the most comfortable to wear - although I think the previous version of the bracelet was better than the new one. The blue dial of new Overseas is stunning in person, it is almost hypnotic.
    VC Overseas, or an A. Lange & Sohne is def better than current line up of Nautilus.

  • @davidyule1973
    @davidyule1973 4 года назад +1

    The Gen3 Overseas is holding value much better than prior gen watches. It is wonderful watch and has a soul that you will not find in rhe Nautilus.
    Also the buying experience at VC is nicer IMO than PP. Less pretentious. No snobbery just a simple concept that they want to sell beautiful watches to people that appreciate beautiful watches. No selling games. No BS. The way things should be. An art that is sadly dying. I am not that old in the scheme of things, but I remember a time when buying a Rolex was a nice experience.
    VC conduct business with old school honour and class and deserve to be commended for it :)

    Vacheron is just another good and well executed watch... but if you have to choose TAKE THE NAUTILUS !!!, even at 60k to get it at second hand market... it’s a way better choice. You won’t loose money. Paid mine 40k, sold it for 50k... now I regret... :(

  • @ivankerr3570
    @ivankerr3570 6 лет назад +3

    Great subject matter. The VC is vastly superior in both looks and quality to the Patek. The Nautilus is just so dated and boring looking watch. If it wasn’t of such obvious quality you could be forgiven for thinking that it was a cheap looking Chinese designed watch, it’s that bad. I have tried both on my wrist . The overseas is stunning and on the secondary market is great value especially compared to the over inflated Patek market The same can be said for Ap. Let’s face it Ap with the Royal Oak is a one watch company all be it a very successful one.

    • @MD-md4th
      @MD-md4th Год назад

      The Nautilus looks like a 1950s TV set. I have never understood the appeal! I would take an Overseas or Royal Oak over it. In general, I have never been a Patek fan. I find most of their designs too busy. Also, there is something about the look and sound of the name, and the status-obsessed image, that does not appeal to me. Maybe weird that I have a fixation on the aesthetics of the name itself, but when you are talking top-quality by all of these brands, emotions and intangibles play a part. I love VC because their current designs blend tradition and modernity in a perfect, harmonious way. I also love their heritage and that most people have never heard of them!

  • @iWatchmaker
    @iWatchmaker 6 лет назад

    To be fair the nautilus and the overseas retail for relatively the same price. There’s roughly a 5 grand difference. You practically kick your wallet in the nuts for not waiting for the nautilus. And ever since Richemont bought out Vacheron there has been a dip in quality. On top of that Patek pledges to service your watch no matter how old it is or what it needs. The nautilus is simply better and I feel the market directly reflects that.

    • @jad.y
      @jad.y 6 лет назад

      On retail, there's about a $10k difference. Where do you see them going for 5k difference? Never tried on the nautilus given their demand, but the VC is an absolute beaut
