In this video I install my new Mishimoto skid plate. This is one of the major flaws in design, leaving the oil cooler exposed under the car. With nothing really protecting the oil cooler some thing as small as a rock could get in there and cause major damage to you oil cooler, which could result in a major oil leak.
Shoutout to Kies Motorsport for have this part I stock and getting it out to me with in a couple days. Also check them out as there is a sale for this skid plate. Авто/Мото
Yeah, that's probably theeee best mod for that car - any scrape over a speed bump or other objects, and that's risking engine failure. I can't believe BMW approved this design without protection.
Yeah it’s crazy to think they thought it would be okay like that. I do wonder if that’s why the front of the car is so high stock
@@DavidinHD1 4:28 looks much better indeed.
The point for BMW's design is they needed more airflow for the cooling at the front (first thing I noticed when I saw one in real life) and that's where I wondered, where's the oil radiator, AC etc... I do not understand why BMW has released a car with a vital part fully exposed to damage, that's very un-German, or the bean counters have taken over the designers.
@@Manu-Official yeah man, one of the first things I looked at fixing when I got the car. The crazy part is a lot of people not know it’s an issue and those are the ones that have big leaks and damage due to not protecting the oil cooler
@@DavidinHD1 Most people are not mechanics, a lot will throw money at cars and bills.
@Manu-Official that’s a fact!! And repairing these cars are gonna cost you a n arm and a leg
Just put mine on
Best first mid for protection
Can you still add a front splitter that uses those front bolts that mishimoto provided? I believe the OEM were 10mm
Yes you can, I added OEM style performance carbon front spoiler after I installed this. Everything bolts up fine.
@@DavidinHD1thank you so much for the reply, much appreciated!!
@ronin120 no problem boss, if you have any more questions let me know.
