Nice video! I like seeing people’s setups and plans that work for them as everyone is different and we can learn from each other. I currently have the Skymiles Platinum as my daily driver. I love it for it’s increased multipliers for everyday categories like dining and groceries. I am considering the getting a Delta Reserve instead of the AMEX Platinum, but my use case would be very different from yours. I don’t fly much but I always fly Delta, which is easy as I live near a Delta Hub. I don’t care about status but I would like the increased insurances over my Skymiles Platinum as well as Seat upgrades. However my main reason for getting it would be the companion certificate and lounge access. The companion certificate would be the “money maker” to offset the annual fee and I can go to Skyclubs, Centurion Lounges, and Escape lounges on days that I travel. For me planing one comfort plus trip with my wife a year to earn the fee back is a lot easier than managing all of the AMEX Platinum credits each month/ 6 months/ year/ 5 years. With you having both cards which would you recommend to someone who mostly travels domestically and almost exclusively with Delta when flying?
I appreciate the feedback on the video John. You wouldn't go wrong with either card, of course the Amex Platinum comes with more travel benefits but I have had the Delta reserve card since November and I have taken 3 flights so far and all of my flights have been upgraded to first class which automatically give you sky priority and I only bought a main cabin ticket. I'm definitely looking forward to the companion certificate as well so if that type of stuff is important to you I would say get the Delta Reserve. But if you like having 200 in airline credits and complimentary gold status with Marriott and Hilton and a lot of other travel benefits I would say get the Amex Platinum because it's more versatile.
@@jmbwashi No the closest hub to me is Atlanta which I heard gets a little harder because there are more medallion status members flying out of there so you would be lower on the upgrade list. The flights I took were from CLT to JFK.
Thanks for the video! I currently have the delta gold, and I’m wondering if I should get the platinum first to maximize welcome bonus offers, or if I should just jump over to the reserve.
Two months ago I went from the Skymiles gold to the Skymiles Platinum. I am very happy I made this jump. I liked the 90k Skymiles offer, I use Uber once a month so therefore I get the $10 statement credit, I buy a gift card once a month from a Resy restaurant so therefore get the $10 credit, I applied for Global Entry and paid and received the $120 statement credit prior to Customs interview, and then will get the companion pass at the anniversary date. Overall, if you use these items it’s a good card, even with the somewhat high annual fee.
💡Question of the day. What are your thoughts on the American Express Delta Reserve Card?

@@DavidGamble1 3 out of 3 upgrades! 👍
Do you fly out of a delta hub?
Thanks for your suggestions.

Is the delta reserve card a credit card or a charge card?
It's a credit card.
