There were some changes that were generally implemented to arty within the last patch, resulting the Hotchkiss to be as deadly as we can see it now.. the developers have acknowledged the problem, so it's going to be weaker next patch.
@@ora096 Well,its really good and very cost efficient. I like how it is now,they could increase the barage cost or the cooldown time(or both). TH is really good doctirine but for one thing,killing tanks. If you are behind,is one of the worst doctrines,because you cannot push well(ambushed TDs,emplacements, Arty). The Hotchkiss can make the enemy move or punish camping. I dont know,i havent used rocket arty since the patch,so i cannot judge. Keep in mind that your micro was really good that game and your enemies were consertrating many units in an area(most of the times you didnt kill what you were aiming for,but something else)
Ya, i would say the barrage price is fine as well as the cool-down time.. what can be done however, is for the rocket upgrade to be later available (currently it's available a bit too early) in addition to lowering the speed of the Hotchkiss, the speed of this vehicle was also dramatically improved since the last patch.. but the developers figured out it was a mistake.. so the speed is going to be reduced again, not as slow as before, but surely no longer as fast as now. Also, I think most arty units in the game will receive some longer reload time (for example 105mm arty reloads in just 7 seconds now while tanks like Tiger1 and Pershing reload in about 8 seconds) so, the rate of fire for the Hotchkiss and the Priest won't be too high anymore.
@@ora096 The difference with the Hotchkiss and the other arty units is, that the Hotchkiss is also a tank, a light one,but still combat capable. The buff was good if the Hotchkiss was just a combat vehicle. I believe it should be nerfed when you equip the rockets. Its a hybrid unit,jack of all trades and master at none(well master on arty atm :P) But if they revert the changes that happened in the recent patch, i think that we are not going to see it that often anymore(which is fine by me because i hate arty units :P). It wont be a good value for money and only good in specific maps/enemies.
Well, some numbers could help here... First of all, from a realistic point of view, the Hotchkiss was a light tank of course but it was still very slow because the engine was terrible, so the Hotchkiss had only a speed of 36km/h but in the game (before the last update) the tank only had a max speed value of 2.8 (which represents 28km/h) regardless of the rocket upgrade, the speed was always the same. So the developers for some reason decided on the last patch to increase the speed to 5.5 (which represents 55km/h) and 4.5 when rockets are upgraded. While of course this speed value is totally invalid from a realistic point of view, and also turned out to be a problem from a balance perspective as we can see now. So, on the next patch the speed will be finally as it was in reality.. the speed will be 3.6 without rockets and 2.8 with rockets on the upcoming update.

Wow! I have seen Hotchkisses do damage, but never that much. You manage to keep it alive too! In this game (imo) you should have been scorched earth.
