According to Helluva Boss Tv Tropes page, the reason why Loona can't read the grimoire in the emergency lights is because dogs have dichromatic vision, aka color blindness. The emergency lights are red and the grimoire is written in red (possibly blood?), so it all looks the same to her.

Not like it would of been all that much easier for the imps either though. The ways the lights were flashing, their eyes wouldn't have time to adjust.
Especially when it's a spell to travel between realms. I imagine you do NOT want to mess that magic up.
(also I'm surprised Stolas didn't mention how dangerous it was to bring the Grimoire right into the heart of the demon Hunter's base. If they'd been caught, and he wasn't there to save them, they could of opened a portal to hell (eventually)

13:59 Blitzø is a self fulfilling prophecy. He knows others will leave him eventually so he treats them like they already have or are about to leave him. Which makes them abandon him. That then reaffirms his mind that he was right thinking they will leave him. It’s an endless circle of self inflicted damage that is hard to break out of. I am guilty of it myself as well. 😅

Can we take a moment to discuss how terrifying Stolas' entrance is? He possesses Number Two, raises the dead agents, and has them draw his summoning circle around her in their own blood, all WITHOUT the Grimoire. And he's so powerful that afterwards, he opens the portal home without it and with zero effort.

Even after seeing it already, that scene gives me goosebumps. Especially how his true form isn't just some giant bird, it's PURE DARKNESS in the shape of a bird.
The Sinners/Overlords mutate into more scary versions of their normal self, and the Sins like Asmodeus get big and impressive but still mostly look like themselves.
STOLAS, turns into something not even remotely human shaped. Like if we didn't know he's just an absolute sweetie, you'd think he was some unknowable entity that just pretends to look like a bird man.

One thing you need to remember when it comes to Blitzø is that nothing is ever as it seems at first. He’s my favorite character ever.

Blitzø's dream sequence revealed a lot about him. That in every meaningful relationship he ever had, he ended up pushing them away to the point they hated him. And he's not only afraid of pushing Stolas away too, but also worried that Stolas doesn't actually love him. That's why Blitzø treats Moxxie the way he does, so he won't get hurt if he pushes Moxxie away too.

@@bryanmoberg8408 It’s more likely that this is just because Sinners are that powerful. Adam was basically Lucifer’s stepbrother since both of them were created by the high angels, with Adam also being super powerful in the afterlife; The high angels just made Adam with dirt and not light. It makes sense that the reason humans become indestructible supervillains in the afterlife is because of divine heritage.
The reason the only way to kill a sinner or royal is with an angelic weapon is because only angelic weapons can kill angels.

Another big reason for Blitz pushing Stolas away is actually a recurring theme in the show: social hierarchy. As far as power scaling goes, Stolas is a demon prince and ranks as royalty in hell (just below Lucifer and the Sins) and Blitz as an Imp sits at the very bottom of the ladder. It's implied several times that it's essentially taboo for different social castes to mix, so Blitz may not even consider things being possible between them.

    • @professorbutters
      @professorbutters 6 месяцев назад

Well, Stella certainly seems to be freaking out specifically because Stolas had a thing with an imp. During one fight, she literally throws an imp servant at him and says, “why don’t you fuck this one, too?” implying that it’s some kind of fetish. Of course, an imp falling into her cake saying “sorry I fucked your husband” probably doesn’t help.
BTW, I’ve always noticed that while it says “the morning after ‘real fast,’ “Stella is having tea and cake with her friends, not breakfast, and Blitz falls into a cake, which suggests that it didn’t just last all night but all morning, too.

First, a reminder: in the first episode, Murder Family, when Stolas is in the tub talking to Blitz, Blitz can be seen in one of the bubbles. So Stolas being able to watch him remotely has been established before.
Second: Loona's fighting included numerous martial arts moves, which means that she has been trained. I wonder if it was something Blitz had her do, or something she went through beforehand. However, it also fills out the company's roster and dynamic:
    Blitz: heavy weapons
    Moxxie: firearms
    Millie: martial weapons
    Loona: hand to hand combat.

