Literally they took part of his story and lore, he is shadow character that can silence enemies. Now they removed his silence from passive and first skill. He is usless right now. Easy to dodge his damage and easy to kill him because he lost his passive.
After the nerf on his 1st and passive, Helcurt has gone pretty downhill. He's now really ult dependent since he can't usually kill someone without his ult because of the small 1st skill AOE and lack of silence especially if he's using retribution and not petrify. His passive on the other hand is like 90% non existence in games. There's only a few situations where you would notice it such as Franco and Tigreal's ult, Guinevere's 2nd skill and purposely standing underneath a Ling ult to silence him but even then it's pretty unlikely to find yourself in most of these situations. But the worst part about his passive is the fact it only works when you are CC'ed and that's pretty bad since most CC last just as long as Helcurt's passive silence so basically you are stunned and can't really do anything but your silenced victims can still pretty much run or do autos and their teammates can still finish you off during your CC duration. Wish Helcurt could somehow get a revamp, I mean it's not impossible to use him in high rank like I still use him and do pretty good but he's not a preferred choice when assassins such as Lancelot, Hayabusa and Ling exist. Maybe a mark mechanic where he gets a reset on his 1st skill and every 3rd cast causes his 1st skill to also do a silence.

His passive was changed to how it was in the first place, when helcurt was in the ban list. I remember helcurt's passive getting nerfed and then he was removed from the ban list however when he was changed back to how he was, before nerfing, no one played this hero.

There's also the part where I can't remember when, but I think his 2nd skill's dmg was nerfed into the ground, or he just couldn't keep up with the dmg output of other assassins. I just feel like his 2nd skill dealt way more dmg before, when he was released.

Natalia is stronger than HC since she has silence and basic attack immunity while Helcurt only has silence Their damage output is also comparable but Natalia is stronger in the early game and she is still playable in Late Game just like Selena
Well since I’ve playing the game since season 3 the notable nerfs I can remember is 1. He can’t have petrify as his spell since Moonton really wants to copy LoL but won’t allow you 2 spells like LoL (so it’s an indirect nerf) 2. 2nd skill damage nerf for the jungle and creeps 3. Passive nerf and change to him being able to silence when he’s being CC’d and not like before when he gets attacked regardless, since he’s so squishy

There were times when playing helcurt I couldn't even stack up anything because teammates would just take everything. They really need to change the cooldown on his ult, allow him to maintain stacks for longer period of time plus widen his 2nd skill and just like barat give him stacks when he respawns from dead and add more slow to his first skill or lower the cooldown. Theres just a lot for him to maintain in this fast paced game where evryone can just spam their skills.
Here i am reaching in Mythic Glory 1k with Helcurt ... and Elgin makes a video of how his stack dependant n useless helcurt is, without his ultimate. 3 Tips for anyone trying Helcurt. 1. Build: Tough boots, Hunters strike, Dhs, golden staff, corrosion scythe and Brute force breastplate. With this build attack speed is on steroids, and golden staff gives u full stacks in 3 basic attacks and Corrosion scythe slows enemies so u can land ur spells properly ... Demon hunter sword n Hunters strike is flexible ... Buy Malefic roar or Blade of despair ... Whatever suits u. 2. Use helcurt's ultimate mainly as a way for u to steal objectives ... Unlike Elgin here. Espically if there's 1 or 2 minions inside enemy base range, use ultimate n start attacking base ... Enemies can't see u nor hear the base being attacked. Elgin had several chances to end the game early but he didn't use them. 3. Use Helcurt with petrify ... He isn't very viable as a jungler that much. Bonus tip: Don't listen to people who really have no experience on actually playing something. Elgin here did it as a way to showcase the re-released zodiac skin for helcurt, his opinions are based on the limited no. of matches he has with helcurt (with or against) and if I'm not wrong ... This isn't a mythic glory gameplay ... It's too slow paced to be mythic.
All of what Elgin said here was valid, all the assassins have better ways to engage and have multiple dashes at a minimum, if you miss your ult with ling? Who cares? If you whiff your Haya ult? Who cares? If you Whiff a Natalia Combo? Who cares just hide or dash away, of Hc dosent get his skills of he's a sitting duck with no way to escape and he is very ultimate reliant, most assasin's ults are there as combo extenders, they should buff him by doing what they did to argus by reducing his ult cooldown and giving him full stacks once i activates
Why helcurt is the most unpopular assasin: 1. Squishy. - Ever notice that assasins have escape skill or heal even without emblems? Yeah. Healthbar is low asf even marksmen have more hitpoints. Because of this, he can't even stay long in teamfights. 2. Escape skill - the same flaw with saber. You chase and you die. Unlike lancelot, ling or natalia that can go undetected with 1 simple skill, or others that have a speedup or reset in blink skill, he has nothing. 3. Damage is good, but not enough. - helcurt is a 1 hit hero. Meaning once he uses 2nd skill, he must run away. The problem is, sometimes enemy lasts longer than his silence and survives his skill 2. For reference, saber's full combo has armor buster and heavy damage with it. His cc duration is also dope. For helcurt, he can only target marksmen. Other than that, and he will not last long enough to kill his target. Take paquito, or chou, or aldous. They can punch away at helcurt even though they have low health because of how squishy he is and how much they are unaffected by his dmg source. 4. Lack of cc - He has silence, yes. ONLY IN THE ULTIMATE Look at ling, he has knockup to have room to deal damage Look at lance, he has lots of slow to help his skills aim easier Look at saber, he has stun to kill the target immediately Any other assasin, they have one cc skill that will get their hands on another kill. Helcurt just have a 30% slow, and a 1.2 silence. The slow is bad cuz anybody can still sidestep eith that slow. 1.2 silence is also not enough cuz he not natalia that can follow up with basic attacks that can chase the enemy. Helcurt? He jumps, lands his skill, then he and enemy (most of the time, enemy can blink away after lasting in the silence duration) can go away casually. They could have buffed his blink skill by resetting it, or could have changed his silence with a 70/80% slow. Look at his damn overall winrate, 45?!

