Whenever I drive by a damaged building such as the one in Oakland I can’t help but think of all of the people who have passed through its doors. The man that worked so hard to afford to open his brand new business. The mailman who went through those doors every day to drop off the mail. The young woman on the first day of her first job. I think about what simply passing through those doors meant to so many different people.
I do this when I travel to places and come across old buildings or visit somewhere very old and historic....I love to imagine what life was like in that space and all the people there and their stories. I always wish when I walk into an old building that I could see a story in my mind, like a movie, telling it's story and about the people who breathed life into it.
I grew up in a town that was done in by uncontrolled crime and of course drugs and alcohol abuse. The old corner stores run by families was destroyed by such people not bringing their government dependent children up properly. It's something that's still happening across America. Now it's department stores ransacked of goods and now closing down. Lost jobs for those wanting to work and hold are town together. Love this blog of goods gone bye...
I grew up in NYC and never saw any small towns in the US until in my early twenties. I travel the states quite a bit now by car, and I love taking the smaller roads and seeing the small towns. Somehow, even though I am a first generation immigrant, and grew up in a big city, these towns still give me a nostalgic feeling. I guess it's the longing for a slower, simpler life in times past.
NYC and LA is what the world thinks America is. I'm glad you've found out for your self that it is so much more. Good on you for taking blue roads and avoiding interstates, thats how its done my friend.

I love these videos. My mom grew up in Lula and we use to visit family there back in the 70 and 80’s as kids. It was a bustling town until the crop picking starting to be done by machines. Also they built a new highway further away from town. Now it’s about 300 people or less at last count about 10 years ago. I miss those days and visits. They were so fun bicycling around the town with no worries during the summer.

Although I live on the coast....its like a different state altogether!
@@jameslockard6956 I agree. I went back a few years ago to visit my sister, who lives in nearby Bolton and couldn't believe how much it has grown.
Thnx for showing us all these cool places!
Great video through my state. Grenada MS has some really neat old buildings so come see us. Great coffee shop downtown also.
I loved this vlog. I currently live in a town next to Walls and I’m from Amory. I love Amory and miss living there.
Have to say these small town videos are my favorites on RUclips.
LOVING these videos Adam! Keep up the awesome work!
Adam a series of vlogs came up in my feed today of your dad doing videos !! Awesome ! Tell him he has the gift just like you do and should start doing them again !
Shall you.....Love the small towns Adam, and love going down memory lane with your Dad as well....
Seeing that Rexall sign always has me think of the fantastically funny Phil Harris & Alice Faye radio show as the opening was "Good Health to All from Rexall."…A nice visual which triggers good memories of the past…
another great part of your road trip home , well done again and thank you adam :)
Thanks Adam, looks like you are having fun, well without coffee!!
Great video Adam. Just the way I like them; all laid back, and peaceful; old world and a little lonely.
Great video as always Adam! Will be heading down yonder thru Mississippi after the 1st of the year. Will check out “Hot Coffee” in Mississippi. How could I ever forget that name. Lol. By the way we have a town in Kansas called Coffeeville close to the Oklahoma border. Lots of interesting places in Mississippi and lots to see on the back roads. You highlight those so well. Enjoying the trip along with you. Thanks for sharing👍
Very nice. Wish you had investigated the drive in theater. Looking forward to tomorrow's episode. 👍
Adam : these cross country vlogs are AWESOME my friend I look forward to every one of these vlogs . THANK you Frank from montana....
I’m from MS. I didn’t realize you were from here. I was born in Forest, MS. I’ve lived in south MS, Biloxi, Ocean Springs, McHenry, and Wiggins. I’ve live in central Ms, Morton, Pearl, andJackson.
Enjoyed this. I’m glad you also fancy the fade “ghost signs” on brick buildings. Nice 👍. Hope you will find your way to Old Highway 66, in central Oklahoma in 2022. We’ll be happy to see you. Cheers.
Thank you for another exciting day. I find myself pulling up a map as you go so I can follow along with exactly where you're travelling. Looking forward to January and beyond.
if you ever get to go to Cobourg Ontario Canada, just after the dutch oven, on King street there is a huge mural painting of the old steam boat fairy from Rochester NY to Cobourg Ontario, ALSO the water tanks just off Darcy street , several Murals as well, there are a few more but i forget right now :D
These backroad vlogs are ATW at his best....great stuff.
@6:09 there was a rare truck.. the "lil red express" dodge
Glad your going home Adam , you will make more great memories now !😎😊🤗
