    I would like to see a video about reinforcing the eyelets with leather as I have never heard of such a thing!

    I've heard about reinforcing eyelets with leather, but I've never seen how, so that is a video I would be very interested in seeing!
    Also, look at you using Actual Tools to sand your boning! I'll admit that last time I just used a rock...

    These look amazing! I never have thought to do stays with the seam allowances sewn like that and your sewing binding close up was very helpful to me! I can't wait to try this method for a future stay creation!

    Wow. Another gorgeous pair of stays! What are your opinions on using zip ties as boning?

    • @GraciePattenSewing
      @GraciePattenSewing  3 года назад

      I've used them, and they work pretty well, especially in more heavily boned stays.

    What pattern did you use for your shift? I feel like the one I made doesn’t have the right neckline and the sleeves feel rather bulky under my bodice sleeves.

    • @GraciePattenSewing
      @GraciePattenSewing  3 года назад

      Anna Keller, @eighteenthcenturyscot on Instagram, made it for me! For the shifts that I've made, I just use a cutting diagram, and cut the neckline on myself. As for the sleeves, you can make a shift with shorter, un-gathered sleeves (accurate to the 1780s and 1790s)

    Have you had any issues with reed boning in older stays snapping over time with use?

    • @GraciePattenSewing
      @GraciePattenSewing  3 года назад +1

      yep! last year's stays have a lot of snapped bones, and I'm gonna make a video about replacing bones in stays.

    Are stays like a period bra? What about well endowed women? Do you design them to just smush everything?

    • @darknessfierce4209

      From what I understand they’re supposed to distribute the weight to your waist
      And many stays have crescent pillows that support the bust

    • @darknessfierce4209
      @darknessfierce4209 Год назад

      That being said, there are an infinite amount of different types that create different shapes

      And yes, exactly it was the bra
