I prefer that he might have done it with his bare hands, Saxton Hale style while doing the same with every Sneasler, Overqwil and Kleavor in existence.
Professor Laventon is my guy. The man finds you the player, a random person who just washed up on the beach and doesn’t know anyone, and he gives you a place to stay, gives you a job and stands up for you in front of the whole town. Later when the town turns its back on you he’s once again in your corner. He gives you shelter when you’re on missions, actually goes out into the wild with you and works with you to build the Pokédex. Plus the man made the FIRST ever Pokédex and his personal insights and comments in it are awesome.

At the end of the day, it's just a brand name, after all. Obviously you can't check the papers for the exams you've already had, but if you had any mock exams for those subjects, they should have used the same exam board's papers. If you kept the papers, you could check them. And of course, you can always ask the teachers. Never heard of OCR myself (my school only had AQA and Edexcel), but hopefully if you do have them, they're not as bad as the other person thinks. Kind of curious to know what's so bad about them now.

I value Birch a bit more highly because he's the first we saw actually in the field doing something. And he DID have pokemon with him, you grabbed your starter out of his bag. He just tripped and dropped it and the dog was after him before he could grab it. He wasn't' dumb enough to go unarmed, he just got startled at the wrong moment. Plus having that "friend's clumsy dad" thing elevates him for me, actually having a bit of character. Though I'd only raise him by putting Sycamore below him, I just don't care for the man or trust his research skills. Feels to me like last decade's rival character was forced to get a job. Still jumping children and trying to fight the evil team.
Professor Oak is a classic and deserves #1 from just being iconic, but ngl, Kukui is probably my favorite. He’s just the homie throughout your entire journey and is an absolute unit

He's got so much personality, literally throws down with pokemon, and is a happily married man. Funny thing about not finding Oak randomly during your journey, in the Electric Tale Of Pikachu manga Ash meets Professor Oak on Mt Moon, who is dressed as a Clefairtly. Ash also got his Pikachu by finding it in his house nibbling on cable wire.
He ain't officially titled as a Professor, but i think Director Clavell makes a pretty good case for himself. Man officially greets you when you first start the game, and he hands you your starter. Lorewise; he was part of the research team investigating Area Zero with Sada and Turo, and being the Director of Naranja/Uva Academy is pretty baller. It shows that's he's got the credentials needed for such an important job. Of course there's everything he did during Starfall, and even being chill during Iono's gym and in letting you off when you went to Area Zero. Of course when you do fight him, he's got the starter that you and Nemona didn't pick that he raised and a decent team with it. All in all, not bad for Director Clavell.
Kukui should've won alone on the fact that he actually finished raising Ash, turns out our boy only needed a father figure and he went from jobber to Regional Champion to the best trainer IN THE WORLD. And, have you looked at the S-tier waifu he landed? The man lost no time, married her and had a child so fast that Ash leaving wouldn't cause them empty nest syndrome.
You actually learn a lot of things about❤ Sonia's gym challenge during the story. Like how she participated in the same gym challenge with Leon, the fact that she befriended Nessa during that gym challenge and that (if you read Opal's notes about Leon and Sonia) you realize that she very likely gave up her gym challenge after losing at Opal's gym. It's also very likely that she decided to participate as an electric type user considering that Yamper is her only (known) pokemon. Which kinda explains as well Nessa's connection to her and Milo. And when it comes to her character I really like how Sonia's arc was about her not having an objective and doing things out of obligation rather than passion. Since it was her grandmother the one that commanded her to investigate the darkest day in the first place after she noticed that Sonia was using "being her assistant" as a way to excuse the fact that she wasn't moving forward with her life like Leon, her friend Nessa (and Raihan) and even compared to the player and Hop that by comparison had meaningful objectives and rivalries. That's why Leon hesitate a bit and had barely nothing to say about her when he introduced Sonia to the player. And it's also why Sonia could only mention things from the past, during their gym challenge to present herself to the player. That's also the reason why her grandmother told her: "Those two young trainers are setting out on a journey but what are you doing with your life?". But she grew to really care about the task that she was doing and took a genuine interest in the legends of galar and in the idea of looking for the truth until the end. And when it comes to her achievements as a pokemon professor I think she should be higher because not only she gained the respect and approval of her grandma and became one of the youngest pokemon professor to date but she also actively helped to discover the secrets of the legends of her own region, the existence of two legendary pokemon that were unknown until that moment and put her findings in a book that even got published and super popular. To the point where you can even find it in Naranja/Uva academy. Which is easily the biggest and most renowned school of any pokemon game. And then she got even more development in the post-game when she got betrayed by her own assistant but didn't let that mistake discourage her and kept helping you, the player, and Hop to stop the plans of Swordward and Shieldbert. And after finishing her book she even keeps moving forward towards new goals by doing research in the crown tundra about the Cobalion, Virizion and Terrakion. You can tell that she really grew as a person and keeps moving forward even after her huge achievements. She even took Hop as her apprentice and also forgave her old assistant.
Funny enough, in the manga Silver DID basically steal Totodile from Elm suction cup on the ceiling style. Also, wtf Oak is only 50?!!! I thought he was in his late 60s or something all my life! My dad is as old as Oak!

