Actually Bill Cosby asked her to do it!
The first episode wasn't very good. So Cosby wanted it to reflect and be more. Debbie Allen took over and Bill Cosby bowed out, it was her baby and he knew he didn't have to worry!

when they got a new show runner in season 2, she apparently made all the girls take their weaves out. you'll notice in season one, some of them had weaves and stuff. but in season 2 there were a lot less weaves and more natural hairstyles.

Everyone here is taking about black beauty and Jasmine, Cree and Charlene’s talents as well as Debbie directing which she made the show amazing over the years. But are we not gonna talk about Jaleesa talents dancing in this sequence I mean the girl was super talented in the show and what gets me about the dance is her swagger and the in your face attitude she gave those girls in the end.