  • @lobaetoile8440

Apart from what is stated explicitly by Moxxie on Blitz's hallucination (that he has intimacy, commitment and abandonment issues in relationships because he believes he's unlovable or inferior or maybe due to previous loss or betrayal), and apart from what the visual queues of the scene in which he's chained crawling towards Stolas on a pedestal implies (that there's a social class division he's overly concious about, also being scared due to the magical/socio-economical/political power Stolas has over him, as a Prince/Goetia), what I got from Blitz's psychy is that he specifically feels intellectually inferior to Moxxie.
In the hallucination, Moxxie is the person who scolds Blitz, telling him the truths he doesn't wanna hear. Although Blitz and Loonie often bully Moxxie, Moxxie has much better communication than them in comparison, he says how he feels and what he thinks straightforwadly and tends to be much more honest and moralistic. We know Blitz uses humor and crassness or provocation as a coping mechanism. He also often manipulates people or "performs" to get things from them (like manipulating them with sex/flirting, or lying/trickery). Loona uses aloofness and is more introverted than Blitz, also much more prone to use anger as a defensive mechanism.. But they both cover up feelings that make them uncomfortable or upset with some form of rebelliousness or even plane belligerance.
So, Moxxie's sensitive/more emotionally in-tune nature and his tendency to nag people and be openly critical makes Blitz feel threatened or out of his comfort zone. Also, Mox is clearly well educated and uses a broad vocabulary, he also is a little nerd who rambles about his knowledge about his interests, which happen to be mostly "high class" artistic topics (theater, opera, etc). In contrast, Blitz was raised on a circus and worked since he was a small kid... Circuses crews are small-close-knitted communites that have to constantly travel, move around and kids are home schooled or simply taught specific crafts there on the circus... It's a very unique environment. Judging by his speech/writing patterns (apparent dyslexia), Blitz probably either didn't finish formal education or was never good at studying. He probably focused on training skills such as gymnastics. He's street smart, resourceful and athletic, but he's not artistically creative or intellectual. Having said all that, I get the feeling Moxxie makes him feel stupid/ignorant, or maybe he thinks Moxxie sees him as those things, or maybe he just gets frustrated when he can't understand everything Moxxie rants about. I think this may be a reason why Blitz and Loona pick on Mox and lash out at him so much.

15:09 Blitzø hates himself, so he doesn’t believe anyone could love him. So he thinks when people show affection for him, that they’re just playing with him, and it’s all fake, because they couldn’t possibly love him. Like Stolas said in the background of his dream sequence, he’s pushes away affection, but also craves it as well. So he tries to hurt people before they can hurt him first, and doesn’t think when people show him genuine affection that it’s real. He’s also obsessed with Moxxie and Millie’s relationship, because their relationship is so perfect. He craves that, but tries to pretend like he doesn’t. So he just tries to push himself into their relationship to fill that emptiness, by stalking them and stuff, but doesn’t understand that he IS capable of having a nice relationship. He doesn’t think when Stolas shows him affection (which tbh.. as far as the writing goes, Stolas really doesn’t start showing him romantic affection until next ep, he kinda just objectifies him up till then), that it can’t be genuine, because Stolas is of so much higher status than he is, and like I said, Blitzø hates himself. The chain is there because Blitzø feels like he’s a bit trapped with their deal to use the book (like it’s still consensual, but it’s also still an arrangement), but mainly because Stolas is so much higher in power, so Blitzø feels like THAT’S what he is to Stolas. He doesn’t think Stolas thinks of him as an equal, or a potential partner, he thinks Stolas thinks of him as a slave and a nobody, because he’s an imp.

It shouldn't be surprising that Loona is a badass. Remember that Blitz is extremely protective of her . . . but in the prior episode, when faced with an enemy that was going to successfully kill both him and Moxie in a 1v2, his emergency backup plan was to summon her to take the guy on. He knows that she can _wreck_ a top-tier badass if she's up close and personal without him worrying about her safety.

likewise, iirc loona is 18-ish which makes millie 23, give or take, and octavia is 17.
Hard to say with some others though, pretty much everybody seems to have existed since creation or appears around 20, with around 50-100 years in hell. (given the era theming of the hazbin crew) we also eventually see something to indicate stolas and and blitz are roughly the same age, so if he has a human-ish lifespan he and stolas are probably both in their 40's give or take.

This episode solidified Blitzo as my favorite in the show *(Long thread explaining some stuff)*. Something you notice too is that in previous (and future episodes) episodes, when Blitzo argues with someone, it's usually "harmless" banter, no different than how you'd treat your sibling (see: Moxxie). But if an argument gets serious, such as the way Loona told him to fuck off in the Spring Breakers episode, he completely disengages and removes himself from the argument to avoid saying something he doesn't mean. That's why Moxxie is surprised when Blitzo in this episode has the outburst about Millie, and comments on it being an oddly personal blow.
Additionally, during the hallucination, the voices of everyone except Stolas are Blitzo's own voices in his head. This is how he thinks people perceive him. The trip explores his own self-hatred. When he crawls to Stolas, the art style shifts to the shows actual style, and he gets his regular clothes back instead of the clown clothes. The reason why, is because Stolas almost makes Blitzo feels like he can heal from his trauma and be himself. The issue is that, like Moxxie said, "Blitzo craves to be loved but also is afraid of loving," you'll see more of the reasoning behind this in the future. Blitzo is blushing when Stolas cradles him close, but he feels chained to him purely because he's aware what they have is contractual (the deal for the book). In the background, the imps who fan Stolas are also just silhouettes of Blitzo. To him, the societal hierarchy/divide between them is too large and he feels like he's unworthy.
Also, keep in mind, Stolas saves Blitzo by saying "who dares hurt my impish little plaything," for Blitzo, who already has self-worth issues, to hear Stolas call him a plaything probably solidifies that Stolas doesn't Actually Like Him. Doubled by how Stolas at first asks if he's alright, only to then pull his cheek and mock him about getting HIM in trouble if caught, and then asking for sex as a reward for saving him. :')
This episode is my favorite and I have a lot of thoughts about it.

