While Suddenly is all a bit faint in typical Caribou fashion, it's nevertheless a sweet and heartfelt helping of indietronica.

Hi everyone, Leotony Poldtano the Second here

Is it blue and black or white and gold?
8/7 = blue flannel
@@Evol-wf4jx doesn't 8+ = Yellow?
@@JoshMarshain yellow is only for solid/strong 8s and above. A light 8 won't warrant the yellow flannel.
Let's Argue: The Blue Flannel is actually white and gold.
Let’s Argue: The Blue Flannel is just a shiny version of The Yellow Flannel
Shiny shiny shiny yellow flannel
Whiplash girl child in the dark
Just wait until until they fuse into the glittery green flannel

"sister" is a beautiful unsetteling opener, much like something that maybe took inspiration from kid a era radiohead, then there are nujabes and soul love letters like "home" and great nods to the 2000s post punk revival (interpol, lcd) like - "never come back" and "like i loved you" and "cloud song" is beautiful too! glad you liked it, those were some of my feelings too!!!
Actual discussion in the comments? What is this? Where are all the dumb jokes?
Sounded to me like the Secert of Mana OST had a love affair with the Kings of Convenience
Sister is so damn good, holy
disliked cause no melon racist joke 😡😡😡
Sergej Lovrekovic Filterd Grand Piano sounds a lot like Glass Eyes from Radiohead
all documented flannels
Red Flannel: Bad/not good
Yellow Flannel: Really good
Gray Flannel: Neutral
Blue Flannel: In between Gray and Yellow
White Flannel: Angel Olsen
Orange Flannel: Kamasi Washington
You forgot when he wore the red flannel with a denim vest and gave Flume's - Hi This Is Flume a 7, very confusing.
@@XxFoolishippoxX any review without only a vest isnt considered

I guess blue flannel means a 7?
Ecléctico Iconoclasta he gave unlocked an 8
No he gave it a 8
Blue flannel means 7/8 he also wore it on danny brown's review
Melon you forgot your DS at my house
Is the why he never responded to my Pictochat message

@@misterknightowlandco not trying to be funny but I'm legitimately curious.. do you respect his opinion as far as his reviews and his scores?
@@trip2belize are there any ways to see his comprehensive list other than looking at his descriptions?
@@trip2belize Eh not really. Not his fault though. Everyone enjoys different things and music is very subjective. I just come here to hear about stuff I've never heard of before. I think reviewers would be better with a simpler system of ranking like skip, youtube it and buy it as a rating scale.
@@misterknightowlandco this is exactly why I come and watch his videos. It's for exposure. I've noticed I thoroughly enjoy a lot of the projects he gives low scores to. For whatever reason that is. The reason I asked is because I see some people use his reviews and scores as some sort of validation. It's not alarming or anything but I just don't see why people put so much weight into his opinion. Just curious though thanks for the reply.
this the most visually pleasing video of yours
very good choice of flannel
I was really happy with how put together everything felt and how textured so many of the sounds were, especially in comparison to the last few projects from Daniel. I expected it to be just as understatedly lush as always, but I was surprised at how hard he pushed towards groove in places.
There were a couple songs that didn't have the best buildup or resolution and I found a lot of the percussion choices a little bland or passe on a few cuts. The lyricism also didn't do it for me and I wish he could find some more confidence in using his voice, but it wasn't grating anywhere.
I feel like if the next Caribou record pushes this style more and tries to step into funk and hip-hop instead of just toeing into it he could make something just as fun and inspired as some of his earlier records. I think a 7 is a fair rating.
Love always getting turned onto new music from this channel that I don't always know about!

Naw bitch.
I would love it if a bunch of people decided to prank Anthony by walking up to him and real life and asking him one of these goofy questions.
dude did he do it yet? im in his sociology class and unfortunately got grouped together, hasnt done a thing..
Fun fact: Dan Snaith has a PhD in Mathematics and his sister taught it at my alma mater.
hey did you do the biology study guide? i just am kinda struggling with DNA replication
Mason McClure bruh we are doin that’s right now
Bro I'll let you copy off mine, just repay me by making me look good in front of the girl who sits in the row behind us.
Are you stuck on a part about Okazaki Fragment?
DNA only elongates from 5’ to 3’, and it untwists while being replicated. The leading strand is continuously synthesized while the lagging strand must be broken into Okazaki fragments to be replicated.
@zorbas091 King, the name of the enzyme which replicates the DNA strands is called 'DNA Polymerase'. Similarly, 'RNA Polymerase' is the enzyme used to transcribe a DNA sequence into Messenger RNA for further translation. Well done explaining the process of DNA Replication though, Mason will greatly benefit from your explanation.
strong 8 imo, best he’s sounded in over a decade
That's where I'm at with the album as well, maybe even a light 9 because I've always enjoyed Caribou but never loved their albums front to back, and this albums been on repeat since I first heard it. However with Fantanos explanation to where he finds weaknesses in the album, while I disagree I can understand why he'd give it at 7.
Chris Bridges I agree

