@@thb219 the x series makes everything clearer but instead of modding my two active guitars other than pickup swap i use the 24v mod on one of them which has a similar effect of more headroom and dynamics
@@metal571 I mean 81/85 or their X series go good for a reason, but I don’t like that much treble for a clean tone like the 81 or that much bass for a distorted tone like the 85; I’d use a full second channel or two volume pots to get around it and even for other pickups I have the bridge full and the neck mostly cut with a single-channel amp.
Such a great point. The regular 60 pickup has lush incredible cleans that would rival any passive p/u. Awesome video! As always!
well done Thevon, a good alternative to the 85-89.
This is definitely going to be my metal rhythm set
well made video. EMG 60 all the way. For all necks ans bridges. 🙂🤘🏻
That sounded really great!! I think I might try your idea of the 60A in the bridge position. I have never found an emg I really like in the bridge.
I've found the 85X to be awesome for that position. Was a drop in replacement for my 81, and replaced my neck 85 with a 60x
I swapped the stock 81 bridge with it, but the 60 is still in the neck; it sounds great this way!
The 60ax ist the most versatile Bridge Pickup from emg in my opinion

EMG 60A is the most underrated PU from EMG in my opinion. Both in the neck and bridge position.
Kinda like the 60a bridge / 60 neck combo.
regular 60 seems to distort quicker than the 60a
I hated the 60a in the neck. I've learned I hate the sound of Alnico pickups and love ceramic but I can't say I've tried the 60a in the bridge.
Ouch, I don't like it in the bridge, too «bell-like» sounding, not enough bite for my taste. I normally prefer ceramic pickups anyway.
