A great performance by Rick Lawrence throughout this whole show, especially knowing that he had to beat some of the absolute very best on TV to win his first title. 1:03:38 is still one of the best breaks I've ever seen on TV!!!!
I remember watching this show live. I was 17 years old and I thought if Rick Lawrence could win a title, I definitely could. A bit cocky and naive maybe, but still an interesting memory.
1990's Northrock.....loving the lefties! At the 1993 Open, I asked Walter what was the best way to score. He said, "Stand on the left side and throw a backup ball." 😂😂😂
So true. I was in high school when this show aired and I remember thinking if he could win a title so could I. Obviously that’s an ignorant thing to even think, but this show always stood out to me.
This just proves to you anybody can peel off a title of you got a look. This man Rick Lawrence should have never won this. He throws it awful. Bottom line. Can’t believe he actually won 2 titles. Awful absolutely awful
Just for context.......Rick Lawrence DOMINATED the PBA regional scene around Texas during the late 90s early 2000s . Ability to repeat shots.....and being lefty.......
@@powerwagon1897 I don’t care what he dominated. He throws it absolutely awful. Point blank period. Only one he threw it better then was Scott devers. Who thru knuckleballs. Rick Lawrence thru a dead puck. Period
@@TraumaER I agree. I'm glad those things aren't as popular as they once were. It's weak, borderline cheating. Unless you're a senior citizen, you shouldn't wear one.
Gotta love the quality of old VHS tapes.

This and Steve Hoskins in 1997, I think it was tripped out the big four in the middle of his match was incredible to see.

Someone I know used to refer to the stadium in Reno as “The National Bowling Stadium (for lefties)”

THATS MY LOCAL BOWLING ALLEY!
Likewise!! Northrock is too damn easy, and I love it.
jeezus why is everybody cheering throughout the entire show??? Make it stop lol
The constant crowd noise was a gimmick that was used during the 1998 and 1999 seasons.
It's either silence or constant noise that helps the bowlers.
Recently we have the fans chanting now while bowlers are on the approach.
EnigmaZero,
Did you think the 98-99 gimmick of louder crowds and golden pins was a good or bad move for the PBA tour?
Louder crowds: terrible
Heavier Gold pins: great idea and I wish they’d bring them back
@@enigmazero8624 I recall the gold pins were topped with either a crown (for a Brunswick facility) or three lines (for an AMF facility).
The ones they used on the Tour were made by Brunswick and had a black crown at the neck of the pin.
EnigmaZero, It looks like you are planning to upload the Track Canandaigua Open from 1999.
Yep, the only time I ever went to a televised finals show
@@enigmazero8624 It looks like you were sitting in the audience during the Track Canandaigua Open.
Yes I was, though I haven’t uploaded it yet
@@enigmazero8624 you do have 1999 greater detroit open and bay city classic as well right?
@@michaelbarrett5149 yes I have all of the remaining shows from 1999.
I love bowlers that line up with their non-sliding shoe 🤦♂️
ran the ladder🐐
The 1st, 2nd, and Title matches of the Wichita Open had fantastic finishes. Also, It was an amazing performance from Rick Lawrence.
You’re a douche
Rick made it because the bowling house was with a lot backend. but I can tell that is the only one that you can through a no effort shot.
I'm sure Aulby loves people yelling in his backswing. Joke
It just seems like Rick can barely lift his ball. That lack of backswing is just so unconventional.

One of the worst bowlers in history to win a couple of pba titles
Love to watch conceited Walter lose👍
