omg this is beautiful. 411 defined so much of my teenage life, a very special thing that I'm sure these cali guys never expected would help define the life of some guy in Nowhere, UK
hey same here! I went to HS in a small town in Oregon in the 90s. we would have, like, 1 - 12 active skateboarders at any given time and nobody was sponsored within 50 miles. in the days before the Internet, 411 didn't just give me a taste of what's new in skateboarding, it also introduced me to SO much good music. first time I heard wu-tang clan was in a 411 segment or commercial featuring Reese Forbes (I think)...disable planets, Blondie, freestyle fellowship, de la soul, the pharcyde--so much good music. and the skating! I remember seeing Tom Penny switch fs flip Carlsbad in an industry section before seeing Jeremy Wray do it regular at the end of that iconic line in second hand smoke. and seeing Jeremy Wray ollie the water tower gap in another industry section...too many memories to list in a yt comment...thanks 411 :)
Im proud to say i was apart of 411 Opener issue #16 , N/B/flip up the West L.A. CourtHouse Stage aka Courthouse . Shawn Boyles , Kirk Diande filmed it , only because Donny Barley gave me opportunity , Kirk was there to film Donny , i was skating with Donny alot then he was living down the way in Santa Monica . So i had done it a couple times already , it felt so good. Never thought i would have got a Opener , being that it was my first time ever having filmed a trick in a major video then . Thanks Donny Barley
My first 411 was #29. To this day, watching it really touches my heart. Over the years I've colleted so many issues, early issues, contests, vacations, On Videos, etc. What you guys did for skateboarding is something very special. ❤❤❤
411 VM made a very significant contribution to skateboarding. The documentation and distribution of that content helped propel skateboarding to where it is today. Thanks. My very first skate video was 411 #1... that shit was way too long but shared the stoke of skateboarding.
Best of Vol. 3 is an all time favorite for me. Found the VHS in my parents room before Xmas, opened it and watched it, then repackaged it to be ‘surprised’ on Xmas day 😆
Paul Schmitt, Josh Friedberg, and Kirk Dianda changed my life back in 1999 when the whole fingerboarding craze began. The Fingers of Fury video is still a cult classic people ask me about. I just wanted to say a sincere thank you and let the world know what a cool bunch of folks ran the 411VM empire. 411VM made the skateboarding world a better place and its impacts are still felt and remembered today. High fives from Darin Langhorst up in Canada!
Living nowadays I realized that 411 was ahead of its time. They were responsible to model an entire generation. Such good memories when me and friends used to join to watch before the skate session. Thanks 411 ❤.
The amount of nostalgia hits so hard on this one. What was incredible about this era is that you couldn't go online to find this content. It was all about waiting for it to be released to get your hands on it. Along with all the skate videos anticipated from companies. Time to listen to their opening song and then off to shred.
how is there not a 411 vm now on youtube? It was the greatest thing to happen to skateboarding. In this day and age it seems so obvious to do it again. Thank you 411 and Lance! 🤘🔥🤘
We are exactly what youre looking for! Mark Appleyard is our Lance, and we have 19 issues under our belt! We have already covered everyone from Steve Cab to Andy Anderson. Issue 20 drops in April, and you can find them all on our channel!!
The nostalgia hits hard , I owed the best of 411 vol 3 and would watch the crap out of it , the music in it was 🔥 it was the 90’s definitely simpler time’s with good memories.
411 always made me super stoked for skateboarding the editing with the music was on point and i always looked foward to the adds and was introduced to new music all the time- 411 was a vibe that always got me super stoked to go skate and introduced to different culture thru skateboarding-and the music was rad to get introduced to new artist -big ups to 411 -respect
If it helps anyone, I think the panel is (L-R): Chris Ortiz, Steve Douglas, Josh Friedberg, Paul Schmitt. iDabble get panel & chair added in the Description.
So amazing I started about 411 no12 and from 15 to 24 where my fave issues when skateing was more underground. I got into so much music though 411 and miss that era so much.
Which one did you have and play over and over and over... Vol12 for me! Phil Shao giant bs 180° and Moses Itkonen crooks a marble ledge (which led to me learning them).
@@Dabblevideomag =) I haven't watched the rest, yet. only the first few minutes, but now I have time. and now after watching it all, I wish it was an hour longer ;-)
Man, I still have a lot of whs stashed in the attic, but im kind of afraid of watching them, last time the vcr just ate the tape, luckily it was a 80s movie about fly-fishing and nothing holy
Cool I was in the Visalia skate camp montage watching Peter Hewitt skate a vert ramp on 1/2 cab flip grab to fakie. My only cameo. Grew up on 411vm. It’s like all we had as far as consistent updates with new footy from all over. I still revisit classic parts off there now and then. Of course great music choices that defined a generation. 🛹🙌🏽
411 was the best video series back in the day , you dont even know how excited we were to watch the vhs tapes before hitting a skate session
these videos were iconic to me in the early 2000s as a kid in Utah just learning to skate and learning about the ins and outs of the industry.
Obsessed with 411vm then and still now
Same
Gold era of skateboarding. I used to go to my local skate shop just to watch these amazing videos... So many good memories!