Caribou better do better than Tame Impala so I can get a high level quadruped album in 2020
The way Cloud Song builds and progresses gave me full-body chills. My favorite Caribou release, hands-down.

This record slaps in a melancholic way.
I've been waiting for this review since the album came out! I've listened to this all the way through a few times already. Such a unique set of songs. Always have loved Caribou, and he really shines on this album. (Also thought the ultra rare blue flannel was fitting)
The album is great, all you need to know
Anthony my mom says you cant come over tonight because you made a mess last time
God dammit, I was SINGING THAT SONG when I clicked the video and we straight up had a duet for a minute there. I'm dying.
I really like this new white and gold flannel 😍
I missed the last record, but years ago I obsessively listened and followed Dan. I picked this up today out of excitement for his return and I must say I really love the direction he's going on this one. I've listened twice so far today and was fully engaged for the entire length of the LP. Solid review, thanks for doing it.
Home is so fire. Didn’t know the whole album came out so thanks, deff gonna check it out now
Blue flannel feels like when the albums very good but pretty by the numbers for said artist. Nothing groundbreaking but quality nonetheless.
It’s the flannel your not suppose to get crazy excited for but reassuring that good music still exist
That rmr intro tho
Would be so interested to know your thoughts on Christine and The Queens latest album ´La vita nuova’ you should check out the full length video! ✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽
Anthony, please review All That Must Be by George Fitzgerald - it’s a very subdued, yet layered, deep house album. I’d say it’s far More artistic than most deep house releases.
Hey anthony, i know u rarely take requests for reviews, could u please review Kimi Tsunagi Five M, the debut LP for this really amazing japanese rock bands. I promise you you will not regret
Rmr approves this intro.
nice touch
The blue on your shirt really brings out the blue in the album cover.
i like the white and gold flannel melon
ya put the whole goddamn album in favorite tracks but only a 7... I see how it be
THE BLUE FLANNEL!! It looks fantastic, love seeing it
OK Lime is a dope track back off
I was trying to go to sleep but then Suddenly
a blue flannel
thanks fantano for putting me on to Caribou when you put "Home" in your Best Tracks of the Week a while ago. i'm so glad i checked it out
I agree with review melon but I really lost my mind in the part where you said Nav has a better discography than Kendrick Lamar.. I mean ... DAMN !!
I missed my bus Anthony, can you pick me up?
In my opinion:
"Suddenly" was a high 8 for me, very strong contender for album of the year as well (alongside Camo & Krooked's "Red Bull Symphonic", Clowncore's "Van" (yes, really), and Metrik's "Ex Machina"):
The flow throughout the album just hit right at home. The melancholic tone mixed with the hiphop influences, the sampling, the synths, arps, drums, etc. just felt really enjoyable to listen to. What also made it so enjoyable is that it was easy on the ears for the most part. It's not an album that is so fixated on the loudness factor or boosting the low-end and high-end to get your blood pumping. To me, this is an album that ties the knots between so many different influences and stories and it just captivated me immediately.
"New Jade" was my favourite track on the album. Such a simple melody and prog, but it doesn't have to be advanced to be absolutely stellar.
Caribou > Daphni
Not sure if I like any of the songs on here better than "Odessa" or "Can't Do Without You," but this album's chill beats came at a good time for me. Did kinda falter in the latter half, though. 7/10.
I really enjoyed the Sizzling EP that you reviewed last year and was glad to see Sizzling do well in your top singles of the year so cheers for recommending it Anthony 👍
Melon you just “suddenly” dropped this review. I can’t believe you didn’t give us any warnings smh, this is just like that time you “suddenly” decided to show up to my sisters wedding.
So he's doin it again
Im really into this white and gold flannel
swim is still revolutionary
When lime was your favorite track because of all the guitars and the sudden drop-off :(. Idk that was my favorite part of the album.
It isn’t a perfect album no but I have been jamming the hell out of it more than any other album that’s come out this year. Very accessible without being predictable or overtly pop-y
