Could cut the edges off the box by cutting it upside down on a table saw. Maybe a good idea would be to attach a sheet of rubber on the underside of the wood cover. Then when the cover is closed the rubber would compress on the edges of the box and act as a lid.
I like your live well build with using the rechargeable batteries and the process you use to refill and dump the water out. Can you let me know what pump and rechargeable battery you use?
Works for me. I just made a bait tank out of a 14 guart igloo cooler. Complete, with an airation system.

This things sick. Im 16 and aboutta buy a boat. Its not a Jon boat but the back has a Jon boat type seat in it which i could hollow out and out something like this in there. What supplies did you use? Obviously id use a container that would fit the space better.

Just a sajestion put the lid back on run a scribe around thr outside of the lid take a sharpy and make a mark about 2 inches or so all the way around the lid and cut it out glue the lid to the bait well when you hit a wake or what ever it will prevent the water from splashing out as well as gipping the fish in the bait well. Keeps the water in the bait well and not in the boat
Did it end up working and keeping fish alive? I’d be worried about the aeration part and giving fish enough oxygen?
