Patrick is worried because he hasn't heard from Robin since she left on her trip. Robin does call but Patrick senses that something is wrong with her, and that is confirmed when Liz spills that Robin is sick.

They were going to initially have her die from complication from HIV that's why this s/l because KMc didn't want them to replace her but then they changed it so that everyone thought she died in the explosion but showed her alive and kidnapped so they could do a return from the dead s/l and agreed to not replace her with another actress---remember FV also was instrumental in her getting a shadowing gig with Gray's Anatomy right after she left when she was brought back from the dead to stop his wedding with the stupid nurse