it's really a bad album. Never come back is such an annoying cheesy track with a predictable trancey/piano line and the rest smells like.. stinky pop with poor singing. I'd much prefer to listen to Katy Perry or anything made up by PCmusic gang. There is nothing genuine with Suddenly. It's drawing under too many pop inspirations, trying so hard to be cool at mainstream pop.
Thought it said Cailou
Okay that’s cool but when are you getting around to reviewing Companion Rises by Six Organs of Admittance?! You hooked me onto their latest album with one of your last Weekly Tracks, and I love it, plz review
I like clicking into reviews of music I've never heard before, looking for the next 10!
Review of the new Four Tet album ‘Sixteen Oceans’ coming soon?!
I listened to that entire album and the Clams Casino just before this one. Good quarantine mix.
Blue flannel? Don’t think I’ve seen that before
Memes aside the singing at the beginning was on point, Melon.
I like how blue the water is
Melon thinks Caribou using hip hop beats is some new thing, but dude's been doing that his entire career. Do you even Pelican Narrows bro?
So let me get this straight Melon:
Red Flannel: 4 or lower
Blue Flannel: 7
Yellow Flannel: 8 or higher
Black/White Flannel: Posthumous Releases
T-shirt: 5 or 6, but can potentially be for any score
Day 16. The Cosmogramma LP still hasn't moved an inch from Anthony's shelf.
The intro to this video is perfectly in tune and time with Car Seat Headrest's song Vincent.
Great review Fantano. Always appreciate your opinion.
I'd give it another point boost though. Great album.
Our Love is so widely adored in the UK that it sounds weird hearing it dissed this way
As long as it's flannel instead of plaid!
Ooooh lookie!!! Your outfit matches the album cover!!
Would love to hear Jay Z rap over the instrumental on Home. So good
Enjoyed this album quite a bit, been a good year for electronic music so far. Hope he checks out the new Vladislav Delay
Turn the 7 upside down it’s a 9 now
Check out Violet Cold - Noir Kid. Pretty extreme genre fusion going on there!
That blue flannel feels so refreshing
I never really felt the appeal of Caribou’s music, which sucks because he’s got John Schmersal from Brainiac and Enon in his live band and I’d love to see him play something. Just never could get behind this in particular.
I think blue is like the tier below yellow he’s given some light ‘8’s in it and I don’t know if he’s ever given anything lower than a ‘7’ in it. But unlike the yellow and red flannel this is not reserved for a certain quality album, it’s just an option when he wants to review a “pretty good” album
I’m digging this LP a lot. 8.5/10 for me. also, sick blue flannel champ
Anything with deephouse in the description is getting checked out by me.
How am I only listening to this for the first time now? It's funky as hell!
I was hoping for a "BLUETHANY THEMETANO" intro based on the thumbnail. Feel we missed the boat on that.
I'd love to hear your opinion on the new Moses Boyd album, Melon. Especially given your enjoyment of Kemet and The Comet is Coming!
Wheres the updated music review for Anthony for 2020? I wanna know how many 7’s he’s given this year.
5 so far
I still think about Caribou only as a song by Pixies.
Thats probably where the name came from lol
'Magpie' is so good.
Ngl, the blue flannel is actually the best looking flannel 🔥
Cool review Cal keep it up
Opening with the RMR a cappella very nice

We need more cal cameos to balance the comment section
Dude these are so infuriating. Who actually finds these funny?
The worst is when you have to scroll for miles through stale jokes until you find any meaningful discussion of the album. It's usually only that bad when the album is popular, though.
They are just so immature and repetitive. None of them were funny the first time. This could be a great place for actual music discussion but these folks ruin it!
The singing at the beginning was great Anthony
i am throbbing over the rmr intro
Ok, but all memes aside, are we just gonna ignore him KILLING that intro???
The melon is white and gold today.
Good review, once again! 😊 Thank you for that!! Little question: have you heard of a young Canadian song writer called Andy Shauf?! He already has a lot of albums out, but he just came out with The Neon Skyline (not my personal favorite!). The Party is his masterpiece! The Bearer of bad news is also very strong and full of haunting tales and great songs! If you could eventually give it a chance(his new album at least), I would love to watch that review!! 😊
wheres the Loathe review tho?
Was hoping you’d review this one! Like it but not anywhere close to as good as Our Love
Please do PTSD G herbo
So, a blue flannel is a fringe yellow flannel?
