The Hilleberg Unna is growing in popularity due to its many features and pure simplicity. Although some of the Hilleberg Unnas features, won’t appeal to everyone, including the price!
Thanks for posting this review. Personally I love this tent. I'm the wrong side of 65 now and not as flexible as previously. I really appreciate the space to be able to get changed comfortably and having sufficient headroom to use a Trekkerchair inside the tent. Whilst it is very easy to pitch you do have to be careful if it's windy. The thing can take off like a kite if you don't secure it before inserting the poles. I've never double poled but I have upgraded to the 10 mm spec and also added extra guy lines occasionally. I don't think it's as strong as the Soulo but I'm confident it'll handle the worst weather that I'm ever likely to camp in. Personally I think it's the most misunderstood and underrated tent in the Hilleberg catalogue, although more and more people are now starting to appreciate it. Pricey? Yes most definitely, but I can honestly say I've never regretted buying this tent.
@outdoorswithrichard Thanks Richard. Regarding the cost, people should remember that the resale value of Hilleberg tents is excellent. Kept in good condition a Hilleberg can give you a fair chunk of your money back if you choose to sell it on. I did this with my Akto and Soulo because they didn't serve my needs anymore.
@@frederickridall628 absolutely! I’ve resold a couple of Hillebergs over the years and when I factored in the usage and enjoyment I got from the tents and then a decent re-sale value, I didn’t feel I had made a loss!
I also have an Unna and love using it. Haven't found the vestibule to be an issue, it's the same size as my Terra Nova Laser 1 and as you mention you can create extra room easily. For me it's the interior space that's so nice, especially in winter when you're stuck inside for long periods. Opening up the whole side of the tent is also a real treat when the weather allows. And it should last me for many years. 🙂
The ease of setup, and internal space was a big factor for me buying this tent! I too have never had an issue with the none of or lack of vestibule space. Also being able to unzip both doors fully to create easy access and having an unrestricted view is awesome. I love this tent and it’s fast becoming one of my go to for most trips! 👍
I’ve used my Unna for many years now. I just love it. The minimal ”vestibule area” is underrated and enough for rain gear, boots and boiling water. The extra space of the inner tent allows you to comfortably keep the whole back pack and all your gear inside and dry, easy to reach. I love that. I go for week long through hikes in Swedish wilderness with a 120 liter back pack. I’m 191cm tall. In forested areas I set up a small tarp over the entrance, creating a luxurious proch! The tent is best in cool to cold conditions. During a hot sunny day or morning, just stay outside the tent. 😅
Very well said! I agree with everything you say and couldn’t have said it better! I absolutely love my Unna and have had many great adventures, which have resulted in many happy memories! 👍
Its a great tent. Yu can make it bomb proof by buying the extra poles and double pole it. I find creating the vestibule is a wee bit messy but i will sort it out. It is possible to sit inside the vestibule on a Helinox chair and cook, once you have shifted the footprint away. I have only used it on a couple of trips it will be fine..
Love this tent. I should use it more. Have the Anaris as well. You can’t go wrong with Hilleberg and if you look after your tent you can sell it on. This off sets the initial investment and you will do something good for the planet 👍
I’m a massive fan of this tent, despite the price tag! I also feel if you look after this tent you can re-sell it at a later date and being a Hilleberg, you will always get some returns on your money! 👍
I don’t know about people becoming richer, but people that like Hilleberg tents and choose to spend there money on high end tents are gravitating towards a simpler designed tent, that is capable in most weathers.
If I was in the market for a Hilleberg, then I’d have this one over the Soulo all day long…👍🏻 However, I’m also one of those that simply cannot justify the price of all the ‘Hilleberg’ tent range! I think if they were to reduce the price of all their range by 40%, then this would bring them much more in line with all the other major competitors, and as such I’m sure they’d sell double the volume that they currently do! They have simply priced themselves totally out of the market IMO, only wanting to sell to those who have a lot of spare cash floating about.. I currently own half a dozen tents, after 3 years of wild camping - with now 75 solo camps under my belt. And after totting up the total cost of all these six, (£880) it comes to not much more than this “single” Hilleberg shelter.. Basically what I’m saying is you don’t need to spend a fortune on tents like this brand, to be able to enjoy the great outdoors to it’s fullest… Good review though, happy travels. 🏕️

Each HB tent is worth the money... look, what money can buy you otherwise these days... the pleasure it provides is priceless!
Well said! 👍
more and more popular? Does it mean people are getting richer now? This is a $ 1k tent.

No pocket where it is most needed. I had to sew a pocket myself. 😡

It could definitely do with an extra pocket! 👍
