Similar to Ash's but more collectively, the collapsing lift shafts in general. There were two or three in the game and they are my favourite moments, which is ironic because in real life I have a phobia lifts and continually imagine them going into free fall.
The one moment that really sticks with me is getting the Blades Of Chaos back. The whole journey sitting in the boat alone, the world changing around Kratos. Knowing he's got to go and get something from his past that he wanted to forget. In order for him to save his sons future he needs to dig up the past. Then when you get them it's just a big rush of nostalgia and adrenaline, the combat changes once again. Dam that bit alone just hit so well.
It's a bit of a weird moment since it makes no sense it's the blades of chaos. He doesn't have those. It should be blades of exile. It took me out of it but I guess those old blades more iconic

Perhaps he will meet an impressive warrior with an equally-impressive weapon who is dedicated to helping people along the way . . .
Thing is I thought we wouldn't see the blades of chaos again since for the moment I got so use to the Leviathan Axe. However once we get to the part where he must save Atreus by going to Helheim and the axe not being enough I knew where this was going. I wasn't disappointed. The whole moment with Kratos bringing out the blades and using them again was pretty epic indeed.
Yeah, and if I'm being honest about the best bit in-game, it's when Kratos go back for the blades. Not the "taking the blade" action, but the meaning of that action. He is accepting his past for his son, not for himself.
I liked how Kratos after defeating Hraezlyr moves a little to the left so that he is exactly centered when the dragon lands with his mouth open. if this was DMC, his stylish rank would be SSSSensational.

I was loving 2018's Leviathan axe, but when Kratos needed to face his past to save his son, I was floored, it meant so much to me as an adult, and I felt like the series had grown up alongside me. Kratos stands up with the blades, and tell's Athena? Himself? "I am your monster, no longer" I don't tear up often, but that moment sent a shiver down my spine, I got goosebumps, and I remember tears of happiness rolling down my face in the subsequent fight. I used the blades the rest of the game, and every time I replay the game I always look forward to getting the blades again. Change is possible, and we have to be better.
When The Stranger first spoke, I thought "Is that the twitchy fellow from LOST?" and it was! Jeremy Davies who played Daniel Faraday. Two great characters.

The call to adventure in the form of the stranger knocking on the door and an absolutely batshit insane fight ensuing is definitely legendary. Also, the stranger's dialogue, like so many other things in the game, makes so much more sense on a second playthrough.
The entire ending is incredible. I’ve watched the video of it maybe 2 dozen times. The acting and writing in that final scene between Kratos/Atreus and Freya/Baldur is unmatched in the medium. So much subtext packed into one cutscene. And then Kratos finally, FINALLY being a father and connecting with his son when they spread the ashes. Also, the first time you recall your axe. What a feeling!
The boss fights with Baldur were probably my favorite moments. The visuals, the effects, the music, the voice acting, everything about them just gave me chills whenever I played them, on the last boss fight I deliberately dragged it out longer because I was enjoying it so much.
Lot of great moments I love in God of War. The intro, the battles with Baldur,meeting the world serpent, Kratos getting his blades of chaos again, dealing with the very difficult Valkyries, slaying the thunder dragon boss, every moment Kratos saying Boy (that should be everyone's favorite moment 😉), entering the many different realms, and of course the way the journey ends. Which btw this game has one of my all time favorite endings in gaming if I were tbh.
Whole sequence leading to the blades of chaos. Just absolutely one of the most epic moments ever. Thats an obvious one though so I'll also say it's the first time the world serpent appears and you play and then look around and suddenly you keep panning around and notice that the damn thing is EVERYWHERE
One of my favorite moments from God of war was when kratos took his son into that one treasure room and seen that vase with a younger kratos on it and he broke it to hide his past from his son.
But Atreus saw the whole fragment depicting Kratos anyway, and said nothing. He knew it was his father, and he knew his father was trying to hide it from him, and so he pretended that it worked, just as he pretended not to see Zeus. GREAT character development moment.
Goosebumps digging up a past we swore would stay buried. It hits differently when you’ve played the original trilogy and all the bloodshed that happened in it. The beauty of God of War is that it’s great for new players and rewarding for those who played the originals. Kratos is not the only character that grew and developed, we did as well

I can't just do favorite moments from God of War(2018), I gotta go through the whole series. Running into Perseus(voiced by OG Henry Hamlin), The Steeds of Time, tearing off Icarus' wings, fighting Atlas, seeing Pandora's temple on the back of Chronos, fighting Chronos, fighting The Sisters of Fate. The opening of GOW3, Kratos pulling Poseiden out of Leviathan, seeing/fighting Hercules(voiced by Kevin Sorbo), Kratos chopping off Hermes' legs, fighting through Daedalus' Labryinth. "The Stranger" showing up and knocking Kratos into the sky, seeing and hearing The World Serpent for the first time. Seeing the aftermath of Atreus killing all the dark elves while Kratos was in The Light. Seeing Magni and Modi first the time, finding out there were Valkyries in the game and fighting my first one. Atreus firing arrows into Baldur while falling during the final battle. Looking at all the murals at the end of the game, finding out Freya was a Valkyrie and seeing Thor show up during the post credit scene.

