The film is as beautiful as the music and captures the moments of life that may be just the blink of an eye but these same moments are the ones that life and living are all about. Well done Myles and Ye Vagabonds.

Thank you for the kind words Roughan! It's getting increasingly difficult to continue making these kind of films. I'm hoping people will subscribe to my Patreon to see the full film and sponsor me making many more. www.patreon.com/mylesoreilly

I love how you are able to catch that whole feeling that goes along with the performance of Ye Vagabonds. Makes the whole composition feel entirely grounded and authentic. Love it!

Beautifully done! A lover of islands and close harmony, I look forward to watching the full documentary! Is the island at the very beginning, the small clump of cliffs off the coast of Freagh?

gee, I was stunned and upset about singing child pornography. i went on a search and found this in the urban dictionary. the meaning of wee girl. Normally used in Northern Ireland to call a girl if you don't know their name. Not necessarily meaning small girl. the term girl to me is a child. woman or lady is the grown-up name. this song can be taken either way.

vicky w-o sullivan Hi Vicky, I’ll try to clear up the misunderstanding here because the implication is very serious. The term ‘girl’ does not imply that the woman in question is a child. The fact that she is getting married in a church is reason enough to suppose that she is a young woman. The terms girl and boy are, in common usage, used loosely to indicate youth but do not imply infancy. Urban dictionary is not a reliable source if it leads you to believe otherwise. I am thirty years of age and will still be referred to as a boy or lad in many situations and would refer to my adult female siblings as girls and none of these instances of the terms are necessarily incorrect or insulting in the contexts of their common usages in Ireland. This song is quite ancient and has been perpetuated by generations of singers and listeners who would never have enjoyed it if it could have been descriptive of child sexual abuse. Those songs in the tradition that do describe awful scenes of taboo subjects are usually condemnatory. Rest assured that this is not an example of child sexual abuse content and would not be widely interpreted as such within the cultural context from which it has emerged. I hope this clarifies the issue and helps to set your mind at ease.

Wee lad or wee girl is used to describe people of many ages in many parts of Ireland especially the Northern countries. You might say about a small man of 20 to 90 ....."He's a wee lad." As the other reply says it's obvious it's not a child if you listen to the words. She is getting married.

Diarmuid Glynn, very well explained, I must say I found it hard to believe there are people out there who wouldn't know the word " wee" is commonly used in parts of Ireland, all of Scotland and parts of the North East of England when referring to either man / boy/ woman/ girl and child as a term of endearment

There is only one meaning of wee girl in this song, and no, it can't be taken either way.