I feel like so many people get so caught up in the horror movie scene of Stolas's arrival...that they don't realize his only real contribution was pressing one button to turn the lights back on. Like, he possessed the agent and puppeteered the corpses, but seeing how easily he opened a portal at the end, that seems to be more of him being dramatic than anything else. I mean, he didn't even kill the agents, he literally just turned the lights back on.

In the Ars Goetia, Stolas is noted as one of the very few demons who ISN'T likely to betray and kill you after being summoned, and he genuinely has more of an interest in astronomy, plants and the other subjects of his domain, all of which we've seen in his home as part of the background. So it makes sense that he's among the 'softest' of the demonic royalty in this show, too, and would avoid slaying humans if he doesn't have to!

So the lifespan of imps are normal lifespans, which is why they’re lower than sinners cuz they’re immortal, and special hellborn like stolas have like a super long lifespan presumably, also I always saw the chains for blitzo from stolas was blitzo being comfortable with the distance between stolas, then he sees stolas as chaining him up and pulling him closer than he’s comfortable with.

Then again, almost everybody else seems a century old at best. with the exception of a handful of overlords like zestial. (and we know stolas is roughly blitz's age from a later episode) Then again, I get the impression the sins have been around for eons.
As to the chains, I think it's meant to kind of show the conflict of blitz liking stolas, but feeling the relationship is transactional and feeling chained to it by the conflict on interest created by the book and instinctively pulls away because it's important to him that he chooses stolas, not that he's obligated to love him. (hence a certain thing we all kind of expect the s2 e9 to be about)

@@bryanmoberg8408Blitz persuades himself of that long after it should be obvious that this is not true. (I’ll spare some examples because they may be spoilers). As for Stolas’ age, the main variable is how old he is in the beginning of 2.1. Then there is a 25 years later-the beginning of his and Blitz’s relationship-and then a five year lapse, which would put him at 38. I have a hard time believing that five years have gone by from “sorry I fucked your husband,” but it definitely does suggest that he’s in his mid thirties. This also means that he married Stella as a teenager. Yikes.
How long he could live-I’d always assumed simply a very long life span, until someone pointed out that another character, much later, says “eternity is a very long time.” If that’s true, Stolas could live pretty much forever unless he’s killed. Everything seems very contradictory.

She won't see this, but it's important to note how Blitz views himself. In the ranking of hell's species, Imps are at the lowest in the hierarchy, while Stolas is pretty high up as a royal. So in their relationship, Stolas accidently pushes this concept on Blitz by calling him "my little imp" and "little impish play thing". This distances them a lot sub-consciously as Blitz sees Stolas as too royal and almost "pure" in his ranking (as seen in Blitz's hallucination as Stolas' feathers purify the steps). Blitz doesn't feeling worthy of Stolas, so believes Stolas wouldn't ever truly love him. You can see this really impact and play a part in his life as I'm sure he's been told by others that he's just a low imp. (Maybe why he wanted to start his business)

After weeby's question about striker's gold tooth in the last episode I went and looked, and she might be on to something. Not that a gold tooth means you are in a contract, but that a contract imparts some part of their body to yours. Val and Angel both have the same gold tooth as stryker, Alastor doesn't have a single gold tooth, BUT he DOES has a mouth full of gold teeth, I thought this was too make it look like a radio dial, BUT Nifty and Husk ALSO have a full mouth of gold teeth, and nobody else does. So it's actually somewhat possible stryker IS owned by Val, which might explain something else mildly spoilery.
More importantly, this means it might be worth watching for somebody who shares some physical trait with alastor, to get an idea of who owns him. Weird shadows, red eyes, that whole..voodoo scarecrow thing he has going. While I still think it's lillith, that doesn't seem to apply to her, at least the tiny amount we've seen of her.

