A tip to make you life easier. You only need to run the silicone bead around the perimeter. it makes absolutely no difference if there is a slight leak from one passage to the adjacent one. The design of the plate could be improved by machining a groove around the perimeter for an o-ring gasket.

Hi Matt, been a fan of yours ever since you lit up that extension cord with Jack. I'm really impressed by your web site, very well done. My only recommendation is flat fee shipping on the smaller items, like $5 flat fee shipping if you buy 1 shirt or 20. Not knowing shipping cost up front is usually a deal breaker for me.

Have now started following the DIY EV moment, and i am in love with what you all are doing. However 2 suggestions, Use a flat block or piece of wood block when sanding down the bottom. Also you should ether have the Alloy block tapped for the 4 bolts and install them on the Curtis side, or counter sink them at least on the Alloy plate.

I was thinking the very same, but...
Flat block: yes, it's good practice and I would but does it really matter here?
Thread the block: yes, seems tidier but I have seen a lot of steel bolts bind into the aluminium treads, after short exposure to moisture, nasty or impossible to remove, even if anti-seize grease was used. Better the straight through bolts into nuts, cut off quick if it seizes.
Countersink: yes indeed, nice and tidy.

A design improvement tip for you chill plate: Since you applied silicone everywhere, your chill plate does not actually contact the controller heat sink directly. Silicon is also a poor thermal conductor. Therefore you will not have direct heat transfer from the controller to the chill plate, only from the controller directly to the water. Therefore there is no justification for making the aluminum sections as wide as the water sections, as you have no heat transfer from the chill plate to the water. The design would transfer more heat if there were no water passages, as the surface area for the water to contact the controller would be greater.

Great video… am sure but for the wide array-audience this is a 👎🏼 for me
