When I saw the first time the trailer I screamed😂😂😂 I really enjoy their story and can't wait to watch the whole thing.
It seems like you're forgetting that Alex and Henry were forced to pretend like they're best buddies to the world.
Good point! We're getting a lot of scenes of them pretending which might be why I'm not feeling the connect right away.
I agree with your comment that they are a good bit older than in the novel. If I recall correctly, in the book Alex is 21 and Henry is 23. I also pictured Ellen to look a lot more like Connie Britton than Uma Thurman.
And I expected June to... exist.
@@georgeweatherford1027 This is my biggest disappointment so far. Alex and Henry's relationships with their respective sisters is a big part of the novel. Just cutting June out altogether seems like a big mistake. I'm wondering if they tried to streamline things so they could cram the story into 90 minutes. I'd rather them leave Nora out than June.

Idk I think some changes can be a good thing. I for one am glad they look a bit older in the movie. I'm tired of the teen/fresh out of school romances.
In the book Alex is basically a straight frat guy. They are both mid 20s guys playing guys in their early 20s. Both are college graduates 🎓 in the book. This isn’t heartstopper
Hey Keith! Alex was very straight frat guy in the book so it makes sense. I think the Alex actor is in his early 30s and the Henry actor is in his late 20s. Such is Hollywood though.

They are late 20s/Early 30s actors playing characters who were in their early 20s. Alex was not THAT much of a frat bro in the book (I agree he seems too much so here). He could be nerdy and whip smart in his humor, which may be in the movie but is not in the trailer. I am completely unconvinced at this point. Hope I am wrong.

@@keithss67 I wasn't worried about real life accuracy. I am concerned that things I loved about the book already seem to be missing from the movie. And no, I am not clutching my pearls about it

very true. I also think Alex is bisexual in the book.
Honestly I am here for Uma Thurman! She is my favorite actress and I think she has the gravitas to play the first female President of the United States. And as far as her Texas dialect is concerned, I have known MANY people from Texas and spent time there and they do in fact sound like that. Plus fun fact, Uma played Nicholas Galitzine's Mom in the Netflix horror series 'Chambers". It was one of those great shows Netflix cancelled after only one season back in 2019.

Not having read the book I have no expectation of the film other than the trailer looks good and I think I'll enjoy it. Once I've seen the film I'll get the book and read it to get the whole story including the side characters/plot lines that were cut to fit the film runtime - and probably then start complaining that they should have made a tv mini-series out of it to have a longer runtime to fit more characters/storylines from the book.
I haven't read the book, which might be to my advantage as I had NO expectations or preconceived notions about what the characters should look like, and I LOVED the trailer. I thought that both Alex and Henry were ADORABLE, I laughed at so many points, and it got me so excited and hyped for the movie and reading the book. I loved seeing them try to pretend to be "best bros", I loved their chemistry in the more romantic and steamy moments we got to see, and I adored their not-so-friendly banter in the beginning of their enemies-to-lovers story. All in all, they completely sold me on the movie, and ensured that I will be reading the book as well, so... job well done!

i agree with you. everyone is freaking out over their chemistry and the trailer and i am sitting here thinking "something seems stiff about their delivery... especially Alex." i see them as friends not lovers. i am not sold yet. hopefully the full movie will change my mind! :)

Actor for Henry is spot on. Alex's actor is pretty but his acting isn't convincing enough and I agree with you he gives bro-vibes. I hope I'm wrong when the movie comes out though.
