A day on Madeline Island. La Pointe, Wisconsin. Lake Superior ( 4K HD )

Madeline Island is the largest one in the group of the Apostle Islands on Lake Superior off shore Wisconsin. Easily accessible by a 20-min long ferry ride from the nearby town of Bayfield, it is a great spot for kayaking, camping and just getting off the grid for a while. There's a small settlement of La Pointe, Wisconsin on the island that has a port, a post office, a small bunch of restaurants and more -- just for you to pass quality time.
I only spent a day on the island being unable to get a hotel room, otherwise would stay longer. There's not much to do except to enjoy the nature and immerse in your favorite activity -- be it hiking or fishing or yoga. This place is amazing, being so close to the civilization yet so small and remote. If you're considering, just go without hesitation, you'll never regret.

Do you have to pay the ferry to get to Madeline ?

Yes, you need to pay, there's a kiosk right by the small ferry port and they have different rates for passengers, cars, bikes etc. In 2021 the round trip rates are $16 for an adult and $27 for a car. Car rate doesn't include passengers.

Is this a good island for bringing bikes and or electric bikes?

This is heaven for your bikes and especially for electric bikes. The island is flat, fairly small in size with good straight well paved roads. You'll be able to map a few day trip bike routes easily. You will have the time of your life.