My era. I'm almost 47 now
Issue 47 was fire.
i got issue #3 in 94 from an older cousin. i was 7 y/o at the time, it changed my life.
That iconic jam at the beginnings! Good stuff right here. Raised on 411 in the 90’s. Influenced so many peeps.
Thanks
🙌
i never watched 411 (only started skating in 1999), but i think now i will dig in !! thank you for this!!
Dope! Grew up watching 411 VHS tapes in the 90s with my older brothers

Din dinna ninnna ner da diddle derrr - best lyrics ever stuck in my head
Never gets old.
Watched Europe 1995 just last night and realised how lucky we were to not only have great skaters, but great personalities too.
My favorite was when frank gerwer 50-50 that quintuple kink that was a good issue
Issue no 39 with the Reese Forbes Ollie competition, changed my life
Holy Sh1t I’m old…

Thanks idabble for this video!
Yes sir 🤝 - when can we film a piece about YOU is the question.
@@Dabblevideomag Haha! You have my number.
I still have my copy of issue #1 after all these years.
The Natas issue is gold
aaawww... I was hoping the video would start with the 411 intro music : )
(for anyone wondering, its the song *THE BOXCAR* by *SOL* )
They talk all about this in the video!
@@Dabblevideomag =) I haven't watched the rest, yet. only the first few minutes, but now I have time.

How do like your 411 subscription?
I was a few months off. The Jeremy Henderson Thrasher cover is October 1989!!!
Your memory is amazing!
💙💙💙 bummed I missed this
Thats why we made the video!!
411vm was where it's at. The only place where 1 brand didn't rule all. It's crazy that Instagram is the main exposure now.
Seriiusly
where's lance
A question we all asked
wow
Did watch issue 34 uncountable amount of times
47 over here
Who owns the 411vm label these days?
Yo. G. Thanks For Tha (411) .
Real Deal?
they changed the game...
For real
Fuuuuuuuck yes.
Man, I still have a lot of whs stashed in the attic, but im kind of afraid of watching them, last time the vcr just ate the tape, luckily it was a 80s movie about fly-fishing and nothing holy
Thats the worssttt. But the feeling when it plays might just be worth it
First video I owned. Vm19
Classsic!
juicy....
30 years, time needs to slow down😅
I just want them to bring it back already. They're losing a golden opportunity.
All I wanna know is, who was responsible for all the bad pop punk?
Cool I was in the Visalia skate camp montage watching Peter Hewitt skate a vert ramp on 1/2 cab flip grab to fakie. My only cameo. Grew up on 411vm. It’s like all we had as far as consistent updates with new footy from all over. I still revisit classic parts off there now and then. Of course great music choices that defined a generation. 🛹🙌🏽
411vm 17 1996, first skate video I owned, ❤❤❤
I've been skateboarding for over 30 years and the 411VM is part of my life as a Skater4Life. Muito obrigado guys.❤🛹❤️
