Jim is demonstrating his learning from a great teacher. We (Brian and I) really appreciate your “low key” teaching about rockhounding. It helped me find a 7# agate on the Yellowstone in September. Loved your videos before - now even more as it helps us remember the beauty and wonder of Montana.
Jim is doing an outstanding job finding and identifying really good rocks! Nice finds everyone, as always. Nice to see you guys got a few big ones, and they're all beautiful. Thanks for sharing!✌️🤠
Tor is correct. By oregon standards, its huge! lol! beautiful agates kate! Great job Jim! Gorgeous agatized wood! Wow! What a perfect agate heart Kate! I love the baculite! Wow great finds Kate! And Jim! What an awesome day out with the family! Thanks kate!
The days of the month of October are superb; colorful nature everywhere, ripe fruits, mild and calm weather, leaves that flutter and fall forming foliage that covers the ground to beautify it, which makes this month the most beautiful of the year. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I love streams. Good walk to all
What a fun trip with the 3 Bertin Amigos. You guys found a lot of cool stuff today 😊. I’m glad to see that getting the boat in and out is now just a natural reflex. That’s great that y’all mastered that, and have fun hats to show how it really is 😊 (wink, wink)
Yellowstone river was some of the most fun Rockhounding I've ever had. My two younger brothers and I went there 3 years ago and are planning another trip back already. We've all been rockhounding for about 30 years (myself 30+ years) and despite traveling the country, we've found the along the Yellowstone, from Montana to North Dakota our favorite spots for hounding, as well as scenery. The Rockies are cool, don't get me wrong, but there's just something about "badlands" formations and the subsequent geology that beats all! If you're still looking for that 10+ pounder and don't care if it's from the Yellowstone river, consider checking the flood drains under I-10 through Arizona and New Mexico during, or after rainy season! 😉
That sounds fun, if somewhat noisy. :D But the 10-pounder should be a Montana agate, as my current record is 9.2 lbs. and I told my son I wouldn't cut that unless I found a bigger one!
@@KatyDidRocks Fortunately it's not very noisy. Plus, I-10 in those areas on most days you get maybe 5 or 6 vehicles an hour. 15 or more and you could consider it "rush hour".😂 Good luck on your 10 pounder!🤞
Honestly, not really. There's a lot more silt in some places, and obviously the gravel islands have moved, but the Yellowstone is filled with treasure even without the flood.
@@KatyDidRocks Kate, for those of us old enough, taking us back to our younger years/Sesame Street days, this might help: rubber ducky you're the one...
Beautiful finds as always! My girlfriend and made it to Montana but we're not having much luck with agates. 😭 Beautiful quartz pieces though lol Any spots along the Yellowstone you recommend for a couple of out-of-towners?
@@KatyDidRocks thank you so much for the info! We tried a few spots around Billings yesterday(still no luck) but we'll be back out there and further east today! Thanks again! ☺️
Curious as to what you all have against Oregon agates. Tor's comment in this video is very condescending. The PNW has many beautiful agates much larger than Tor's prized pea size find that he felt compelled to toss out an Oregon insult with. I have always enjoyed your video's, and am disappointed that you chose not to remove Tor's comment. Not removing his comment indicates that you agree with him. You have fans from all area's and all walks of life, way to alienate a large group of your admirers.
Awwww, I'm sorry you were offended. Tor's comment WAS a bit snarky - but he has his own sense of humor. He was being "funny" - because Montana agates are stupidly big compared to many other areas. When I went agate-hunting on the beaches in Oregon, I was every bit as delighted with the lovely (but small) pieces I found there than the big ones here. There are beautiful rocks in EVERY corner of the world.
@gail day. It's unfortunate that you don't share in his humor and wit. His channel is awesome and I am truly sorry to see you have disagreement with tor.
Then you gotta understand about people from Oregon they're weird, many of them from California and they hate people from California, they're just all a******* they should change the state from Oregon to a*******

The best!

Thanks, Kyla. The rocks on the beach were almost ALL small - but it was a fun time. :)
I love when you go rock hounding with your family. Beautiful finds. Thank you

Agates galore! Love Jim's finds. So sad about the package thief.

Lovely day out on the river!

It looked like a great day. Great finds! Have a great day.

Beautiful Rocks!!!!! 🤗🤗
Great hunt Kate!! That root beer colored agate was beautiful, and chunky. Very cool.😎
Wasn't it cool?
Fun! Such a warm fall. I never noticed Kava’s spats before. Thanks.

I live on the Yellowstone River and I've got five five gallon buckets full of those things my wife hates them
Awwww. I'll take them off your hands if she just can't stand them. :D
Have you had any luck finding mountain jade? Or any jades in general, the agates around the Yellowstone River are definitely plenty!
Hmmm - I've found green jasper, and I'm TOLD there is jade in the area, but I don't think I've ever found any.
Watching from pinas setio Palanog Garita San Enrique Iloilo.
Thanks - and hello!
Enjoyed your rock hunt. Have you noticed any difference in the treasure you find now after the flood?
Honestly, not really. There's a lot more silt in some places, and obviously the gravel islands have moved, but the Yellowstone is filled with treasure even without the flood.
HELP! I can’t find the “join”button to purchase the membership? It’s not next to the subscribe button.
Have you researched to see what kind of wood that has been petrified in your area? We have several different kinds here in Colorado.
If I remember right, it's mostly cyprus - but I should look into it. Thanks!
What is that buggy thing you have for your bucket called?
Hi, Chrissie. It’s from a company called Broll - tell them KatyDid Rocks sent you. 😄
Duck fly south in the winter time should explain how it got there !!!
LoL 🤣, it looks like his GPS wasn't working very well...he got a busted beak!