Two things why Helcurt is unpopular: The damage source is heavily relied on skills, and also with the side-step techniques. Helcurt is like Lancelot (exceot Helcurt is more basic attack) but both share the same weakness of easy side stepping to their side.
Im sure it’s because of his passive because it’s annoying for a skill based hero like chou and badang. His ult is not that annoying unless you play a mm. He become less picked after moonton nerf his passive
Helcurt need some tweaks. Maybe longer/permanent retain on the second skill thorn thing so he don’t need to go back and forth to restack. From 8s to 12s. Shield when using blink skill. To increase survivability. Increase health. Then he might become middle tier.
his skillsets seriously need a revamp because of this meta. His kit is more like entering a teamfight but not having any chances to escape because of his lack of mobility and his first skill long cooldown. If you compare helcurt with ling or lance and fanny, all of these assassins have immunity or high mobility (ling first skill, lance second skill and fanny cables). This actually made him useless in the teamfight/late game and he starts to fall off during mid game.
Its hard for me to maintain every role in epic soloq since im mostly mm and mage main ijust want to rank up to mythic but epic is hell i can barely escape the hell matches sometimes
Helcurt is a great pick if your playing with reliable allies, like a 3 or 5 men team where you know that they know what to do. In solo or duo, is getting more harder to win with Helcurt, since the randoms will keep dying, not knowing what to do when winning to end the game as fast as possible. Would also be great to have like 1 or 2 late game heroes in the team in case the fight becomes long. Helcurt is amazing for first 15, 16 minutes, after that he starts becoming less and less useful. That’s why is important to push the game when leading with Helcurt so the game ends in first 15, 16 minutes.
Helcurt is actually a really good assasin rn, i just hope they lower his ultimate cooldown because that's his main initiation skill. If you didn't know, back then when you deal damage to helcurt you automatically get silenced which was quite op so i understand why they nerfed that. His new passive is actually good because he can cancel a prolonged cc but i hope they adjust so that there's a silence for each individual enemy cc so if he blocks the first cc and another enemy cc him it will be canceled. For better details: Helcurt passive: For the first individual enemy hero cc, helcurt silences the perpetrator. The next enemy hero who applies cc on helcurt will also be silenced and silence duration will be halved every new cc applied by a new enemy hero and has a cooldown of 4 seconds on each different cc and hero. To try to simplify what i mean: An enemy hero will be silenced when they apply cc to you, the second enemy hero who applies cc on you will be silenced but only half the duration and also applies to the next cc and has a cooldown of 4 seconds that will begin after the enemy applies cc.
I'm I the only one that helcurts passive does not work for? Eudora freezes me and should be silenced but she is not. I checked and my passive was not on cooldown yet I did not see any silence icon on eudora. She also did not have any control reduction
I'm convinced that hero design is the most determining factor in the hero's popularity. Faramis, Vexana, Helcurt, Zhask, etc. Even the OP Balmond is only popular for a while before it stabilized somewhere in the middle popularity (the last time i checked)

