Wow, where can I see or hear more of your playing. As someone who spent most of their young life playing the bass guitar to subsequently give it up to have a family and then get the urge to pick it back up, you have wowed me and made me feel the way I used to watching tremendous guys like janek and Victor again, thank you.
Great review and playing! I have to comment on your tone. I really like how nice your tone is . Most of the demos I have seen in the ehb have either way too distorted or thin sounding. This is the demo I have been looking for wirh a great player, excellent tone and great overall review. Thank you !
Excellent, tasterful playing. Great info and video. Yes, the B string is flabby on so many 5 strings.. The nice sounding 5th/B string, thinner neck looks great on this. Sweetwater doesn't seem to have them anymore.
Would that bass handle odd tuning? I prefer to play w/High B. I usually get strings for a 6 and set aside the low B & tune DADGB, the neck seem great so just trying to do my research! Great demo
Hello ...would you recommend this bass for homerecording ? im playing nearly every genre on guitar ..dont know alot about bass. but i would like to play a versatile bass ... im between fender jazz and the ibanez EHB
Alex, The 1265 model seems to stand out in the EHB range as best value for money. I see you’re also a Lakland fan. Talk about polar opposites. I’ve owned many Laklands too, and love the sound and versatility, but the weight and significantly larger dims vs the 1265 must make to Ibanez feel like a race car vs the Limosine that is a Lakland. Do you think you’ll keep the Ibanez, or was this just a trial of sorts? I’m a Sadowsky guy at heart, ( Have owned 3, currently my main gigging axe) But this EHB really perked up my ears/eyes. Extreme light weight , headless, Fan fret, Graphite rods, extensive active circuit, there’s a lot to like…..I think I’m gonna have to pull the trigger on one of these…….thx for the fantastic vid. Your a great player, and you really record your audio very well, which is much appreciated.
Hi pb, thanks for your kind words. In the end I found I missed the heft and size of a more conventional bass too much. I'm 200lbs and over 6 foot tall, so even though there were some advantages, bizarrely the Ibanez felt just too light and compact! There was also a lesser issue of it looking a little out of place in a blues band I play with regularly. However, the fan frets led me to getting a Dingwall Combustion, which has become a firm favourite over the last few months. A demo video will follow soon.
I would consider the 1005MS to be the best value, presuming you're not infatuated with the mocha finish of the 1265MS. The reason being- the BH2 pickups that come stock with either option aren't that great, and so when you factor in the cost of replacing them, the 1265 costs more like a 1505MS which comes stock with better pickups and has some equally nice finishes (especially the two rare discontinued ones). In my opinion the 1005ms also has the nicest neck & fretboard of the lot, it's gorgeous & sturdy.
Very basic gear - I recorded it on my iPhone with a Lightning to USB adapter I bought on Amazon for a few pounds, connected into an inexpensive Behringer QX1002USB mixer and a lapel mic that again cost very little. Low-tech, but I'm glad the result was acceptable! 🙂
Did you have to order the aguilar pick ups from the US? Cant seems to find any european sellers. ALso did the pick ups fit perfectly ? I heard that new versions of the aguilars dont exactly fit. Great playing and review. This model with the Aguilars is a beautiful combo.
I have the foam green one . This sounds alot better. Better tone woods. I had to put in aguilars to get a better sound. The fanned frets are a pain in the ass. Lol
Thanks! I heard this one was being released, and discovered my local music store had ordered two from the UK distributors, so I paid a deposit on one. The second one was sold before it arrived as well. I was never very keen on the other finishes, but I really like the walnut top. I think I just got lucky - other stores over here are showing a 12-week delivery time for this model.
The bass comes fitted with D'Addario EXL170-5SL (super long scale) but the length from the ball end to the nut is about 36.5 inches, so other strings might fit.
@@h0nza_ I've found that as well as more bite, the Aguilars offer more detail and overall tonal character. The Barts were nice and rounded, but a bit 'polite' to my ears. It's also possible to tweak the preamp to boost the output - the two right-hand plugs on the long edge of the long connector strip in the control cavity are marked INPUT, 0DB and +6DB. Moving the connector to the +6DB plug raises the overall output significantly. The board also has two plugs on the short edge marked VM3 OUT (the vari-mid default) and BEQ3 OUT. If you move the connector to the BEQ3 OUT plug, it seems to add some edge to the treble control. These are things that I picked up on a bass forum here in the UK, and they do work, but obviously you try them at your own risk! :-)
@@alexanderross1611 Thank you so much. I think you've sold me the Aguilars 😀 Thanks for the tweaking tips, I just don't understand what do you mean by the edge? Like a low pass filter or it doesn't boost that much?
Aloha Alexander🤙🏾 So I play Roots Reggae, Island and Dancehall Reggae some soul R&B out here in Vegas and so I was wondering would the Aguilars be perfect for my genre? Mahalo🤙🏾 and AWESOME playing btw🔥🔥🔥🔥
Finally, someone not playing djent on one of those. And sounding fantastic as well. Super tasty playing, sir!

Excellent demo with a man who can play and don’t talk too damn much 😮bravo !!
1:23 - Thank you for making this video and sharing it with us. Your bass sounds great! May I ask what model of Aguilars did you replace it with?
Great review ! Love your style . I’m very interested in this bass and your video is helpful - by the way , great playing 🙌👏

Thanks Geoffrey. Sweetwater must have got some in - they're showing a limited quantity in stock on their website at the moment. Grab one quick! :-)
Wow that is amazing love it 😊
Can definitely hear the Wenge on these basses. Has a bit of that Warwick sound to it.
that baby sounds amazing. thx
Excellent
Whats the pickup size of the DCB's?is it for 6 strings?
This bass ticks a lot of boxes for me. Just need to convince the wife.
That's why i have no wife))

I haven't tried any different tunings, but the neck is very solid, so I wouldn't forsee any issues with that.
Yes sir ✌🏽

Hopefully as you can hear it records well, and has a lot of tonal variety. It's also light and compact.

Hello! it's nice sound. Can you tell us what equipment you used for recording, including cables, amplifiers, interfaces, etc.?

Hi Daniel, it was a little while ago, but I think I got the from Bass Direct in the UK.
I have the foam green one . This sounds alot better. Better tone woods. I had to put in aguilars to get a better sound. The fanned frets are a pain in the ass. Lol
Great video! I'm in the USA, and this bass hasn't been released here yet. Did you have trouble getting this instrument where you are?

@@alexanderross1611 Andertons?
I assume finding strings are not an issue… probably just get extra longs?

@@alexanderross1611 - thanks for that info 👍🏼
Amazing sound! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Have you changed the pickups?
Yes, I fitted a set of Aguilar DCB D4 pickups. They've got a bit more bite than the Bartolini BH2s it came with, but they sounded pretty good too.
@@alexanderross1611 Is the bite the only difference? What about dynamics etc? I'm asking because I'm really unsatisfied with the stock bartolinis.

What is the weight of it please?
This one was 4kg on my digital scales.
No offense My Friend but can you give a vid with more playing please?! As soon as you started playing I was all ears!!
I can't decide if I want to get this bass and buy the aguilar pickups or get a btb1935. what do you think I should do?
I think you should find a store that has both so you can compare them! 🙂
check your Microphone volume! It's to low!
I like it but I don't have the $1500 plus tax to grab it.
