I love Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra! They're totally still around. There's an absolute bop on a 2017 album, 'Paradise Has No Border' called "Más Allá Del Universo" that's like a Spanish cover of a different song on the same album, "In The Farthest Universe"

He's right though, atmosphere is what makes a difference in the speed at which objects fall, so the elevator would fall slower than a person that's not being impeded by air. There's great footage of David Scott dropping a hammer and a feather on the moon during the Apollo 15 mission.

It was my freshman year in the fall of 1996 when I started hanging out with a kid in a couple of my classes named Jordan Ratliffe. Dude was into all kinds of music, but especially ska. He loved Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake, Mustard Plug, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, you name it.
But there was one band he was super into that I had never heard of before. Skankin' Pickle. He is still, over 25 years later, the only person that I've heard EVER mention that band. Until Dan did, just a few seconds ago. What a day to be bludgeoned by the nostalgia hammer.
So, I watched this while being mildly drunk….. this whole experience felt like a fever dream and idk what’s going on anymore

Dan is correct: while the elevator is accelerating downwards, you would float up off the floor. And Arin is confidently 25% correct: as air resistance reduces the elevator's acceleration, you would slowly regain your weight until it reaches terminal velocity, at which time you would weigh your normal amount.

I assume the "Nightingale in WWII" question was referring to Florence Nightingale, who was a very important figure in the history of nursing and served in the Crimean War, but she died in 1910 (at the age of 90) so she DEFINITELY wasn't around at the time.

Terminal velocity is where the force of gravity is equal to the force of air resistance. The force of gravity is proportional to your mass (force, not acceleration- acceleration is constant), and the force of air resistance is proportional to..... well, your physical shape and characteristics. Complex stuff.
If you're within a room falling at terminal velocity, because no air is pushing on YOU specifically, I think you'd be able to stand in the room. It's like an elevator moving downwards, just really quickly. On your way TO the room's terminal velocity, every amount of acceleration downwards that the room experiences is acceleration downwards that you DON'T witness. So, sort of, as it approaches terminal velocity, and as more air resistance pushes against it, apparent gravity increases until it returns to 1G again. Which is interesting to think about, I think.

Santa's reindeer are all female and it's actually very interesting. Reindeer are one of the few deer species where females grow antlers but they grow them at different times of year to the males. During Christmas time male reindeer will have shed their antlers and females would still be carrying them. Since Santa's reindeer are always depicted with antlers they must be female! Nature is so fun!

(For what it's worth, the occupants of an elevator in freefall would experience "weightlessness" as Dan said. However, even in a falling elevator, freefall is rather unlikely as the falling elevator cab still experiences some friction against the rails it runs on, along with other factors that depend on the exact elevator design.)