Professor Sammy Oak's deathbed wish was fucking hilarious. I could just imagine him doing a dramatic hand on forehead moment at "It's too late for me, boys!" That Barboach joke at the end didn't quite hit though. Still, Oak at the Opera more than made up for it.
My favorite it Juniper. Her study seems to be by far the most interesting and important. I love her design, and she felt so new (which fits Unova) as the first female professor.
Turo and Sada being the only ones who canonically died in the name of their research has to put them near the top of the list. The Marie Curie of the Pokémon world, discovered time travel and all the negative effects that go with it.
Considering their paranoia and isolation they had to have been in terrible health by that point too. Lorewise; he was part of the research team investigating Area Zero with Sada and Turo, and being the Director of Naranja/Uva Academy is pretty baller. It shows that's he's got the credentials needed for such an important job. Of course there's everything he did during Starfall, and even being chill during Iono's gym and in letting you off when you went to Area Zero. Of course when you do fight him, he's got the starter that you and Nemona didn't pick that he raised and a decent team with it.
All in all, not bad for Director Clavell.

Kukui should've won alone on the fact that he actually finished raising Ash, turns out our boy only needed a father figure and he went from jobber to Regional Champion to the best trainer IN THE WORLD. And, have you looked at the S-tier waifu he landed? The man lost no time, married her and had a child so fast that Ash leaving wouldn't cause them empty nest syndrome.

You actually learn a lot of things about❤ Sonia's gym challenge during the story. Like how she participated in the same gym challenge with Leon, the fact that she befriended Nessa during that gym challenge and that (if you read Opal's notes about Leon and Sonia) you realize that she very likely gave up her gym challenge after losing at Opal's gym. It's also very likely that she decided to participate as an electric type user considering that Yamper is her only (known) pokemon. Which kinda explains as well Nessa's connection to her and Milo.
And when it comes to her character I really like how Sonia's arc was about her not having an objective and doing things out of obligation rather than passion. Since it was her grandmother the one that commanded her to investigate the darkest day in the first place after she noticed that Sonia was using "being her assistant" as a way to excuse the fact that she wasn't moving forward with her life like Leon, her friend Nessa (and Raihan) and even compared to the player and Hop that by comparison had meaningful objectives and rivalries.
That's why Leon hesitate a bit and had barely nothing to say about her when he introduced Sonia to the player. And it's also why Sonia could only mention things from the past, during their gym challenge to present herself to the player.
That's also the reason why her grandmother told her: "Those two young trainers are setting out on a journey but what are you doing with your life?".
But she grew to really care about the task that she was doing and took a genuine interest in the legends of galar and in the idea of looking for the truth until the end.
And when it comes to her achievements as a pokemon professor I think she should be higher because not only she gained the respect and approval of her grandma and became one of the youngest pokemon professor to date but she also actively helped to discover the secrets of the legends of her own region, the existence of two legendary pokemon that were unknown until that moment and put her findings in a book that even got published and super popular. To the point where you can even find it in Naranja/Uva academy. Which is easily the biggest and most renowned school of any pokemon game.
And then she got even more development in the post-game when she got betrayed by her own assistant but didn't let that mistake discourage her and kept helping you, the player, and Hop to stop the plans of Swordward and Shieldbert.
And after finishing her book she even keeps moving forward towards new goals by doing research in the crown tundra about the Cobalion, Virizion and Terrakion. You can tell that she really grew as a person and keeps moving forward even after her huge achievements. She even took Hop as her apprentice and also forgave her old assistant.

Turo and Sada being the only ones who canonically died in the name of their research has to put them near the top of the list. The Marie Curie of the Pokémon world, discovered time travel and all the negative effects that go with it.
Considering their paranoia and isolation they had to have been in terrible health by that point too. We know they didn't listen to a goddamn thing their AIs ever said, considering the AIs tried to warn them about their plan meaning the end of Paldea, so I'm gonna hazard they probably didn't have long to live anyway. But then it's a coin toss at that point. Pierre Curie died from being hit by a carriage but we all know he wasn't gonna live a full life anyway.