The entire beginning with them hunting the deer just really set the mood. I was like, Kratos is all grown up. The point where he reaches his hand out to Atreus had me bawling. In Helheim when you see the giant bird eagle from the distance and then near the end of the level when the ship goes into the air at the level of the bird's head close up was amazing and showed off the true scale of it blew me away
Kratos - the power of this weapon, any weapon comes from here, but only when tempered by this... This intimate little scene between father and son is Kratos not only trying to convey a lesson to Atreus but also his hope for his son, especially with his plea for Atreus to be better than he was. That's just character Gold right there
As a father of a 7 year old ‘Boy’, this game was fantastic for me in the feelz department. So many “no you’re crying” moments but the one that I will never forget is my first Valkyrie fight. Being picked up and smashed by the face…. The game got real
Fighting with the stranger was such a great section that fascinated me. I was truly fascinated by the fact that the game presents such solid combat and epic fight.

The moment he gets the blades of chaos i was so happy and yelled out that some part of the old game had made the transition to the new world of GOW. And the 2 big dragon fights. The one in the mountain, and the one with the stranger on the back of the flying dragon. Those were the 2 most epic fights for me.
The whole game was and is amazing, easily the game of the generation but the part that I love is the axe, the sound and force of that thing is something else
I agree for me it was meeting Jormungandr. The way water fell and he came out and talked in this huge bassy voice. The whole scene was done so well. I was shocked to see his size and proportion as I didn't know much about Norse myth.
For me it's whenever he goes full cracked to protect atreus, even in cinematic scenes when Kratos puts himself between atreus and the ground, puts his arm in the trolls mouth, pretty much all the badass dad moments, all the protective Papa bear moments
I have watched many a streamer playing through this and even only watching I remember the first time I saw the initial encounter with the Stranger. Now that I finally had the opportunity to play it myself, it is even better. So yeah, I am with Rob on this.
My favorite moments (s): 1. When Atreus falls ill and we see for the first real time Kratos shows real worry for his son. And you know he loves him dearly. He swallows his pride and apologizes to Freya. He uncovers his past for him. No matter how painful. 2. When Kratos tells Atreus what it means to be a "god". To me this also represents a talk of what it is to be an adult, to be a man, to know who you are in the world. Something pretty relatable.
All the fights with baldur were the best moments for me since he is like the main antagonist and they rightly gave him a badass model, I like his unique look and wild fighting style. The final fight is surely my most memorable moment 😭

My favorite moment in 2018's GoW is simply when Kratos and Atreus drink wine. It's such an intimate bonding moment that still fits Kratos (and Atreus, for that matter) SO well. And as for previous games, I love anything relating to Hades in God of War 3. The Underworld, his boss fight, his voice and character design, the weapon you get after defeating him... everything is SO badass.
Playing on 'give me god of war' the most satisfying moment for me, was passing the area near the start with all the stone men that slowly reanimate, found it harder than most of the boss fights, but it felt so good after I beat it.
Towards the end when you take on "The Stranger" again, this time alongside Atreus, and then the world serpents joins the fray. I was so giddy with excitement
The ultimate moment is the Atreus reveal ! You immediately wanted the next game to be out ! The Muspelheim challenge when you beat 25 enemies untouched and that's an incredible feeling when you do it ! This game is a generational achievement ! No loading ! The boat dialogues ! ALL THE FEELS ! I remember watching Rosie's live stream and being frustrated that all she needed to do was up her attack but kept focusing on the defence stats ! ANYWAYS !
First time entering Alfheim. The art direction, design and graphical splendour had me blown away. After so many dreary looking games in the past, I realised that the designers had finally brought to life a truly beautiful mythical setting the likes of which had only existed as cover art on 70's vinyls and old fantasy books previously. It was then that I knew this game was going to be something special. One of the ever increasing number of 'games' I would consider as art.
Dave is absolutely right. Jormungandr is the best boi. I also thoroughly enjoyed every moment spent beating the Stranger's face in. He deserved every punch.
One of my standouts is when you come across the fallen Giant in the snow by the hand of Thor and you finally get a sense of scale of how big these things are. Blew me away.
That blew me away too. Because it made me think about how Thor(who is the size of a regular person) stabbing a Giant in the head with a spike that is also much, much bigger than him🤯
Kratos sparing the Stranger at the end on condition he calms down and then walking up to him, doing Kratos-work whithout any rage whatsoever. It showed how much he matured.
Of the main games: GoW: The Minotaur boss fight GoW2: The first two Sisters of Fate fight (multiboss done right!) GoW3: Recognizing the voice actor of Hercules by myself (good childhood times) =) GoW 2018: Re-taking the Blades (I was a bit sad there weren't many references to the old games - before *that* scene!)
I mean, the ending is just so beautifully done with all the emotional pathos, it literally gave me chills. It's hard to beat that! But, special mention has to go out to my boi JORMUNGANDR!
My favorite GOW moment, is in GOW 3 at the end of the game I get to punch Zues so many times that the screen turns bright red with blood, and the entire game is a moment for me tbh
It blows my mind this game was so good, I legit forget that dragon fight, and it looked like such a incredible homage to the Older games with that stance of Kratos just standing in its mouth at the end. I'm a emotional baby so all my favorite moments are just Kratos being a dad to Atreus. But the stand out one is when he allows Atreus to partake in some of the alcohol from Greece, and Atreus mimics how his dad drank the booze, I immediately bawled my baby eyes out.
One of my favourite moments in the game is when Atreus pulls you out of the Light of Alfheim and Kratos thinks he’s only been gone a moment and when he shouts at Atreus he notices all the dead Dark Elves on the floor around Atreus and stops shouting. Also, how good is Mimir (I love the voice acting) I don’t usually bother with Trophies but I just had to get the Platinum for this as it was so enjoyable. Although I did struggle on my 1st play through to get the queen Valkyrie.

