My great great grandparents traveled with my great grandmother, Ludmilla, on that ship. Arriving in 1910 after a 9 month journey and after burying one of their sons at sea.

Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse is a ship that I have always wondered about. I have been researching Titanic and maritime history in general for the last 34 years of my life and I rarely ever find a detailed history of the ship, let alone any photographs of her interiors or any other details of her design.

My great grandfather served on this ship in WW1 as an engineer. This ship is why my mom’s side of the family is Spanish/German. After this ship was scuttled during the battle with high flyer. A Spanish ship picked up the survivors and dropped them off in De Grand Canaria. My great grandfather has medals and paperwork supporting his time served on this ship.