15:30 it would have been better if you distracted them by pushing so one of their teammates will go back and defend, leaving some of their allies outnumbered, this will make it easier for your teammates to get lord, if their non damage ally goes back to the base, you can go to the lord area and kill their dmg dealer, if the dmg dealer goes back to the base instead of the non damage dealer, then you can go back to the lord area and help your teammates
I think helcurt is pretty good but I just reached epic 2 and I have played for about five weeks so I guess my opinion is not much and there are probably plenty of ways to counter the problems I am having with helcurt
Well firstly he has a tanks passive on an assasin. He can silence the person who CC-ed him but as an asssasin getting CC-ed in a bad spot means you are dead anyways. If his passive was put on a tank it would be pretty distruptive but not helcurt. Second he needs to keep up stacks to deal any damage and his stacks can only be obtained in melee. This is awful when you are behind even just a little as the enemy can simply deny jungle and threaten lane and snowball until you are less than half a hero. Lastly his skill 1 no longer silences without ult. This makes him as dependent on ult as argus, except if the enemy groups up, his ults effectiveness is significantly reduced regardless as he can be bursted down. This is especially true when he is behind as he can end up being nothing but a melee minion when he has no ult.
I wish helcurts ult immediately grants him 5 stingers and doesn't show any notification that you or your teamate slay an enemy(the notification will appear after the duration)thus will ensure enemy not knowing helcurt had been because they dont know which ally had died,it is a good addition because during teamfight,most enemies cannot know which ally if them died and it will grant a more surprise effect to helcurt, Wish devs do it

There were times when playing helcurt I couldn't even stack up anything because teammates would just take everything. They really need to change the cooldown on his ult, allow him to maintain stacks for longer period of time plus widen his 2nd skill and just like barat give him stacks when he respawns from dead and add more slow to his first skill or lower the cooldown. Theres just a lot for him to maintain in this fast paced game where evryone can just spam their skills.
Here i am reaching in Mythic Glory 1k with Helcurt ... and Elgin makes a video of how his stack dependant n useless helcurt is, without his ultimate.
3 Tips for anyone trying Helcurt.
1. Build:
Tough boots, Hunters strike, Dhs, golden staff, corrosion scythe and Brute force breastplate. With this build attack speed is on steroids, and golden staff gives u full stacks in 3 basic attacks and Corrosion scythe slows enemies so u can land ur spells properly ... Demon hunter sword n Hunters strike is flexible ... Buy Malefic roar or Blade of despair ... Whatever suits u.
2. Use helcurt's ultimate mainly as a way for u to steal objectives ... Unlike Elgin here. Espically if there's 1 or 2 minions inside enemy base range, use ultimate n start attacking base ... Enemies can't see u nor hear the base being attacked. Elgin had several chances to end the game early but he didn't use them.
3. Use Helcurt with petrify ... He isn't very viable as a jungler that much.
Bonus tip:
Don't listen to people who really have no experience on actually playing something. Elgin here did it as a way to showcase the re-released zodiac skin for helcurt, his opinions are based on the limited no. of matches he has with helcurt (with or against) and if I'm not wrong ... This isn't a mythic glory gameplay ... It's too slow paced to be mythic.
All of what Elgin said here was valid, all the assassins have better ways to engage and have multiple dashes at a minimum, if you miss your ult with ling? Who cares? If you whiff your Haya ult? Who cares? If you Whiff a Natalia Combo? Who cares just hide or dash away, of Hc dosent get his skills of he's a sitting duck with no way to escape and he is very ultimate reliant, most assasin's ults are there as combo extenders, they should buff him by doing what they did to argus by reducing his ult cooldown and giving him full stacks once i activates

