A note regarding your discussion about Sietch Reverend Mother around 1:09:40 - you are not forced to trash a card when you play that card to send an agent; the trash symbol in the Agent Box is always an OPTIONAL action.
Nice game, great fun to watch! Just wanted to say that adding specimens doesn't mean that you run out of troops for combat. It is allowed to take specimen cubes and turn them into troops - says so in the rule book. So there's never really a downside to adding specimens unless you want them as tech negotiators (maybe not even then; you'd have to ask Paul Dennen).
hello, please can any1 explain me Cheesable's turn, specifically what he did at 1:30:53 ? starting 1:30:25 I understand he visited secrets, drew intrigue card, then he took action of truthsayer (discarded dagger, drew a card), then action of slig farmer (gained solari and spent solari) but after all this he trashed dagger and drew 2 more cards (like selective breeding action). I played only few games of dune, so im still learning and maybe i miss some mechanic. btw Orski, very well played, im regular viewer of your vids, hope sometime i'll catch you on live stream
Yeah I see no reason why he was allowed to do that. I guess that after he resolved his cards he thought he had gone to selective breeding. Unfortunate, because it gave him a big reveal turn with shipping. At the end I don't think it mattered though; plans within plans was locked down and he didnt steal an alliance with the faction bump from shipping. Orski wouldve gotten 3rd though and gotten spice, because cheesable would not have had that dagger I believe.
Usually this happens if you have an action in your mind, change course at the last second and then (because there is so much to keep track of) your brain says you need to resolve the action you had in your mind before. It happens to the best of us in the heat of the moment, hence why you never just say "It's Cheesable so it must be fine". I doubt he was intentionally cheating, Cheesable isn't the type to, but we all make mistakes 😅
the turn you took a beetle bump instead of buying the research track card. you could have put it on your desk and you knew you were drawing experimentation this turn. buying it would have allowed you to start your turn with experimentation then play it which gives you your last two research bumps (including your fourth beetle bump) and trashing it for a point. that said i’ve not finished watching the game yet and that’s not necessarily an optimal way to go into round 7.
drawing cards with space port if you hadn’t wanted to be sure of 4 intrigue i believe you can buy the tech then use your ring to acquire to top of your deck a fremen card (say liason). then draw 2. i think this order of play may not work any more under the new “atomic” action rulings though. and also you may have wanted to draw Kwi so putting card on top hurts chances of that.
39:29 I feel like the really simple answer here is to get swordmaster first with the dagger, and then trash the dagger when you go selective breeding next? Was there a specific reason you needed to get swordmaster as your second action?
So about powerplay to selective breeding. Do you gain an extra bump if you trash it to selective? I guess not otherwise you would not have trashed your infiltrator card?
You should still be able to get an extra bump as effects can be resolves in any order. Only one thing that must be first in order is paying 2 spice for board space cost (e.g., pay 2 spice (must) -> get extra bump from power play in play effect -> trash power play to draw 2 cards) I haven’t watched the video yet but reckon he want to thin out his deck to increase chances to draw other cards
@@lancedang104 Apparantly they made an addendum somewhere that states that if you choose to resolve an effect, the entire effect should resolve. For instance, if you want to get the additional bump from Power Play, the card trashes, meaning you can't then trash it to Selective Breeding. Or you can choose to trash it to Selective Breeding, which means you can't then trash it for the extra bump.
@@bastange8856 ah yeah that makes sense, since it would be kind hacky to resolve a different effect in the middle of the power play effect. I remember there was a conversation around going fold space into selective breeding and then trashing fold space. Sounds cool, never got the chance to do that . But with this addendum you mentioned it definitely makes more sense
@@lancedang104 It used to be that you could yes, I have been told that has been taken back though. This is from hearsay from pple I've played against in matches, I haven't actually done the research on it myself, so do take that into consideration.
@@felkdav I was told differently, but I'm not a judge or anyone very knowledgeable about this, I'll let others decide. At the end whatever they decide on for the tournament rules will stick imo. Maybe the veterans can give us a definitive answer? P.S. The one I was told about stated all effects in a card box need to be resolved as one unit. AKA the abovementioned "for posterity" boardgamegeek forum doesn't apply anymore since they still base it on the ability to resolve part of a rule box and then switch to Selective Breeding and then do the other part of the rule box (the actual trashing).

I honestly couldn't understand what they did either so hopefully someone has our answer!

There wasn't and it was absolutely the play imo. I think Orski was afraid Selective Breeding would get taken if he didnt take it first action.

Deck building in dunne would be a better strategy if the game ended on turn 12 or later depending on play testing.😊
with the "Epic mode" you can prolong the games so they last pretty much till the last conflict card (but that's' still 10 rounds)
Thanks for the video. But the Spice, must flow.
