I'm with you I prefer and love Makati as it's a city that still has that local vibe and raw feels . One minute you're in the Makati Central Business District but if you travel to the post office you'll suddenly find yourself in a local neighborhood. That is what keeps Makati grounded to its roots. It has its skyscrapers and well maintained parks and all but take a walk a few blocks down the road and you'll see the locals in the streets celebrating whatever occasion is on. Never hesitate to move out of your comfort zone. Always have that zest for adventure as there's a world out there that needs exploring and never stop having that sense of awe and wonder. TC and keep safe.

You should go back to BGC on Halloween. We were there last year and its is nice to see kids and adult walking in their Halloween costumes. BGC indeed celebrates Halloween. You should go there at dawn that's the time people are out. And it's a long weekend because oct 31 was declared special holiday. Nov 1 is our national holiday all saints day where Filipinos go to cemeteries to visit their departed one. Most people started to go to the province on friday afternoon. It's a 4 day holiday indeed.

True, besides that BGC is very expensive and so you feel like your money is wasted somehow when you can buy what you needed in a cheaper store. Nice place to go eat or window shop once in a while. Oh I see you both are artists, good to know... yes, there is so much lacking in the Philippines, specially when it comes to appreciation of small talents like artists who still are beginning their craft and if you can show Filipinos how to catalogue or put those little stickers together to make a beautiful portrait or picture and use it as your decoration in your house or outside your house then they will see the beauty of your work. I tell you there are so many opportunities in the Philippines which Filipinos still are unaware of, good luck and God bless. The primary things that are concerning in the Philippines is the heat, bugs, and crowd specially in Manila.

I have been living in Makati for the past 15 years and this is one of the big differences between Makati and BGC: on weekends and holidays, you can have Makati all to yourself because most of the people who live in condominiums stay in Makati for work and they go back home on weekends and holidays while BGC is busier on weekends and holidays as people from other cities flock to BGC to unwind. Don’t be fooled by the shine of BGC but the old and filthy rich actually live in Makati -- Forbes Park and Urdaneta Village. 😉Makati and BGC have the same developer, Ayala. BGC is newer and better planned as a modern city but my heart belongs to Makati because it's more "real", difficult to explain in words because it's something that can only be felt. I like BGC but I love Makati.

It's the neighborhood feel of the CBD. The CBD is only 5% residential, 95% business/commercial. BGC is 70% residential, 30% business/commercial. When you walk around the streets of CBD, you will feel like walking inside a subdivision with narrower streets and not a touristy complex that is BGC. With a smaller number of residents, there is that sense of community in your CBD village.
Having said all of the, BGC is newer, is more convenient to shop like you said, has electrical posts on each street corner because wires are all underground. It is great for mingling with people from everywhere and it is feels very happy like you are in a Disney park.
So both have their own appeals.

"Elevator game:" that's hilarious :D we do the same whenever work brings us to the Makati or BGC offices and meetings happen to end during close of business (5PM) or taller buildings with lots of foot traffic. The mountain view is east of the Metro, part of the Rizal provinces (Taglog-speaking). Up there is Antipolo City with its own quaint sights; adjacent town of Angono has a cave with petrolglyphs you can visit as well.
The BGC, as you may already know, is a planned development on military (government) property that sits at the fringes of the really posh and gated subdivisions on the Makati side, so previous to what it is now, it was mostly just rolling hills of grass and some military facilities and housing. Makati, meanwhile, is a really _really_ old Filipino enclave that existed pre-Hispanic times (BGC area would then be just hills yonder before what is now the Rizal province mountain ranges in the background. So Makati has undeniably more history, the vibes of which permeates and what makes you feel more home-y :D / "lakimata" is a combination of "laki" (big/large/huge) and "mata (eye), just as tapsilog is the combination of "TAPa" (Spanish, of course), SInigang (garlic fried rice) and itLOG (egg) < Yes, you already know that :D Cheers.

The very rich in the Philippines live in Dasmariñas Village and Forbes Park. They are the premier subdivision/village in the Philippines, and they are both in Makati. Before, Forbes Park was called the millionaires' row. But I think, now, the value of property in Dasmariñas Village (Dasma for short) is higher than that in Forbes Park.

@@wistlfamilyadventures some of embassies are inside the Forbes Park village. The ambassadors or consuls, esp if they are oldie, prefer to live and hold office in the Forbes mansions than be in condos and office in skyscrapers.

SM Aura is more on the higher end. Market Market on other hand is always jam packed with people coz it's more of a 'masses' kind of mall where food and other items are lot more affordable compared to higher end malls. My workplace years ago was so near SM Aura but me and my coworkers eat and shop often in Market Market but sometimes in Aura if we have extra money.😆

Next time maybe visit on a weekday, significantly less people and not as busy. Maybe someday you could visit Enchanted Kingdom it’s like the Philippines version of a theme park. Unfortunately it’s a little far it’s in Sta.Rosa Laguna. Maybe overnight in Laguna? You can stay in Seda Hotel in Nuvali or Microtel. Sure you and the kids will enjoy.😊

Basically, you just explored the middle part of the entire BGC, better next time if you explore the place in the early morning like 5am to 8am or 4pm to late night, it is one of the few smart, walkable, and pedestrian-friendly cities. Explore more, like the Uptown BGC area, the Forbes Town area, and the University area up to the American Memorial. Yes, it is a fancy place, and I believe you can afford it since your currency UK pound can go a long way. hehe, Cheers! By the way, try to check the other British Vlogger who is living the life in BGC, "Mergim Vlog" almost every day he has a vlog discovery around BGC. :) Thanks

A tip when dealing with the hot humid weather is to wear clothes with quick dry sports fabric. Don't wear cotton because once it gets wet with sweat, it's not going to breathe.

Lovely to see you Wistl fam 😘 I do agree with Kev and prefer Makati however I always wanna go2 BGC when I’m at Greenbelt. Coming from Cavite I take the nice comfy aircon P2P bus where the buses station is just across Greenbelt. There is a bus that will take you to BGC. I’ve been wanting to try the bread pudding from M bakery. It’s supposed to be really yummy. Keep the videos coming ❤ Take care all 😘
