    Im junior ME student rn and i love physics a lot. Iam really looking for a way to combine both cz i like the theory part as well. Im on the fence btwn minoring in phy or not since employees don’t care about minors and its gonna require me to take 4 upper lvl phy classes, which needs time n effort. Also idk if i decide to go for grad school in physics im gonna lose my engineering career since those r two different fields. Also from what i know, its better to go for B.S in physics then M.S in engineering more than the opposite (which i might do) im really overthink about what i wanna do in my life, i like the motion n dynamics n gravity n orbital mechanics, and physics as well.I love understanding the theory of physical phenomena a lot n how it forms our life/universe and im inspired by, Newton and other scientists more than the engineers, but since i know that many physics students end up in eng jobs at least im not on the wrong way. But need ur help!

I really thought I was the engineering type, but after talking to more people and through my own research I have found that this career path is not for me!

    Hello👋
    Thanks for the great videos💐
    I'd like to suggest a video idea

    (agricultural and biological engineering)
    It is my major at university and I'm eager to know more about this branch of engineering, its career paths, and many more

    • @JakeVoorhees
      @JakeVoorhees  3 года назад +1

      I get a few questions about these, it’s so so so niche. I’ll add it to the long term list okay. What within ag or biological engineering makes you interested in it? Thanks !!

      @@JakeVoorhees
      Within the discipline of agri. & Bio. Engineering I'm interested in "Power and Machinery" which is one of its subfields,
      I'm fascinated by how the rules and laws of mechanical and electrical engineering are used in the field of agriculture by designing tractors combine harvestors, driverless tractors, robots and robotic arms for harvesting and drones
      and how this field of agriculture florishes enormously with every new addition in engineering and technology.
      Some people might say that if one is interested in such machinery and robotics one should just major in mechanical or electrical engineering;
      But the truth is if you want to manufacture and design the most optimal machines and robots for the field of agriculture you should study for example the nature of the soils your macines will run on and how these machines and robots are going to affect the soils (its fertility and porosity), the plants and the animals they will deal with.
      And as for the civil engineering role in the discipline,
      If you want to build agricultural structures such as barns, greenhouses and silos you should study how it will affect the animals or the plants or the seeds and crops you will store in them, and the design of irrigation systems.
      The precission farming is a leading technology in agriculture.."agricultural engineering"
      The reason behind studying the animals and plants biology "biological engineering"
      is simply to design the best structures and machineries by knowing the environment they are going to be used in.
      The role of electrical engineering in this branch is of high importance that is how u r gonna power the farms and fields you design as efficient as possible.
      So I'm interested in the branch of power and machinery within this discipline and also amazed by how the other branches of engineering such as civil, mechanical, electrical, biological and chemical engineering are used in its various subfields.

      I'm sorry for the long reply but I desperately want people to know the importance of this branch of engineering

      How diverse and broad it is.
      Me and the students in this major want to know more and more about it and the challenges we are going to face after graduation
      Also the career paths
      And the most notable companies hiring agri. & bio. Engineers.
      Thanks in advance💐💐

    • @JakeVoorhees

      Great response :) what I would do is make sure you can find a program for Ag that supports these tech electives. And you should find some students who go to your university or email professors at the university you have selected and ask more about this. Make sure this is a good plan. Because even though you have have these theories, it really doesn’t matter about those perspectives of future gatekeepers see your ag engineering degree and do not share those same perspectives.
      So make sure. Pick a possible ag engineering and biological engineering program and find people there to answer for you :)

    Hello! I am planning on doing a mechanical engineering undergraduate, then specialize on mechatronics/robotics in my masters degree. Is this a good plan, and what do u advise me to do? And what colleges do you recommend in the states?

    • @JakeVoorhees
      @JakeVoorhees  3 года назад +2

      Yupppp, that's a very popular avenue nowadays. Thanks for the comment.
      I think mechatronics is the future. It is the intersection of mechanical and electrical engineering, so you can lean into either the physical design side i.e. mechanics, or the electrical engineering aspects which would include the circuitry, signals and controls, power, automation, and programming aspects. I think a mechatronics engineer who leans into the electrical engineering side of things is VERY well suited for the future. Here are some videos that you may be interested in:
      “What Do Mechatronics Engineers Do?” ruclips.net/video/4YjLZcQRLds/видео.html
      I think its also a good idea to start thinking about which subset of mechatronics you want to work in, because in grad school you will have the opportunity to become a specialist in something. Take as much programming as you can within your ME journey, as this will add more options to your situation later. Most of the cooler things you can do within mechatronics sit on the EE side of things. The programming, signals and controls, radio, the automation, camera vision, etc. There are equally as many cool avenues on the mechanics side too, especially which industries you could design components for. You have drones, driverless vehicles, typical robotics, manufacturing, medical devices, aviation, etc.
      Does this help and make sense? Let me know what follow up questions you have okay? I respond to everything, thanks again!!

      so what is a machine engineer? If I google that, because i have never ever heard of it, ever after doing "100 Engineering Types" video, so I must assume you mean mechanical engineer. 1. Google it, its pretty high relative to other professions. But numbers dont mean anything unless you understand the cost of living in the city you are targeting 2) yes of course 3) Nashville, DC, Chicago, Boston, Dallas, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas are all trending nicely for the next 5 yeras 4) as an international, GPA probably matters more because its so competitive

    • @zik9938

      TL;DR Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics.
      Stark Industries is basically an aerospace & defense company. To be Tony Stark the CEO, get a Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a Physics degree, then an MBA or you could just focus on Business completely and do that as your undergrad, get an MBA and/or other advanced business degrees.
      To build the Iron Man Suit, pick any of the big three engineering degrees for your undergrad and find other engineers with different areas of expertise, to team up with, who also want to build an Iron Man Suit because it's almost impossible to build one on your own.