When you meet Sindri and Brok for the first time. Some of the things they said and did...oh boy. Also, I loved Mimir's stories.

All the fights with baldur were the best moments for me since he is like the main antagonist and they rightly gave him a badass model, I like his unique look and wild fighting style. The final fight is surely my most memorable moment 😭

Just finished my first playthrough of this yesterday. My goodness what a quality game. Instant top 3 contender.
My favorite moment in 2018's GoW is simply when Kratos and Atreus drink wine. It's such an intimate bonding moment that still fits Kratos (and Atreus, for that matter) SO well.
And as for previous games, I love anything relating to Hades in God of War 3. The Underworld, his boss fight, his voice and character design, the weapon you get after defeating him... everything is SO badass.

I really loved the first time you go into Tyr's temple and the travelling mechanic is revealed, then the Alfheim level.
Playing on 'give me god of war' the most satisfying moment for me, was passing the area near the start with all the stone men that slowly reanimate, found it harder than most of the boss fights, but it felt so good after I beat it.

Towards the end when you take on "The Stranger" again, this time alongside Atreus, and then the world serpents joins the fray. I was so giddy with excitement

The Muspelheim challenge when you beat 25 enemies untouched and that's an incredible feeling when you do it ! This game is a generational achievement ! No loading ! The boat dialogues ! ALL THE FEELS !

First time entering Alfheim.
The art direction, design and graphical splendour had me blown away.
After so many dreary looking games in the past, I realised that the designers had finally brought to life a truly beautiful mythical setting the likes of which had only existed as cover art on 70's vinyls and old fantasy books previously.
It was then that I knew this game was going to be something special.
One of the ever increasing number of 'games' I would consider as art.

Dave is absolutely right. Jormungandr is the best boi. I also thoroughly enjoyed every moment spent beating the Stranger's face in. He deserved every punch.
The entire game is one big favorite moment, can't wait for ragnarok.
One of my standouts is when you come across the fallen Giant in the snow by the hand of Thor and you finally get a sense of scale of how big these things are. Blew me away.
That blew me away too. Because it made me think about how Thor(who is the size of a regular person) stabbing a Giant in the head with a spike that is also much, much bigger than him🤯

Kratos sparing the Stranger at the end on condition he calms down and then walking up to him, doing Kratos-work whithout any rage whatsoever. It showed how much he matured.

I mean, the ending is just so beautifully done with all the emotional pathos, it literally gave me chills. It's hard to beat that! But, special mention has to go out to my boi JORMUNGANDR!

Not a particular moment, but the pacing of the whole game (the script and moments of silence were well-executed) and the cinematography.
My favorite GOW moment, is in GOW 3 at the end of the game I get to punch Zues so many times that the screen turns bright red with blood, and the entire game is a moment for me tbh

Ash thinking a short, scrawny, tattooed, bearded dude is hot has given me the confidence boost of a lifetime
It blows my mind this game was so good, I legit forget that dragon fight, and it looked like such a incredible homage to the Older games with that stance of Kratos just standing in its mouth at the end.
I'm a emotional baby so all my favorite moments are just Kratos being a dad to Atreus. But the stand out one is when he allows Atreus to partake in some of the alcohol from Greece, and Atreus mimics how his dad drank the booze, I immediately bawled my baby eyes out.
This was my first platinum as well. I loved every minute of it.

One of my favourite moments in the game is when Atreus pulls you out of the Light of Alfheim and Kratos thinks he’s only been gone a moment and when he shouts at Atreus he notices all the dead Dark Elves on the floor around Atreus and stops shouting. Also, how good is Mimir (I love the voice acting) I don’t usually bother with Trophies but I just had to get the Platinum for this as it was so enjoyable. Although I did struggle on my 1st play through to get the queen Valkyrie.