Gold manacles appear on him because he feels like Stolas sees him as a toy/pet rather than a lover and equal. Stolas doesn't help this view when he's always slightly condescending to Blitz, calling him his little bitty imp, speaking in baby talk voice, and never taking him seriously. Loona is supposedly 22 "in hell years", which work differently to earth time in some nebulous ways. Imps are mortal and age like living humans do, but they live a lot longer though not the "functionally immortal" kind of longer. Viv didn't give a very specific range for how long their life cycle is, what their maximum age is before they can't avoid dying of old age, but she did say it's "like over 200 years" if I recall correctly, so it's at least double that of a living human. But still we don't know how "hell years" work, so we don't know if it would be longer for a human or specifically on earth.
This is not info we've gotten in existing episodes yet, got this info from the cast and crew watch party stream for 1x03 Spring Broken, it started with a chatter asking about Loona's age around the time she transformed into her human disguise. There was unfortunately a few seconds where the mic cut out while Viv was giving a bit of vague info about time/age, so we don't know as much as we could. lol

7:30 Imps and other Hellborn are NOT immortal like Sinners are - they can die of old age and being murdered, but they're significantly more long-lived and durable than a typical Human would be. There's a bit of an inconsistency though, in that Stryker says that only an Angelic weapon can kill "Hell royalty" like Stolas and the other high-ranking demons, implying that they ARE immortal, whereas everything else seems to indicate even Charlie and Lucifer are mortal... I think?

    • @september11youknowwhichyear

Charlie isn't mortal , so isn't Lucifer. Charlie (I think) can only die to angelic power Lucifer , on the other hand , seems to be way more powerful. He can't be offed no matter what , he was punished by the other eldritch angels because he , like the other ones , is immortal , so they were only able to punish him. Tbh it would make more sense for him to be immortal , cuz at this point he well uh , wouldn't be so alive anymore. Like , it was A LOT of time since he was alive , so it wouldn't make sense for him to be offed by some angelic power.

    • @LittlepipMLP
      @LittlepipMLP 6 месяцев назад

Hellhounds are socially the lowest, Imps are the most numerous and above them, and then you get the demons like Succubi/Incubi from specific rings who are higher ranked. Human Sinners are on the same or a slightly higher level, with a large gap in power among the Overlords above them. Only then do you have the demonic royalty like Stolas, followed by the Seven Deadly Sins, with Charlie + Lilith, and finally Lucifer at the very top.
It's hinted a few times that Charlie may grow to be just as if not even more powerful than her parents, but that's something we'll just have to see play out. Meanwhile, Vivzie has also commented that while their strengths lie in different areas, Stolas would wipe the floor with Alastor in a straight fight.
But every Superman needs their kryptonite, and for most demons below the Seven Deadly Sins, it's angelic steel.
This isn't strictly a power scale though, because Hellhounds are physically stronger than most, which is why we see them as bodyguards often; but they're regarded as pets or servants at best. Even Blitz's founding of I.M.P. is seen as bold by Striker, so Imps who.. ahem.. strike out on their own.. are also regarded as unusual.
As for the rest of your comment, there's often a lot of confusion when it comes to mortal vs immortal in fiction, but the latter simply means you aren't going to die from mundane causes, like old age or ordinary injuries. It doesn't mean indestructable, which is it's own term for a reason, and even then is often conditional.
Anything more I could add would be a spoiler, but that's the gist of it!

By the way, the o is silent in Blitz's name. He renounced his clowning days.

15:39 I think this is saying he believes Stolas “owns” him to an extent. The power and education difference is quite a bit “astronomical”, and I think he’s only ever addressed Blitz as an equal once, and that was out of anger. I don’t think it’s intentional, but Stolas definitely has to admit there’s a power balance issue to himself before he’ll be able to get anywhere real with Blitzø.

Especially since he needs to sleep with Stolas in order to retain access to the living world.

15:40 I think the chains are moreso trying to illustrate the fear of lack of "control", rather than an actually being forced/trapped by Stolas. I'm not 100% sure (could also be feeling trapped as in, trapped in their physical relationship) but I feel like his reaction later is interesting irt (it's not visible in this video but around 26:28); Stolas tries to lean in for a kiss and Blitz pauses before switching back over to being dominant and making it sexual (i.e. less emotionally vulnerable).
That's my wonky take at least.

This is how death works (as far as i know)
Sinners-Angelic weapons or else they kinda respawn, immortal
Ars goetia- angelic weapons, semi immortal?
Deadly sins and Lucifer- Angelic weapons, immortal
Imps/ hellhounds - anything, have a normal lifespan

Sidenote I've watched this episode uploaded with subs for Japanese viewers and not only are the subs really good translation wise, the Japanese viewers all seem to have one of two reactions:
      1) OMG EDO PERIOD MENTIONED?! *pointing meme*
      2) Simping HARD for the moment Blitzø goes "who wants to spend quality time with DADDY"
Also the Japanese ship name for Moxxie and Millie is Mirimoku and idk I just think that's freaking adorable