Why helcurt is the most unpopular assasin:
1. Squishy.
- Ever notice that assasins have escape skill or heal even without emblems? Yeah.
Healthbar is low asf even marksmen have more hitpoints.
Because of this, he can't even stay long in teamfights.
2. Escape skill
- the same flaw with saber. You chase and you die. Unlike lancelot, ling or natalia that can go undetected with 1 simple skill, or others that have a speedup or reset in blink skill, he has nothing.
3. Damage is good, but not enough.
- helcurt is a 1 hit hero. Meaning once he uses 2nd skill, he must run away. The problem is, sometimes enemy lasts longer than his silence and survives his skill 2.
For reference, saber's full combo has armor buster and heavy damage with it. His cc duration is also dope.
For helcurt, he can only target marksmen. Other than that, and he will not last long enough to kill his target. Take paquito, or chou, or aldous. They can punch away at helcurt even though they have low health because of how squishy he is and how much they are unaffected by his dmg source.
4. Lack of cc
- He has silence, yes. ONLY IN THE ULTIMATE
Look at ling, he has knockup to have room to deal damage
Look at lance, he has lots of slow to help his skills aim easier
Look at saber, he has stun to kill the target immediately
Any other assasin, they have one cc skill that will get their hands on another kill.
Helcurt just have a 30% slow, and a 1.2 silence. The slow is bad cuz anybody can still sidestep eith that slow. 1.2 silence is also not enough cuz he not natalia that can follow up with basic attacks that can chase the enemy. Helcurt? He jumps, lands his skill, then he and enemy (most of the time, enemy can blink away after lasting in the silence duration) can go away casually.
They could have buffed his blink skill by resetting it, or could have changed his silence with a 70/80% slow.
Look at his damn overall winrate, 45?!

his skillsets seriously need a revamp because of this meta. His kit is more like entering a teamfight but not having any chances to escape because of his lack of mobility and his first skill long cooldown. If you compare helcurt with ling or lance and fanny, all of these assassins have immunity or high mobility (ling first skill, lance second skill and fanny cables). This actually made him useless in the teamfight/late game and he starts to fall off during mid game.

Helcurt is a great pick if your playing with reliable allies, like a 3 or 5 men team where you know that they know what to do. In solo or duo, is getting more harder to win with Helcurt, since the randoms will keep dying, not knowing what to do when winning to end the game as fast as possible. Would also be great to have like 1 or 2 late game heroes in the team in case the fight becomes long. Helcurt is amazing for first 15, 16 minutes, after that he starts becoming less and less useful. That’s why is important to push the game when leading with Helcurt so the game ends in first 15, 16 minutes.
Helcurt is actually a really good assasin rn, i just hope they lower his ultimate cooldown because that's his main initiation skill. If you didn't know, back then when you deal damage to helcurt you automatically get silenced which was quite op so i understand why they nerfed that. His new passive is actually good because he can cancel a prolonged cc but i hope they adjust so that there's a silence for each individual enemy cc so if he blocks the first cc and another enemy cc him it will be canceled.

Helcurt passive:
For the first individual enemy hero cc, helcurt silences the perpetrator. The next enemy hero who applies cc on helcurt will also be silenced and silence duration will be halved every new cc applied by a new enemy hero and has a cooldown of 4 seconds on each different cc and hero.
To try to simplify what i mean:
An enemy hero will be silenced when they apply cc to you, the second enemy hero who applies cc on you will be silenced but only half the duration and also applies to the next cc and has a cooldown of 4 seconds that will begin after the enemy applies cc.
I think you should just have to play better. Than relying too much from your hero spamming skills.

I'm I the only one that helcurts passive does not work for? Eudora freezes me and should be silenced but she is not. I checked and my passive was not on cooldown yet I did not see any silence icon on eudora. She also did not have any control reduction

I'm convinced that hero design is the most determining factor in the hero's popularity. Faramis, Vexana, Helcurt, Zhask, etc. Even the OP Balmond is only popular for a while before it stabilized somewhere in the middle popularity (the last time i checked)

15:30 it would have been better if you distracted them by pushing so one of their teammates will go back and defend, leaving some of their allies outnumbered, this will make it easier for your teammates to get lord, if their non damage ally goes back to the base, you can go to the lord area and kill their dmg dealer, if the dmg dealer goes back to the base instead of the non damage dealer, then you can go back to the lord area and help your teammates

Well firstly he has a tanks passive on an assasin. He can silence the person who CC-ed him but as an asssasin getting CC-ed in a bad spot means you are dead anyways. If his passive was put on a tank it would be pretty distruptive but not helcurt.
Second he needs to keep up stacks to deal any damage and his stacks can only be obtained in melee. This is awful when you are behind even just a little as the enemy can simply deny jungle and threaten lane and snowball until you are less than half a hero.
Lastly his skill 1 no longer silences without ult. This makes him as dependent on ult as argus, except if the enemy groups up, his ults effectiveness is significantly reduced regardless as he can be bursted down. This is especially true when he is behind as he can end up being nothing but a melee minion when he has no ult.
